Ceylon Olive

We had a wonderful stay at Ceylon Olive, and it truly felt like a home away from home.The hotel is owned and personally managed by Kumudu, who is a kind, humble, and welcoming person.You can really feel the care and attention he puts into the place! :)The rooms were clean and beautifully maintained. We stayed in the Superior Double with a terrace and jungle view, and it was so peaceful and relaxing to wake up to that!The staff were also kind and helpful. We were given the option to choose between a home cooked English breakfast or Sri Lankan breakfast. Both were yummy!We had also requested a late checkout for an extra hour, and Kumudu was generous enough to allow it without any hesitation, which we really appreciated.Overall, a beautiful place with warm hospitality and great attention to detail.Wishing Kumudu all the very best! We will definitely be recommending Ceylon Olive to friends and family, and would love to stay here again in the future.

The property is beautiful, with a lovely jungle view and pool/garden. Everything was clean and up to standard. The room was spacious and included everything we needed. The outdoor shower was a lovely addition. Breakfast was delicious and Kumudu the owner was so attentive and kind.

A beautiful & cozy property in Galle. Not too distant from the Fort. Spacious & Clean rooms. A wonderful garden area around the pool provided space for the family including the kids to play around. The best thing about the property was the hospitality exhibited by the staff and the owner- Kumudu. It felt like a stay at a close relative's place with love floating around and the bonus was to get to meet his mother, who greeted our family like her own and showered love & blessings on all of us. The breakfast was served like a family meal. Choice of food served on the table. The staff was eager to help and serve. We were skeptical about the outdoor shower in the back side of the room. But it turned out to be an attraction for all. It was a great stay that we had and whenever we are in Galle again, we would be opting to stay in this property only.

We recently stayed two nights at Ceylon Olive and overall, it was a wonderful experience. The cleanliness of the property was impeccable, and the location was perfect — close to key attractions yet tucked away in a peaceful area, making it the ideal retreat.The property itself was charming, with a lovely pool and a small garden that added a serene touch to the environment. One of my favorite parts was having breakfast served on the balcony — a truly relaxing start to the day, surrounded by nature.However, I should mention that the property has stairs, which may not be ideal for senior citizens. It did pose some difficulty for the older members of our group, as there was no elevator, making it less senior-friendly. This was more so since it rained making the stairs slippery. That said, the host was incredibly accommodating, always available to help and make sure we had everything we needed. I’d recommend this property to anyone looking for a peaceful and beautiful stay in Galle, as long as they are aware of the stairs.

A friendly and supportive family run hotel that offered great accomodation that seemed like we were miles from the hustle and bustle but just a 5 minute tuk tuk (provided at the hotel) ride to Galle fort where there is an abundance of restaurants to choose from.Brekky was as fresh and tasty as we have had and served right outside our door on the shady balcony.

Location was fantastic. Facilities were great and it felt like a home away from home! The hosts were so attentive and kind, I couldn't find fault. The garden was very peaceful despite being on a busy road and the pool was a bonus. Will definitely be returning again.

Lovely tranquil place, owned and managed by a charming family. The room was spacious and immaculate with a comfortable king sized bed. The bathroom again was big and well appointed. Breakfast was served on the room balcony and was delicious.

A busy area of the town but the property is well set back from the road so no real issues. No other negatives .

The hot water was only just above cold water temp. but it was refreshing, considering the weather.

Exceptional property. Perfect location, central (5 minute tuk to town) but secluded enough that it felt like a tropical paradise. Owner and staff could not do enough to accommodate. Property very well appointed

Nothing not too like

We were impressed with Ceylon Olive from the moment we arrived - we were greeted warmly by Kumudu and his staff and immediately taken to our beautiful room. The outside bathroom was a nice touch, with a shower fitted to a tree which allowed us to shower under the stars, a rare treat! The rooms was clean, beautifully presented and spacious, and the beds were incredibly comfortable. the pool was perfect and in a gorgeous setting that felt private and secluded from the busy-ness of Galle. The breakfast was one of the best we were offered throughout our visit to Sri Lanka - especially the traditional Sri Lankan breakfast. They were also very accommodating for the children's fussier requirements. One of the staff, Era, was also on hand as a tuk tuk driver whenever we needed a ride into Galle, which took about 8 minutes. He would also respond quickly if we ever needed picking up.

There's literally nothing we would change about our stay.

This is a lovely hotel set in mature and luxuriant gardens full of trees and shrubs. Breakfast is served on the patio outside the room and is plentiful and delicious. There is no restaurant for evening meals but there are plans for one to be built in the near future. My husband was unable to climb the stairs to the room I booked but the owner very kindly changed the room to a large family room on the ground floor. The bed was very comfortable and the outdoor shower was a pleasant surprise. Going out for an evening meal or to Galle is no problem as the tuk-tuk driver works at the hotel and was available to take us wherever we wanted to go. He is reliable, punctual and the charge is very reasonable. All the staff are attentive and friendly and it was good to chat to Kumudu, the owner, about his experiences when living in the UK. He organised a spa massage for me on site, and I can certainly recommend the experience. We were sorry when it was time to leave and I can highly recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to visit Galle.

Beautiful and very comfortable property with very attentive staff. Transport always on hand when needed. Wonderful pool and garden.

No facilities for lunch or dinner at property but this makes you get out and about so not necessarily a bad thing

Room was ok. Wifi was average.

The location was bad, nothing was accessible in walking distance. Too high a price for the experience. In the room, the fridge didn't work, basic facilities were not available.

It was humble but set in mature woodland it was simply stunning

Not as advertised as it doesn’t have a ‘restaurant’ at the time we visited. Message ahead if you’re planning dinner to find out if it’s possible. We stayed at 8 hotels across our 2 week trip and this property scores low for ‘value for money’. It’s beautiful though!

Extremely comfortable.. Kumudu made us feel part of his family.. special mention to Eran who really helped us around Galle
