Pros +
- Friendly staff. Nice old building.
- Easy check in and clean room.
- Very basic as expected but nice atmosphere of a country pub, Excellent meal & beer deal
Cons -
- Bathroom basin taps playing up, hot/cold reversed. Toilet leaking onto floor.
- Noise at the roof at 5am to 9pm because of the pigeons that live there.Crazy noise
- It was directly above the bar area, where a band played at top volume and until almost midnight LOUD music!!! The worst was that directly above the whole ceiling had a MASSIVE colony of pigeons which I had wake me at various intervals during the night thinking someone was trying to break into my room!!!!! When almost daylight, they kicked uo an even louder ruckus, not happy and so so tired!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I liked that it had a good restaurant, and a communal fridge, toaster and kettle for guests use.

I didn’t stay there
That is not for family it’s only for single persons they have tab there and no attached washrooms only bed in the room
Nothing. Horrendous.
Basic to the extreme. Daylight coming in through the ceiling. Felt like the noisy, overweight pigeons were in the room with us. Spent the night on top of the bed, kept myself dressed all night, scared. Noisy. Horrendous. One of the worst nights of my life (I'm nearly 60) . Awful. Don't stay here. Bathroom filthy, and used by locals drinking in the pub. I was awake all night. Also, NOT in Cessnock. We only booked this place to do the ihop tour of Hunter valley, but it was outside the pickup area. We incurred taxi fares which, in addition to the cheap hotel cost, could have put us in another hotel. So bad, I'm lost for words. Avoid like the plague. Horrendous, Awful, the stuff of nightmares.
super nice staff, nice people from the village in the bar, cheap room and food but superb quality
fly net was broken
great help from the staff and super accommodating with their service. beers were cold and locals were very welcoming
Great value and friendly staff
Had lavae bugs falling From ceiling into our bedding through the night from birds nesting in roof. No tv in room which was disappointing. Alot of stairs so wouldn't recommend if U have disability or medical condition.
Friendly, food was great! Price was excellent
Bunk beds squeaked every time someone moved.Far too many pigeons under the eves of the roof and our personal alarm clock of one pigeon pecking on the wood of our door was a bit early but unique! lol
The lady that got us in our room was nice and very helpful.
Once we were in our room people tried getting in a few times so my friend and myself didn’t sleep at all we were terrified. There was something In the roof and the walls scratching the whole night. The bathroom didn’t have a lock, it had a latch…
The food was the only Nice thing about my stay.
The bed was rickety there was mould on the walls and the pidgeons fighting in the roof most of the night made it difficult to sleep there was no electric blanket as stated and I had to go ask for a heater as the rooms were extremely cold.
Staff were great.. food from the bistro was well priced and one of the better pub meals ive had in years. shared bathrooms could use an upgrade and better blinds on windows in bedrooms
We loved it, great place. Well located to Hunter valley gardens and wine region. Staff were amazing and very easy with kids. Will be going back again
Late check it. Comfortable beds. Pleasant staff.
Shower head was not working properly & needs replacing.
The style of pub with upstairs room . Great for couples staying in the valley .
No a/c
The meals were amazing and the price of beer was very acceptable. Staff were very friendly
Limited seating areas around the bar but we managed to make do.
Great for concerts at wineries as bus stops there
Pigeons on roof
Was not nice at all.
It was a horrible stay, the bathrooms were common bathrooms, and the room was poorly managed and overall just had a disgusting vibe. we decided to leave the hotel and stay at a friends house instead. It was lucky that we had friends living close by, if we didn’t we would’ve had to stay there.
Really good price and the country vibes
Actually, can’t complain, the property needs some maintenance but no other hotel can beat the price and location.
