    Pros +

    • Views are amazing, the infinity pool is really nice (it was a bit windy though so swimming wasn’t very pleasant). The staff were very nice and helpful, and the rooms were clean and well maintained.
    • Staying at Agnus Unawatuna was an amazing experience. The food was excellent, the view was absolutely breathtaking, and the overall atmosphere made it a place I truly loved being at. Highly recommended for a relaxing and memorable stay.
    • The location and the million dollar views!

    Cons -

    • The hotel is located on a steep slope .Access requires driving up and down a fairly steep road, and walking to nearby places can be challenging, as it’s a walk down to the main street and back up again. The food quality was disappointing.
    • Milk powder is preferred instead of fresh milk in the in-room tea and coffee amenities.
    • Other than dinning within the hotel there were no walkable dining options nearby.

⭐ Absolutely Wonderful Stay!We stayed at Agnus Unawatuna, and it was such a lovely experience. The beachfront location is perfect — you can enjoy the sound of the waves right from your room! The staff were friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and beautifully maintained. The food was delicious, and the view from the hotel was simply breathtaking. It’s the perfect place to relax and unwind. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Unawatuna! ??

The location is a hidden calm modern amazingspot. The terrace and the pool are just ‘wow’!

drinking water should be available and for free, just like in many other hotels in Sri Lanka. They give the first 2 small bottles of water for freein the room and there is no facility nearby tobuy cheap water, soyou need topay 2$ for a small bottle of water for the next rounds

The bedrooms were large and clean with a big, comfortable bed. The pool area was nice and had a good view being up on the hill. Staff were good particularly check in and helped us book an airport taxi for a very early departure.

The breakfast was bad, only 3 options and 1 you have to pre-order. Was quite cold and bland.

We had a great stay here. The view from the rooftop pool is stunning, overlooking Jungle Beach and Galle Fort. The breakfast had many options from a continental breakfast to full english. The rooms were lovely with a large balcony and the staff were extremely helpful, allowing us to leave our bags and still use the facilities when we had a very late evening flight the day of check out, even allowing us to take a shower beforehand. We would definitely love to come back.

Excellent and friendly service, amazing views, incredible massages, delicious dinners, free shuttle to Jungle Beach and close enough to Galle ?

The hotel was much smaller than I had realised which was a positive for us, gives it a more boutique experience with less people. The staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful. Lovely breakfast. The pool on the rooftop has the most stunning views, it was the perfect end to our holiday in Sri Lanka.

    10SalmaPosted on: 4-22-2025

The view is stunning, clean, arranged transportation to jungle beach, nice staff and service. Variety of food options. Close by tuktuk to other nice areas. Their iced tea is amazing

A little slice of paradise!Firstly, every single member of staff who works here were incredible. So friendly, lovely and helpful and they were so nice with my little boy.The hotel is beautiful! We had room 6 which had panoramic views from jungle beach to Galle fort. So beautiful and perfect for watching the sunset. The room was really modern, clean and comfortable and plenty of space and nice touches. The infinity pool on the roof was beautiful, amazing views - especially at sunset!Breakfast is amazing! 4 courses every morning. In fact all of the food is delicious, we had half the menu and it was all amazing, especially the Sri Lankan currys and homemade ice cream. One night they had a bbq on the roof top for sunset which was so good, as well as an amazing singer. The location and views were perfect. Free tuktuk to jungle beach and back which is the best beach for swimming, lovely food and great little boat trips. The spa was also so good and the ladies that came were brilliant. I’m running out of adjectives now but book this hotel, you will not regret it!

    Nothing, absolutely faultless

The hotel itself is beautiful. It’s set up on a mountain with a beautiful view overlooking the sea. We had a corner room which was massive and had a panoramic view over the sea… probably the best view we’ve ever had from a hotel room. My partner enjoyed the Sri Lankan breakfast, whilst I enjoyed the English breakfast. All staff were kind and diligent and always ready to help or answer questions. The rooftop pool was a great spot to watch the sunset and enjoy a dip. The location is about a 7 minute ride to the town centre.

