Hunter Gateway Motel

Very spacious, clean well appointed room. Fast, efficient friendly check in (and out), good parking and although we were on the road side of the complex the room was not noisy as there was a wide nature strip within the complex with large glass sliding doors and a pleasant outlook. An added bonus is the hotel next door for meals, but even on week nights (in January) it was very busy.

The location was great and the room was spacious and clean! We liked the coffee,toaster,and fridge set up. The beds were very clean and comfortable.

It was easy to find. The air-conditioning worked really well to offer relief given the heat of the day.

The queen bed was so badly bowed in the middle, my husband was forced to get back up at 1:00 am and go try to sleep in the single bed. No Ubers or Taxies would come to the location for a 20 minute drive to where our event was being held. Staff couldn't find our booking on arrival, despite the confirmation sent.

Had to double lock the door, and little one’s fingers could have got stuck in the door.

Bed was great. Block out curtains & quiet meant a good night sleep, except for the earthquake ?A couple of areas to improve on- toilet seat was broken, drain in bathroom floor smelt bad, smoky smell in room on arrival.

Bed, quiet, treats, location to next door hotel, good is great.

The reception staff were open and helpful to address the problems we raised and moved us to a new room the next day. The cleaning staff on the Tuesday were friendly and helpful. The hotel location is good. The second room we were in was clean. We have stayed here twice before and everything was really good but this was a very bad experience.

Using a call centre for after hours checkin and you are left on hold for 10 to 15 minutes till they answer to tell your room number. We had booked a deluxe room and the entry door was out of alignment so difficult to open and close, the curtains were broken so there was no privacy, the fridge was behind a closed door which resulted in it over heating the shower door was broken when we entered the room and to top it off the toilet cistern made a loud indescribable noise for three hours at night. The public holiday staffing of the reception was minimal and not reflected in the information provided online at booking. We had tea cups but no teaspoons to make coffee and 400mls of milk for a four day public holiday for three people and two glasses for drinking for three people. There were dead bugs on the floor which had actually decayed so I am unsure how long they were there for and not vacuumed up. The bedding was questionable whether it was fresh as it had hairs (not our own) on it. The general property maintainable even in the carpark area seems to be neglected.
