The Galle Fort Hotel

Outstanding Hotel with wonderful heritage renovation from 17th Century Dutch Merchant's Home. Deserves prestige from UNESCO special award!

Beautiful property.

Bathroom facilities needed a bit of update. Loud at night with fireworks nearby.

Relaxed old colonial atmosphere. Wonderful staff. It was great having a pool which is rare in Galle Fort hotels.

Happy with everything.

Warm staff, lovely public spaces and pool area. Great location

Room decor was bland. From when I visited two years ago, they have overstuffed the dining room area with tables and chairs, the beautiful elegant front room is now a over crowded with furniture, and the patio is the same story. There was a lovely inviting minimalism the last time and now it looks like a dining hall.

From the moment we arrived, the reception team greeted us with genuine warmth and professionalism, making us feel instantly at home. The Library Room was an absolute delight—elegantly furnished with plush seating, rich wood accents, and a curated collection of books. On the morning, we were treated to an exceptional breakfast spread, offering a diverse array of delicious options.

Perfect stay! The Grand Apartment Suite was exceptionally comfortable and the staff were very patient and quick to accomodate to our requests. The cocktails were amazing and we loved having drinks on the hotel verandah in the evening, very picturesque. Breakfast items were yummy and the pool was very inviting.

Breathtaking hotel - beautiful garden, pool and rooms. We booked the Garden room which was so stylish. The team are so helpful and generous in making everything as efficient and comfortable as possible. Breakfast was also excellent, and we tried some of their famous Arrack cocktails too. Highly recommend.

Nothing!

Beautiful pool with very attentive and helpful staff. Also well located in the centre. Breakfast was delicious and well presented. We had a lovely time and would highly recommend the hotel.

Great location to explore the fort. Pool was lovely. Staff were friendly and very professional. Amazing heritage rooms and furniture. Loved the bathroom and the scents of the toiletries.

Our room had a light come through at night time so I used an eye mask. Live music from establishments around the place plays until 10PM.

We had the best experience! Hotel staff went above and beyond to make us comfortable. The bar was a highlight for us and they made special drinks to appease my husband’s curiosity about the Arrack. Definitely a highlight of our entire trip!

Excellent location. Charmy colonial small boutique hotel. Shiromal was super helpfull and kind with us!!!! He is definitely the kind of person any hotel should have in their staff team!!

Isolation of the room was extremely poor and due to that fact we end up finding a big black scorpion (!!) inside our room... Although this place is charmy and georgeous boutique hotel we end up realizing it was extremely OVERPRICED for what it can offer!

Great location, old world charm, helpful staff, good breakfast and good cocktails.

A couple of practical issues which can be easily solved by the management:1. Provide adequate lighting for shaving etc.2. Provide a small step stool to help shorter people get on to the traditional high beds!

Great location, good food and the staff were excellent. Loved the bar!

The bed wasn’t overly comfortable; the mattress was too hard

Probably one of the best hotels I stayed! Excellent rooms, incredible staff, very service orientated, great restaurant, beautiful old building in an historical setting.

Most comfy bed of our whole trip! Food was amazing. Staff were friendly and went out of their way to assist with all requests.

No onsite spa or yoga offer.

Lovely building, very helpful staff, beautiful room.

Due to the age of the building it was not soundproof so quite noisy.

Room was very comfortable and the staff eager to help. Diner was a little disappointing, breakfast was wonderful.

The property was absolutely beautiful and by far my favorite place I stayed in Sri Lanka. The staff were so helpful and professional, and the room was spotless and comfortable. I wish I could have stayed longer.

Nothing. Everything was perfect.

Great location, very beautifully done and renovated. Very unique room with 10mt high ceilings. Attentive staff, serene and peaceful ambiance and great value for money. What else would you ask ?

Breakfast could be better quality, especially the bakery basket

The character and history of the property is incredible. All the facilities were great and our room was superb. The location of the hotel is perfect for exploring Galle and the surrounding area. The staff were so friendly and helpful and felt like family. The manager Shiromal was especially helpful and welcoming. Would highly recommend visiting the hotel even just for a drink or something to eat.

Nothing in particular.
