    Pros +

    • Easy assess to places, the friendliness of the staff, the view from the common room was great
    • Friendly accommodation in the heart of the city. Lovely, clean and bright communal areas with stylish attention to detail. A real gem in the backpacking world.
    • Very friendly hostel with comfortable rooms, ensuite bathroom, and wonderful terrace overlooking Tauranga. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything necessary and there was an Intercity and public bus stop nearby.

    Cons -

    • The top bunk was challenging given my age but that's dorm life.
    • If you are wishing to stay near Mt Maunganui and traveling via public transport, this hostel is not for you (about 25 min bus drive from Mt Maunganui and the main town)
    • All good.

Location was great very convenient to get to Mount Manganui by bus. Grateful for the free Kiwi fruit from all the residence that were working as pickers. They were delicious!

Very disappointing, walked in the room at night found out my bed was cleaned and changed previous to my check-out time,n

Avoid the beds in the end of M2,at night there are trains roar by so loud you'll be woken from sleep

    Not much

Room was expensive and had no facilities apart from a wash basin.

Having booked very late with most accomodations fullWarm and fine, this turned out to be a backpacker's place, where they, upon seeing us pensioners, upgraded us to a room with private bathroom. Basic but fine!

    Great kitchen and social area

The noise outside of the building. Close to bars so some noise til late. But i am an older traveller and did need to get up early. For some they would be out there anyway having a good time?

Perfect location, super nice view from the Terrace of the kitchen on the 2nd floor. Kitchen was very clean and rooms tidy.

Parking is a bit difficult but that’s a town problem in general, the matress is a bit worn through

Excellent hostel in the best neighborhood. We had the double room with en-suite which was very comfortable. The common spaces were high quality and staff friendly and knowledgeable about the area.

There rooms were a bit small, but very comfy. Very nice common facilities. Good location.

    9LindsayPosted on: 3-4-2025

    Great location. Friendly helpful staff.

Shower head is a bit low for taller people.

    8EmilyPosted on: 2-27-2025

Very social. Great location and staff really friendly

    Mixed gender bathroom.

    9LoekaPosted on: 2-21-2025

The kitchen was spacious, and everything in the hostel was kept very clean and tidy. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful!

My only downside were the beds as they were not the most comfortable.

    9LesorchardPosted on: 2-19-2025

The fact that I could just walk in and be directed to a bed with a fantastic view in a matter of minutes. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and I had no hassles what so ever.

The train roaring past in the middle of the night.

    Not a lot

The bar music from below. The insistence on photo ID after I had paid in full and recording the detail of that ID. An abuse of your position in my view and unwarranted given our Privacy laws. Definitely won't be returning.

Nice room but small Large cooking facility Window opened in room but looked out onto the back of a restaurant kitchen Nice tea and coffee in room with welcome

No aircon Not very much round about. Better to goto the Mt for food/ beach etc

One of the nicest hostels I've been to! I loved the location, very beautiful building, and the terrace overlooking the bay is the perfect spot to have breakfast!Shout-out to the staff! They were so nice and helpful (especially Luciano), as a solo traveler it is much appreciated. The bathrooms and showers were clean, the dorms as well.

It would've been nice to have social activities organized by the hostel, like game nights or shared meals, but I had fun and met friends either way :)
