This boutique hotel is very tastefully designed, and has great access to a swimming beach and natural tidal pool.

We paid way too much, likely because of the holiday season and last-minute booking.

Went on a family holiday to Moi Talpe and honestly, it was one of the best decisions we made. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel at home — super friendly and incredibly helpful, especially with the kids. That gave us the rare chance to actually relax and enjoy the stay.The layout of the property is ideal for families — the plunge pool, bean bags, and swings added a lovely charm, and the best part was that everything was within eyesight. We never had to worry about where the kids were. It felt really safe and well thought out.The beach is just out front. Depending on the season, the shoreline shifts, but a short walk took us to the stunning Talpe rock pools — nature’s own mini plunge pools. Sunsets there were something else.Food was a highlight — fresh, generous portions, and the kitchen team even went out of their way to accommodate a few dietary needs. The rooms were spacious, clean, and just what we needed after a day in the sun.It’s rare to find a place that balances comfort, style, and family-friendliness so well — and for the price, it truly exceeded our expectations. We’ll definitely be back!— A happy (and rested) dad

Staying at Moi Talpe was such a lovely surprise. It’s a former tsunami house that’s been beautifully redone the rooms feel fresh and comfortable, and the open-air restaurant and lounge space became our go-to hangout spots.We actually extended our stay because we couldn’t get enough of the skies here —every evening felt like a painting, and we didn’t want to miss a single one. The plunge pool, while small, was just right for our group, and it’s only for in-house guests so it felt private and peaceful.What really made the stay though was the team - Dinesha, Chamara (the chef!), and Suranga were so warm and welcoming. Nothing felt forced just genuinely kind people who took great care of us.We even saw turtles swimming in the sea a few evenings, and the Talpe rock pool beach is just a few steps away. The swings were a nice touch too we had a lot of fun there.Highly recommend this spot. We’re already planning to come back with friends and take over the whole villa next time.

The staff was incredibly helpful!

The initial room we booked, the air con was not working. But the staff were incredibly helpful and offered us another room.

Rooms are comfortable but compact. Room facilities not as described on booking.comHad issues with air conditioning in our friends room, and overall felt the food was at best average for Sri Lanka and sadly the staff seemed de-motivated.We also had issues with drainage in our shower and our friends air conditioning wasn't working. Be aware that the hotel is on a busy main road which can be noisy.View of sea is fantastic.

The sea in front is very rocky and not safe for swimming but nothing the property can help with so no complaints really

Very lovely place to stay. Convenient location close to nearby popular beach towns. The highlight was definitely the swing out onto the sea.

The hotel staff does everything to keep the guests happy.The beach is in front of the hotel is quite unique - a combination of a nice coral reef for snorkeling and a beatiful sandy lagoon just 30 meters from the hotel for safy swimming in the ocean.

This stay had a lot of potential to be great. The view was beautiful on a nice day.

- Unfortunately our room did not have a key and when we asked where it was, we were told “it’s safe”. (Nothing was taken, but that’s still not ok). - There was a rat that visited each night through the hole behind the toilet and the draining grate which it could move and kept me up most the night. It got into the rubbish bin and our toiletries. Pooped all over the towels and vanity, and was just gross and loud. Scratching and squeaking all through the night - It’s close to a busy road, so if you’re a light sleeper bare in mind the traffic and honking. - there was a light outside our room that stayed on all night, and just left our room very bright

The room and food and service was great

There was a power cut, and no generator so a little inconvenient. Also there was no room key, however they did find a solution for this.

Our experience was literally excellent despite we arrived not in season time. All staff was available for any requirements. Especially Kasun was super helpful even before our stay (he managed our transfers from airport and back, suggest and helped to book surfing classes, made extra miles when it comes for dinner options which weren't included in menu yet). We have prompt cleaning service and always had option to request it anytime.Caffe service was very good and on time.Location - is everything. Amazing place only few steps to Ocean!

I'd suggest to add Laundry service as around there weren't any options and it a great service could be managed by hotel. Also I'd add some hooks so clothes , to keep it in room with comfort.

The rooms were nice and clean

We cannot access the beach even though its near the beach. The hotel is buit with a hight. So we cannot climb down. Not stairs and hard rocks near the premisees. Maybe because its off season at the moment (June). To access the beach we have to walk around 700m on the main road as the staff mentioned

Too close to main road, so very loud from traffic at night.Central apartment has no windows. Good there was another room free to swap

Place on a main road , nothing around no stores , no propel , village .. nothing happening , just road with buses ?!!! Now is 6 morning very loud .Pictures and reality doesn’t match

Location near the beach is beautiful, vegetable curry prepared by the kitchen was one of the best I had in Sri Lanka. The hotel manager is most helpful and welcoming.

1. Location on the beach is great for sunsets, early morning beach walks and swimming. For swimming, only one part of the beach is appropriate, as the rest is rocky.2. Clean rooms with good aircon, clean towels and good toiletries.

1. Limited food choices for both breakfast and other meals.2. Staff is little laid-back in keeping with the vibe of the place. This works both ways, positive if you are chilled, otherwise not.