The only negative about this hotel (and it’s not even the hotel itself, but it’s something to be aware of), is the difficulty you may experience getting ride shares to pick you up/ drop you off in the town centre. As the hotel is located up a mountain, some tuk tuks don’t have the horsepower to ‘get up the mountain,’ which can limit who can drive you back from the town centre. There also seems to be a bit of a turf war in terms of some of the local tuk tuk drivers not wanting ride share (uber/ pick me) drivers to take their business in this area and therefore not allowing ride share drivers to come up the mountain to pick you up. (I could be wrong, but a local tuk tuk driver said this to us when he stopped to pick us up whilst driving down the mountain and refused to take us because we wouldn’t pay 4x the amount we paid the night before). This is just something to be aware of. We were still able to get transportation, but often had to wait 20+ minutes and/ or pay higher prices to return to the hotel, as the tuk tuk drivers knew you had no other options at the end of the night. We ended up paying more for a car to return at the end of the night, to avoid the debates with tuk tuk drivers. If you have your own transportation, and/ or don’t mind waiting for transport/ haggling with drivers a bit, this hotel is literally perfection.

This hotel is an absolute gem, nestled on a serene hill that offers breathtaking views of the historic Galle Fort. From the moment you arrive, you're enveloped in tranquility and treated to stunning surroundings that feel like a dream come true. The rooms are nothing short of spectacular, with an enchanting view that perfectly complements the tasteful and elegant decor. The culinary experience is equally impressive. With a menu filled with mouthwatering dishes and refreshing drinks, every meal is a delightful journey of flavors. Whether you're enjoying breakfast with the sunrise or savoring cocktails as the sun sets over the Fort, the dining experience is unforgettable. For anyone looking for a perfect blend of luxury, comfort, and beauty, this hotel is a must-visit. A hidden treasure that promises relaxation, indulgence, and memories to cherish forever.

The pool has outstanding views and is definitely the highlight of the stay. The room offered amazing panoramic views.Staff were very helpful and friendly throughout our stay.We appreciated the complimentary tuk-tuk to Jungle Beach and the provision of both pool and beach towels. The shower was spacious with great temperature control and water pressure. The room itself was large and comfortable. The TV with Netflix was a nice touch.Room service was quick, with a tasty variety of options.

My partner is vegan and found breakfast options limited; there were no plant-based milk alternatives (for tea, coffee, cereal, or yogurt), which could also be a concern for those with allergies. As a non-vegan, I found the breakfast to be average—the food wasn’t very hot, and some items like cakes were on the dry side. The fresh fruit juice on the second day tasted a bit diluted. The bed was quite firm, and we experienced some back discomfort after a couple of nights. Some of the furniture in the room showed signs of wear (scratches, marked walls), and a refresh could elevate the overall experience. These were minor issues and didn’t take away from the overall enjoyment of our stay. The stunning pool and friendly service really stood out—we just expected a slightly higher standard in a few areas given the price point.

This is our 6th hotel stay since areiving in Sri Lanka and it is by far the best. All the other hotels were also good but this was something else. The views are incredible, we had room number 1 and it overlook the whole bay. The food was delicious, the staff were friendly. The pool area was stunning. This places ticked all the boxes. Definitely takes some beating.

    10AnnaPosted on: 4-4-2025

Wow, an incredible stay. The pool was beautiful, and the sunsets from the rooftop are incredible! 10 min walk to Jungle Beach or they do a free shuttle. Unawatuna beach is 5 min tuktuk away, Galle fort around 15 mins. Totally worth being up on this tranquil cliff out the way of the busy beach areas. The staff were so lovely and helpful, offered a refreshing welcome drink and we checked out early to get the train and they packed us a breakfast. The menus are extensive and the drinks were the best I’ve had in Sri Lanka! The room was beautiful, we had a corner room with 180 views and a balcony! While it’s slightly more expensive than other hotels, its absolutely worth it and looks even better in person.

So far we’ve stayed in 6 hotels and this is our favourite! The staff were so lovely. The rooftop pool with bar and views is unbeatable. So many happy hours spent up there watching the sunsets. The staff couldn’t be nicer and are so sweet and patient and the Manager was brilliant. I would recommend this place to anyone. Free tuktuk to Jungle Beach and also located slightly away from the busy town with lots of tourists. We loved it here so much and will return!
