Cessnock Hotel Hunter Valley

The rooms felt claustrophobic, with an unpleasant smell that made the stay uncomfortable. The shared toilets were also inconvenient and did not meet expectations. Overall, the experience was disappointing, and improvements in cleanliness, ventilation, and room comfort are needed.

There was some typical smell from carpet which was irritating

First workers on where very nice later on the night there was one lady speaking loudly towards me saying I was going the wrong way when I had the keys to go upto the room she seen me walk out of there to go into the pokies room

The bed was like sleeping on a rock

Bathrooms were not well maintained. No plugs in baths, no toilet paper in one bathroom, no soap in another.

The English guy who was at the reception was friendly and emphatic and came across genuine and willing to help.

The Hotels management of my booking incorrectly and allocating my confirmed room to someone else.Very pathetic and shallow treatment of a customer without any apology or sense of remorse.

Facilities weren’t clean , stocked

Air conditioning was very effective as it was very hot. Bathroom was reasonably close to our room. It was adequate for our needs after the concert as all other accommodation was extremely expensive.

The Hotel only closed at 3am, but this didn't really matter in our situation as we only got back at 12.30am and needed to wind down after the concert so technically this is not didn't you like as such. It really depends on your reasons for staying.

Clean tidy and comfortable, quiet and restful sleep had ,a great handy kitchenette for all guest to use and multiple bathrooms to choose from.

It was a good location because the winery tour that I booked contains sround this hotel.

I wanted to use hangers and desk.

Disappointing

My air conditioner in didn’t work for both nights on my stay. In formed staff and nothing was done. It was humid so had to leave window open and as the pub was loud I barely slept.

Noisy on Saturday night

Nothing. Horrible experience. Would not recommend to anyone. I am almost certain that the good reviews are just people getting free drinks for a good review.

The pub guest were able to access our floor so we had the pleasure to listen to drunk people walking up the stairs to use the toilets, smoking on the balcony (we could smell the smoke in our room) and just the doors opening and closing until midnight. Couldn't sleep even with earplugs. The facilities were also dirty with heaps of hair in the shower. The AC switch was covered by tape.

I felt welcomed' evening dinner was v good and prompt ... by friendly Staff.

Heard loud music from below ... but wet tissues as ear plugs always work.Room 15 still partly fronted the main street and traffic.I recall having Room 7 (I think) last year. That was quietiest.

The low price

There was a live band playing on the floor below my room, so it was very loud, but they were quite good so I did enjoy the music up until the point when I wanted to go to sleep

Staff good

Aircon not heating, tv doesn’t work,blanket very simple not heat specially for winter and rainy weather must be Protected cold also heating not adjustable.

One night rest in the middle of our way to North, last minute reservation, we arrived and the room was ready for us!

Convenient and affordable

Disappointed there was no cereal / bread in the breakfast room this morning; probably just anoversight. I expect to be in Casino in a couple of months time - at Casino Hotel.

Food was great, staff were excellent, bed was comfy

You get what you pay for, the bathrooms are functional but not great looking! Bit of a blew in the beer garden in the early hours of the morning which was entertaining but disruptive

Good location to explore hunter valley from. Not expensive.

Rooms weren’t cleaned, bathroom wasn’t cleaned. Music was so loud on Saturday night it was like you were in the room with the band and it was impossible to sleep at all.

You can't beat the price for simple, clean accomodation. Staff very friendly and helpful.

The shared bathrooms can put some people off, but if you're used to camping like us, they are fine. Clean.

On a Saturday a band were playing just below us - out belongings were shaken off the bedside lockers by the vibrations.
