This is a good 3STAR hotel right next to the main Train Station of the historic city of Jaffna. Fairly good rooms for the price you pay. House keeping staff are good, hence the rooms are tidy and well appointed.Service is the strength of this place. A very special thanks to the very efficient stafd at the reception. Ms.Thadsajini and Ms.Ragasini are superb professionals, helpful and always with beautiful smile. They are a strength to this hotle.All staff at breakfast are very efficient and helpful.

Able to easily communicate with staff, very helpful. Good area. Rooms were spacious and clean. Water was hot and air con worked well.

Single lift and no easily accessible stairs.

Great front office, dining room, and cleaning staff. Always with smiles and helpful. Great breakfast variety, the dinner also excellent.

Staff, room, pool, food

The room was spotless and modern. Good range of bathroom products. Towels clean and fluffy. Aircon super efficient! The food is great. The staff are helpful.

The TV didn’t work - I reported it but it was not fixed Some outside areas (eg pool) are a little sparse and not inviting to use. These areas could do with a little renovation

The location is really good, particularly if you are using the train station. It's only about 10 mins by Tuk Tuk to any of the attractions. The room was clean but our A/C was faulty and wouldn't switch off. They let us switch rooms, which helped. We could not fault the staff, they were very helpful. The breakfast was really good, with huge variety, as well as fresh cooked omelettes and sweet fresh dosas.

The beds in both of our rooms had mattresses, way past their better days. The springs were trying to escape.

In the city.

Standard rooms need a huge makeover. No hot water in the sink, no bathroom mats, no hand towels. Television, and telephone don’t work. No apology from manager. I’d fire the housekeeping manager immediately.

I recently booked three rooms at this hotel for myself and family, and unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. The rooms were minimal in terms of amenities, and the Wi-Fi did not function. As a result, I had to rely on expensive international roaming charges to complete any work or communication. When I raised this issue with the front desk, they claimed that no complaint had been written down in their log book (This is the responsibility of the front desk manager), despite the fact that hotel staff spent an hour in my room attempting to resolve the issue. I am still waiting for a refund to cover the cost of the roaming charges. Eventually the technician on site informed me that the Wi-Fi router was broken. It has now been three weeks without any follow-up communication, either via email or phone from The Valampuri.During my check-out, Bosco, the manager on duty, assured me that the accounts team would address my claim. However, the hotel delayed our departure by an hour while waiting for the manager to appear, which caused a disruption to our schedule, particularly since we were traveling with elderly, disabled family members.Additionally, I observed that the woman preparing omelets for breakfast was coughing directly onto the eggs, which I also reported to the front desk. I skipped eating the eggs. Given the numerous issues encountered during my stay, I do not anticipate booking a stay at this hotel in the future and would definitely not recommend anyone book with this hotel.

The bell boy was helpful in getting us a wheel chair and escorting my dad to his room.

The room was absolutely not clean, it needs proper changement such as in bathroom, tiles, flooring. The Coffee machine area was super dirty, ( dirt stains on the walls). A terrible stay !

The location is great. There's easy access to the railway station, tuk tuks etc.

I stayed in there a few years ago and it was great. But now, everything is worn out. The AC didn't work properly. I made several complaints, but it was not fixed. The toilet is dated and not that clean. Breakfast was cold, some items were not in a good quality.

The hotel was very well located in Jaffna town and provided us with a very comfortable base for our stay. The food was good in the restaurant and the staff were friendly and helpful. For the type of hotel it is, The Valampuri offers really good value for money and we had a lovely time there.

Good breakfast with a variety of choices. Staff helped in serving and looking after the guests. I liked it being there for the first time.

Location

Cockroaches in the room. When i complained the 1st time, they gave us a repellent, instead of changing our rooms. Had another scare at 3am, but I figured I'd wait till morning. Since we had a full itinerary, we decided to come back to the hotel afterwards and get the room changed. It was changed but after much deliberation from the hotel. If this was anywhere else, i would have gotten a room change immediately.

Not much. Location near the train station is convenient probably for some.

This place is falling apart. As we entered the lobby for the first time, our nostrils were assaulted with a rotten smell that never went away in the two days we spent there. The walls and corridors were dirty and though there seemed to be a great many staff about, no thorough cleaning of the common areas was done during our stay. Our room had mold growing all along one whole wall, and a leaking AC vent in the loo. There were several places in the hotel and the room where literally duct tapes were holding things together. No towels were provided when we entered the room. After asking, some turned up hours later. The missing kettle never did. The staff offered to change the room the next day but only offered a smaller room that was only marginally better. It was a case of too little too late. The restaurant was smelly as well and unhygienic with dirty cutlery and linens. Food was forgettable and the service very confusing with several groups of waiters milling about.
