Room Ok.No dinner or breakfast.
A bit old.Banking on its reputation.
The location was beautiful
I didn’t enjoy my dinner in the restaurant. The staff however were amazing.
The property was great the grounds were lovely to walk around ..
A pool would have been great as it was very very Hot …
The grounds the main building reminding of an old hotel by the water in Oban in Scotland
Nothing it was so central to everything
We enjoyed dinning in the restaurant and sitting out in the reception room enjoying a wine and looking out over the gardens. The service was great and the food was presented well.
Bar staff were not confident in making cocktails. Also, the bar didn't have the ingredients to make a Negroni.
Loved the character & the charming old main building. Love that it's dog friendly.
No TV at all....the manageress tried to get it going, but no luck. As a compensation offered free breakfast & mini bar. When we went for breakfast on the balcony the next day, on the veranda of this gorgeous building (near the main entrance, no less) were glasses & plates that had been there from the night before! Not a good look for such a beautiful place.
I left my pillow there and Alex at reception was great at tracking it down and then arranging for it to be posted to me...Thanks !
Passable
Our shower overflowed in the bathroom and made it difficult to keep everything dry especially when going to loo. There was a lot - room 59
The location and the gardens.
The room had issues including the air con not working and fan in the bathroom not working . We also had a cleaner banging and making so much noise at 4am!! We had to go out of the room and ask them to be quiet. It was terrible. The rooms are very small and very old. In need of renovation. The location and the gardens are the only things I can say were great.
The property is set in park like environment- very pretty
The buildings are tired and in need of some maintenance. The menu is limited and overpriced for what is offered.
It was close to the event we attended
The room was terrible. There was a vibration in the walls from fridges in other rooms that sounded like a hammer drill all night. Had no sleep at all and left at daylight the next morning. Was probable the worst night’s accommodation we have ever had. Rang the reception in the morning to let the know about the issues and spoke to an apologetic lady but nobody has got back to us. Should get a full refund
I loved the gardens and surrounds.I loved the relaxed feel of the resort with fireplaces. The staff were very attentive and nice.
A bit difficult with cases, getting a big one to the second floor. The fridge had a tiny deep freeze compartment. No ice or cold water. The fridge unit appeared scuffed/old.Sorry I hated the hand basin no where to put my toiletories make up bag, very small.Twin beds cost a fair deal more than a double bed even though booking .com said no extra charge.I wish hotels would use the term king bed instead of large double etc. I think measurements were mentioned but in inches I think..
Lovely grounds and historic building. Quiet. Great lounge and bar.
Noisy air conditioning in room.
Unsafe treatment of guests
I was denied accommodation at 11pm for arriving with a dog despite a confirmed pet-friendly booking.com booking. As a single female traveller experiencing driver fatigue I was left without safe alternatives. Upon arrival the hotel stated they run a pet friendly hotel with sub-categories of pet/non-pet friendly rooms however these subcategories were not displayed on booking.com at the booking interface. This is a failure of listing accuracy and duty of care.
The beautiful gardens, the comfortable lovely lounges by the fireplace. The workers were friendly and helpful
