Caves Motor Inn Waitomo

It was close to all the things I was doing. Ivan the caretaker was super nice.

You could hear the cars racing by. They did provide ear plugs and I can sleep through anything so ot wasn¿t bad.

The bedding smelled unclean. Windows (no screens) were open when we got there so plenty of bugs were inside. Got bitten through the night.

Pleasant enough and excellent location for visiting the caves, staff were lovely and the roast delicious!

We left tablets behind and Ivan arranged to post them on to Queenstown to us. Couldn't ask for more

Was a clean, comfortable room and close to the caves. Easy access and very quiet.

Very basic facility for one night. Dinner meal was excellent, large portion, very friendly staff. Purchased breakfast was reasonable and delivered to our room. Different choices of spread and cereal available at our request.

Very close to the highway so you can hear cars and trucks easily. If you are a light sleeper might not be a good choice for you. The facility does provide hear plug for that reason.

Convenient location for Waitomo caves. Electric blankets - I imagine this would be great in winter.

No air conditioning. Window latch broken. One towel left in room that had clearly been used - this was replaced. A bit dated.

I was surprised how damp it was, clothes in my bag were damp from my bag being on the floor overnight. As were my socks from walking around. The windows are wooden framed and has condensation which is fine, but I'm really surprised at the carpet being damp. We weren't in there long.

Staff were great, they were friendly, helpful and very accommodating. And the kai was good aswell. So good to have an onsite restaurant

It’s not a what didn’t you like because i wouldn’t have stayed there if i didn’t like it so it’s more a ‘would like to see’ new carpet to give the rooms a fresher feel and i think the damp old musty smell will go. It’s not a strong smell but it is there.

It would be better if a tissue box could be provided. Anyway the overall experience was great.

Very good big room. The staff were extremely good. The onsite restaurant served excellent home cooked food. Close to the glow worm caves.

Room had everything we needed, the shower was very good. Fridge door very difficult to open. Bed was quite comfy and there were lots of pillows. The view from our studio was lovely.

Noisy trucks and trains all night, understandable being on a main road which I didn't factor in when booking. Nice gesture to leave earplugs which we used and this helped reduce the night noise.

Really comfortable stay, great restaurant and very friendly staff. So glad we stopped here after visiting the Waitomo caves

Clean, convenient location, free parking, friendly staff, in house restaurant available. Basic but perfectly fine for one night. Only 8 minutes from Otorohanga (restaurants, shops, kiwi house etc).

Bit noisy on main road (trucks leaving early).

Staff were very helpful with my questions. Room came with complimentary ear plugs, guessing because of trains and traffic. But they really weren't that loud. Comfortable bed
