The Reef Resort

Great poolside room (with two bathrooms!) and lovely staff. Barbecue, book shelf, warm water, close to path... everything was considered.

Jenny, the front desk/manager, was very helpful with side benefits for my local interests, the place was stocked with everything I would need, and more. One of the potential difficulties of a resort like this is the noise and chaos some families present to other guests. Reef Resort does a wonderful job of managing all that and despite the full house, I always felt I was there alone. I hope I get a chance to return there someday.

We loved how we were so close to the water... and the springs and that you had the bikes available. was very surprised they were always available. I was driven to the airport by Ginny this was such service. Also I had left a few things in the room and they promptly let me know after.

I can not really think of much

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, unfortunately we did not get a Lake View but it was a short walk to the Lake with direct access from the resort and we spent most of our time outdoors anyway. The thermal pools were amazing after long days exploring and hiking around Taupo. Taupo centre is a good walk away but again we love to walk so not an issue. The lady on reception was friendly and helpful and ensured everything was clean and fresh pool towels available.

Our air conditioning was not the greatest however this is a small complaint and to be honest we did not enquire with the hotel to see if it could made cooler.

The location was perfect for being on the lake. Clean rooms with a full kitchen. Comfortable beds. Helpful staff. Onsite parking.

We had an excellent family stay at this resort and couldn’t fault the experience. The fresh thermal pools were easily the best we’ve enjoyed—beautifully maintained, clean, and never overcrowded, which made them perfect for relaxing with the family. The resort itself was spotless and well cared for, and the hosts were absolutely fantastic,friendly and welcoming. It’s rare to find a place that gets all the details right. Without a doubt, this is one of the best places we’ve stayed in Taupō, and we wouldn’t hesitate to return or recommend it to others.

The heated pool and hot tub were my favorite part!

No elevator! Our bags were heavy so carrying them up the stairs were difficult

Amazing lake view. John at front desk was very nice. The beds have electric blanket which was a nice touch, and a towel heater.

No elevator. Very low power microwave took long time to heat water. Coffee made with plunger device is a fail. A coffee maker would be much better.

Loved the heated pool and spa and the bike option.

We love the pool and garden area and the cleanliness of the place, plus the chilled out and friendly vibe.

The bathroom we had could use an extractor fan as the neighbours could see into the shower if the windows were open.

Clean, tidy, well organised. It’s the little things that make the difference, like robes to wear down to the pools and biscuits supplied!

Very clean peaceful tidy place

The pool was nice and spacious, my family used it more as their room lead straight into the pool area. They were also quite impressed with the room and it's tidiness. I enjoyed how peaceful and calm the hotel was, and how quickly staff came to help me when a problem did occur.

My family had no complaints, however, when I tried to take a shower, I had turned the shower tap all the way to the left to get the hot water, however it was cold, I tried turning it to the right just in case and it was still cold. The next day I went and got some assistance and it was indeed meant to turn right which they admitted was unusual. Nothing crazy but slightly inconvenient.

Hosts very friendly, facilities and room were spotlessly clean and stylish. Everything comfortable and the view was lovely.
