    Pros +

    • Everything. Spacious room. Great service. Kind staff.
    • The view from the room was fantastic, and it was super quiet to sleep in! Mattresses were good and so were pillows.
    • Great location, incredible Kew from the room. Awesome food and staff were exceptional

    Cons -

    • Was just missing a few things in regards to details, some of the rooms were super lavish and lovely and it just felt like other places had severely cut corners budget wise, not something you would expect for a 4 star hotel. The toilet felt like it was from the 80s while the bathroom was so lovely and nice it just didnt make sense. Also how is it 2025 and we are still not offering a diffuser attachment for the hairdryer?? They had one for blowout but no diffuser! Do curly haired people not need to dry their hair?!? The hairdryer was so strong with no soft air option i left looking like a poofy mess…
    • It needs a bit of a facelift
    • Breakfast and dinner menus were expensive at the top-floor restaurant, though it does have a great view of the lake. Check-in staff’s English was a bit poor and incomprehensible.

In front of Lake Biwa, offering a feeling of serenity. The room was spacious for its price.

Breakfast and dinner menus were expensive at the top-floor restaurant, though it does have a great view of the lake. Check-in staff’s English was a bit poor and incomprehensible.

Being a luxury chain hotel, everything was of the Western-style. Staff was very accommodating - English friendly. There are a ton of amenities located on the property (tennis courts, gym, etc.) They have an in-hotel restaurant that was really classy, possibly the classiest meal I've had in Japan - nothing like the Marriott Hotels in America.

Aside from being located across some of the Biwako statues and landmarks, there isn't much to do around the area. You are more or less limited to what the Hotel has to offer (which it has a lot of). Unless you have a car or are renting a taxi, you are limited to having dinner at the Hotel (which isn't a bad thing, but expensive).

    Very crowded at breakfast.

Very clean and tidy, good service, spacious and beautiful view.

The shuttle bus service is too infrequent

    10DarinPosted on: 7-31-2024

The staff was very friendly and supportive. When a family with loud children made disturbances next door. The front staff moved us to a quiet room. The breakfast was also excellent.

staff were very nice and they answered me quicky possible.

i didn't check the Shattle bus schedule at Katata station. it was more than 1 hour waiting. I used a taxi.

Room was spacious and view of lake biwa was amazing. Conveniently located to many attractions around Biwa

No coin laundry service in hotel

Excellent hotel right by Lake Biwa. Booked last minute during off-season after a day hike along the lake. The hotel offers a free shuttle bus from JR Katata Station every half an hour.Gym is new and equipped enough for a quick workout, the sports facilities and public bath are located in an older wing but well-maintained. The Japanese style room with lake view was good. Meanwhile, the restaurant on the top floor with a near 360-degree view of Lake Biwa for breakfast was outstanding, together with a rich Japanese and Western buffet served by very attentive staff.Would definitely stay again!

The only store nearby is the Pieri shopping centre, a 15-to-20-minute walk away. There is a sidewalk, but the light is sparse and dim in the evening, making it hard to navigate. Having the shuttle bus stop at the centre during various times of the day would be great.

Location view was nice, onsen in room felt good.

Entirely overpriced for what you get. Room is good but not great, view is nice but there's not a lot to do close, onsen is nice but doesn't shut off fully so I hope you're okay with noise all night long. Compared to everywhere else I stayed during my trip to Japan, this one I wish I could take back.

Beautiful lakeside and spacious Japanese room

Public bath is too simple, guess it's not onsen area

We did an upgrade to a western style room facing the lake. The lake view is beautiful.

    Big size room

Japanese style room overlooking the lake, delicious buffet breakfast.

Missed out on seeing the planetarium due to not realising minimum shows run per day

    1GeorgePosted on: 9-22-2023

The breakfast was ok. And the staff was very helpful.

The problem was the value for money. You simply cannot charge over 650.000 Yen for a simple room with two beds, a deplorable view, for one night and then ask for one or two hundred yen for one (1!) table tennis ball. Really? We tried to have some dinner, but no room service after 9 p.m. or something.

The japanese style room is spacious and clean. Nice view to Biwako. A good place to start Biwa Lake Cycling Trip as a bike shop is next to the hotel. 15 min walk to shopping mall and supemarket
