Close to town easy to find

There was lots of movement up stairs from us so kept awake

Friendly and very helpful staff. Comfy bed and peaceful environment.

Nice hostel with great amenities. Good location. Few mins walk to town centre. Very convenient.

Everything was great, however guests made a lot of noise by being too loud, but it’s of course nothing to do with the property, just people’s general behaviour.

The noise from the kitchen, it was impossible to sleep in, the staff couldn’t give as a solution, and the place is falling apart, please don’t stay here. The bathroom looks like a hospital toilet .

Slight issue with flies in the shower room, but a minor issue. Everything else was perfect

Location was good

Small room for the price, it fit the bed and not much else. Extremely strict cancellation policy, things were beyond control with arrival to the premises (Cook strait ferry delay) so missed 1 night of a 2 night booking, was happy to provide evidence but staff just said to was company policy and no room to budge without even trying. Also shared bathroom was average and only one in our section of the facility

Great location, everything in town is walking distance, especially the lake. Free parking. Comfy beds.

This is the third Haka house I did on the trip and I have to say this one was a bit lacking compared to the other two (Auckland and Rotorua). I don’t know if it’s because reno hasn’t reached it yet but it’s a bit older and the lock on my bed wasn’t working which the staff knew about but nothing had been done about it

The staff were friendly and helpful. Gave me a single bed in a dorm room when I asked to be near a window. Views of the lake from thd huge sundeck where we could have meals.

No elevator. Nothing else really.

i stayed in a 5 bed female room- Good size lockers- you just need a large lock. own charging cables and lights in each bed as well as a curtain to cover your area and good kitchen facilities. Bathrooms are also nice and great view

A bit squishy in the room and hence noisy as you are scrounging through ur stuff right next to peoples heads. The kitchen also had no communal oil, salt pepper or any seasonings which is fine but the kitchen did feel slightly unorganised with cleaning supplies and etc.

The location was perfect, a comfortable walk to the centre but far away from any noise.

i loved the layout encouraged people to be social, wasnt too crowded during breakfast/ dinners the shwers were some of the best ive used in hostels! great temp and pressure and bathrooms were nice and clean

maybe some board games people could share to encourage people to make new friends?

Location was good. Parking was good.

No bath towels. Cost us 565.00 for 2 for 2 nights. Room was lucky if it was 2.5m x 2.5 metres. Handwash pump did not work. Basic TV channels. Pretty disappointed.

Clean enough, big kitchen. Bed with drape covers.

staff were super sweet and welcoming and seemed genuinely interested in enriching my time in taupō as a solo backpacker; really appreciated the complimentary shower gel in the bathrooms; bunks were sturdy and cosy and i had no problem with the bedrooms whatsoever

the bathroom facilities in the separate secondary building in which i was staying felt a bit lacking, with only one of the bathrooms having a mirror; sometimes this separate smaller kitchen was so dirty in the morning it made me anxious to touch anything

The hostel is very clean, the room was comfortable and nice. Location is very good and they can book different tours.

I stayed here with a friend and unfortunately our experience wasn’t very comfortable. The hostel appears to be long-term accommodation for many residents, which wasn’t clearly communicated beforehand.Noise levels were very high late into the night, making it difficult to rest. We also encountered several uncomfortable situations in shared spaces, including seeing guests walking around in only towels and another guest exposing himself in the lounge area, which felt inappropriate and unsafe.We were unaware that the bathroom and toilet were fully shared, and cleanliness was an issue — there was a mug left in the shower and a lot of hair stuck to the walls, which was off-putting.Overall, the lack of privacy, cleanliness, and clear communication about the type of accommodation made this stay disappointing. I wouldn’t recommend this place unless improvements are made.
