Pros +
- The staff were helpful and the showers we nice a clean. It was nice they made your bed, cooked hostel dinners and provided drinks etc. Good location too.
- I pretty sure the black mold got my friend and I sick
- It was a beautiful place, I feel like the building we were in was like a museum. The staff were very friendly the kitchen was big, the balcony was lovely. The rooms were nice, and there is not immediate availability of a locker (they have them and you can use them if you bring your own lock or the hostel sells them), but nonetheless, i never used a locker and my stuff was completely safe. A very trusting environment.
Cons -
- The room I stayed was quite loud to the outside
- The nicest thing about this hostel is the location and the man guy that checks you in. Everything else is subpar, and that's a compliment, the lights in the room feel like a dingy operation room and it really compliments the black mold you could find growing in the shower rooms where only two of three work and the door to one of the two has a huge opening down the middle because it doesn't close all the way. The rest of the staff is rude and hog to community room. I'm pretty sure one of them sleeps in there which is wild considering it's supposed to be open for use 24/7 and I can't go in there to call home at night to avoid waking my roommates. I questioned the bunk beds integrity every time I moved and while we're on the topic of beds they don't was the provided blankets between uses so you are sleeping in someone else's sweat, drool, and who knows what else. The kitchen is always being hogged by staff or family of the owner. I was told there's an age limit 18-35 years of age which clearly isn't actually enforced as we bunked with roommates well over 35. The staff are constantly slamming doors, we aren't allowed to do our own laundry we have to let the grown man do it for us which makes me very uncomfortable handing my undergarments over.
- The location, while conveniently in the center, is a bit sketchy. This obviously is not the hostel’s fault, more so the people around on the street. Also, the showers worked decently, they did their job, but I wish I could figure out the water pressure a little better. Overall, a great affordable stay!

Good location
I didn’t like that the beds didn’t have individual ladders, and that the second level had no protection, which feels unsafe due to the risk of falling. Also, the beds are quite small.
Nothing, the property is mouldy and dirty. The worst hostel I’ve ever stayed.
Dirty and disgusting. Got a lot of bites from bed bugs which a lot of customers said the same here. Please read the reviews before staying.
Near everything: clubs, beaches, art, transportation, etc. Bathrooms and showers are clean. The kitchen is equipped with everything. Laundry service. Beverages and snakcs service. Professional and friendly staff 24/7. Great structure and very beautiful. Has a book shelf and a piano. Common areas are comfortable and clean. Silent rooms with air conditioning. Lockers. Safe ambience.
The location is really good, close to the bus to go to the cities in the Amalfi coast, with many bars and restaurants nearby. Walking distance from ferry port and train station (around 25min).
The facilities are really old and not well maintained (doors at the showers didn't close properly, lights in the toilets not working, mouldy showers, etc). The commun areas are not very clean either (the fridge was really dirty and shower area as well. there was a toilet that smelled like a wet dirty dog). The beds were really uncomfortable. And my bedroom was close to the commun area where people would socialize, which made it a bit noisy to sleep early.
I tried to tell the hostel manager that I woke up with a bunch of bites and he barely reacted. Only said he would change the bed. And he kept monitoring what I did throughout the night it was so strange.
The manager and the bed. The bed is so uncomfortable! And I woke up with bites!
I loved the location! Easy access to public transport and the beach.
The staff would randomly walk into the rooms, specifically the female dorm without announcing themselves. It was a bit uncomfortable, as this was supposed to be a female only space. Also, the restrooms were consistently out of toilet paper. No AC made it difficult to sleep at night.
Location
The worst hostel I have ever been to, and I have stayed at +100 hostels in my life. Dirty, no toilet paper, showers are bad, the light turns off while you shower.Super expensive for what is it.People are weird, the age limit rule is a complete lie. Crazy people in there as well.Staff (man) enters the female room at any point without saying anything, even at 11:00PM turning the light on. No lockers, no security. No room key. They took stuff from my things.
Friendly staff, perfect location, clean
The Salerno Experience Hostel staff are super friendly and very welcoming. They were always there to give a helping hand and give recommendations. There is a hostel cat which is so cute, it personally escorted us to the front door. The kitchen is fully equipped with all the spices and oils you need & coffee was free! They have a beautiful patio to socialize with other guests. The general building is quite interesting and beautiful- a very cool experience to stay there! Plus it was walking distance to the beach and town.
The hostel is advertised as 18-35, while it did seem they checked that, it wasn’t necessarily enforced. As a couple aged 23 we figured that we would meet lots of people our age. In reality that was not the case, most guests were over the age of 30, and we even met a few who were in their 40’s. Lovely people that we had a lovely time with, but definitely not in the specified age limit. Just something to keep in mind. The female showers were not super equipped with body soap and the hairdryers were a bit confusing to use/were not really working.
It's right in the historic centre, the seashore is just 5 minutes away. Astonishing 18th-century building with high ceilings and authentic doors.
Honestly wish this place was better. The bulkbeds are squeaky, once you climb up you wake up your neighbors every time you make a move. The showers are... like in a prison, there are no locks on the doors, you have to get changed in front of other people. It took quite a long time to get things done with the reservation and documents, though everything was booked online here. What freaked me out the most, though, was the insanely loud music which was explained as 'parry time' by the staff. Not a single person was enjoying the 'party' but the noise was audible even from the street. They refused to make it quieter at first and were surprised that something was not right with it.
Comfortable beds. Ability to leave bags after checkout (not securely). Full kitchen.
Got upgraded when I arrived but there was some guy in the room with an electric drill out, desiring some electrics or something - nobody seemed to bat an eyelid… it’s not very clean and not a great location. Just got a bit of a weird vibe.
Super friendly staff, very cozy feeling and a good area to stay in.
The hostel is near to the Lungomare di Salerno. It’s very quiet location and good for traveling around Costiera Amalfitana. There are many common areas and an excellent kitchen stocked with everything you need. The owners are very nice and welcoming.
I had a wonderful experience. It's an unusual place. The stuff is very friendly. The building is authentic, located in the old town. The premises are atmospheric and large. I would definitely recommend this place as a good hostel.
The building is old, so keep in mind that, for example, the shower is not perfect. (Also, it would be great to have a shelf in the shower to put things on)
such a good hostel with cosy vibes. the hostel has enough utensils in the kitchen(oil, spices etc). friendly staff, nice terrace
The staff was extremely welcoming and sweet to help me with carrying up my bags, I was travelling by bike so I had a lot of stuff. They made every effort so I felt comfortable and made it seem effortless. The building is beautiful and rustic. I loved staying here. One of the oldest buildings of Salerno the owner told me proudly. Huge sleeping rooms and a well equipped kitchen.
As it's an old building, some parts were therefore also a bit moldy. For this price and atmosphere it was perfect anyways! Just bring flip flops and you'll be fine.
Close to the city center, which is nice. The staff is nice and helpful, met some nice people as well. For a night or two it's fine, wouldn't stay longer though.
Personally, I found the beds quite uncomfortable and the facilities unproper. May also depend on the guests of course.
