It’s in town area. Food, shopping etc all nearby.
Shower head can’t be hand held.
A very quaint and heritage listed place to stay on our travels with a breakfast included
Great location, friendly staff.
Old hotel. Exactly what you expect from the photos. With a little updating would expect to pay more.
The hotel was very clean , staff lovely , the architect was beautiful , but the room we stayed in was very basic and very cold , even tho , they had electric blankets and a heater on the wall , that only I quarter of it worked, the room was very cold , so cold we had to ditch there and go to a motel up the road , this is just the way things are , the building is very old , so from heritage rules they probably can't do much , but still building was clean , they also had no TV in room
Room very very cold , they had a heater on wall, but it wasn't working for properly, room very basic as well , no TV
Fabulous old building, excellent location and value for money. The meals were delicious, I will definitely stay there again.
When i checked into my room i found it hadn't even been cleaned. So i had to go and wait for another hr while they had the cleaner return to complete their job. BUTthe lovely staff were very apologetic. And tried to find me a clean room . They were very sweet.
Having to go away and wait for my room to be cleaned.
Lovely period hotel. Good atmosphere. Good meal. Very central. Very clean. Good staff.
Room was very small but I imagine that is the size that these rooms were initially built.
The grand entrance, famous room and stately feel.
It was a dark corridors to our room, a light would have been great.
The staircase
The room. No tv, no fridge and no aircon. Booked a table for dinner at 6pm. One meal came out at 7.30 and the other one came out at 7.55.
Location. Facade. History. Restaurant and continental breakfast
Noisy. People. Flooring etc and only a double bed.
Convenient location opposite the Wilderness Railway Station and easy to find on the main road into town. Room is basic but clean and comfortable for short stays. Shared ensuite bathrooms were very well kept.
Restaurant was very busy (but food very good) - can be tricky getting a table as a solo traveller at dinner time.
The breakfast was poor. Supermarket white bread. Only bananas and apples. Juice was a mix.
The room was noisy, cramped and not dark. The breakfast was ordinary. The dinner was nice but took well over an hour to be served. The staff were aimiable but a bit clueless. Beautiful building. There must be better rooms and they should showcase them and not use the dingy little dungeon rooms, it's not like it was busy. Upskill the staff so they're more professional. Warn people when there will be a significant wait for meals. Provide real juice, coffee and a good selection of fresh fruit for breakfast.
Location - that's it.
***Do not stay here***Danger - be warned*** Lowest point of our 8 day Tassie adventure. From the moment we got into this run down motel, nothing but trouble. I'm surprised it's still actually standing. Staff are very rude and stuffed up our booking, not a simple apology?. Zero or less for customer service. There is no carpark for the hotel, not even a single close by spot to drop-off your luggage. So many sets of stairs to get to your room, no lift. There was a woman in the bar (Kirsty) gave us the keys said it is ok to park at the front of the entrance to drop our stuff, only to get yelled at by another man (seems to be the manager or the owner) to remove our vehicle immediately as he was going to get fined?, what a moron☹️. The rooms are so smelly (old wet carpet smells) and everything inside is dirty, old, half broken or broken - too many to mention. We booked for a four person's room, gave us a three person room as they gave our room to someone else. When we complained, they dragged another single bed from another room and stuffed into ours, barely enough space to walk in-between. When I say dragged, they literally dragged a bed on the floor with sheets and blankets dragging and dropping on the hallway, which we had to sleep at night?.Dining room ceiling is caving in and patched up temporarily with few plywood sheathing - could drop on your head anytime ?. They dragged us the bed for the fourth person, but no extra towels, mugs or glasses (only three in the room). Toilet door lock didn't work, broken heater (we were in cold), caved in bed, broken tv remote, tripping power board, torn carpets, ran out soap dispenser - the list is too long, we decided not to even bother to ask as we didn't want to see their faces. We survived the night and got out of this hellhole quickly in the morning. And the breakfast is just toast and jam with cereal - why I'm not surprised ?. Do you and your family a big favour, pls find some other place.
Wow! What can I say. A beautifully renovated room and new ensuite. A lovely upstairs verandah perfect to sit with a drink, enjoy the sun on your back and a delightful view. We ordered dinner which was delivered to or room and it was quite honestly the best pub meal we have eaten. (The beef cheeks and lamb shanks).Nothing was a problem for the lovely staff. The breakfast was included and it was at a VERY reasonable price. Would most definitely return!
Good restaurant and buffet breakfast
Bathroom Ok, clean but cramped
Only historical staircase
Bad linens, no shampoo, no conditioner. Broken and torn beds and cover. No ventilation.Just soaps were given. Only 1 or 2 towels were given for 4 people.
Very good value, bags of character, generous breakfast. Any chance of getting the servo next door to put a deflector on their security lighting? It shines directly into the rooms at night and lights them up like day. Or install blackout curtains?
