Nice old building in French quarter, very clean rooms, good restaurant

There are very few instances where the property is exactly how it is shown on the pictures, and Palais De Mahe is definitely one of them. It ranks well in all aspects - Cleanliness, location, ambience, Staff behaviour and above all food.

Beautifully designed property and rooms near the rock beach. Amazing staff who’s always checking in on you. The food, the cocktails and the overall quality was very refreshing to see. The GM Mr Dino was also gracious enough to spend time with us which was very pleasant. Would be visiting them again including some of the many other CGH properties they have in India

Just that somehow we continued to have mosquitos in our room even after it being closed. I know sometimes we can’t control every single mosquito getting into the room but we had a few more than expected and it was bit irritating at night.

Everyone on the staff was super attentive. My daughter had broker her foot and everyone on the staff was already aware that she would be in a wheelchair. They had arranged for one that we could take out with us - and everyone went out of their way to make sure she was taken care of. From the font desk to the restaurant staff - everyone seemed to be in sync with the individual needs of the guests.

The breakfast was not a typical buffet spread; instead, we could order options from a special daily menu. Thoughtful in every way. The location couldn't get better. The pool experience with the kids each day was fun & also hospitable service at the poolside.

The property is extremely well maintained and has an excellent staff that attends to each and every guess with attention to detail. The staff went out of their way to make us feel comfortable in a place that was new to us . Impeccable service . The morning breakfast has an amazing spread for all kinds of palates .

Lunch and dinner options at the property are limited . Although the food was tasty they run short of options . Since there are many options of food outside at a walkable distance this is just a minor set back compared to the pros.

I liked the style of the building. The rooms were spacious and bathroom set up was nice.

I didn’t like that the pictures suggested a better view of the Bay of Bengal but we couldn’t enjoy it from the 2nd floor at all. I wasn’t aware there would also be construction. The pool needs to be cleaned. The breakfast was underwhelming. I couldn’t eat the scrambled eggs since they were watery. The breads were good though.

The Internet is very buggy and requires coupon codes for logging in which is very tedious and old fashioned.

Location is a little too busy as many people like taking photos right in front of the hotel.

It felt like an old colonial building which had been renovated, in fact it was purpose built as a hotel only 12 years ago. The design was superb.

Minor detail, the breakfast coffee wasn’t always fresh.

I thought it was pricey for the overall stay even given the uniqueness and charm of the property

Huge spacious room - love the architecture, colours, poolside room and overall relaxing environment. Love CGH's commitment to reducing plastic waste and sustainable practice (like refillable glass bottles with filtered water). Breakfast choices (included) are extensive and you can try a range of Indian breakfast items and Western options too up on the top floor with a view over the pool. Location wise - the hotel is super convenient and right in the heart of the French quarter for walking around and exploring. Pondicherry is a fascinating place, a melting pot architecturally and culturally, full of life and colour. MASSIVE shout out and thank you to Shyam who went above and beyond to help us with some travel dilemmas. Our India rail train tickets fell through despite being booked/paid for. Shyam found us alternate travel arrangements, was so calm and supportive through all the last minute changes and even took us all the way (even after his shift!) to where we needed to board our bus. Thank you SO much for taking care of us, very much appreciated.

The location was great! People were taking pictures of the hotel. Starbucks and many other food joints were just by the corner. The room where we stayed was oozing with heritage vibe. We loved it.

The breakfast choice was disappointing. When a stay cost as much as this one, I expect much more. There was no buffet, they were taking orders based on a menu that was limited.
