We didn't expect the self service grilled breakfast, we took bath and fresh but we smell food after breakfast.
The male staff in dinner room rush for everything, usually, I experienced only the polite japanese style service but this male staff seems to be in hurried .
great dinner and breakfast. The dinner is a 12 course omakase, which included Omi beef. Really enjoyed it. The breakfast is also top notch! The room size is very large and comfortable. The Spa is very nice in an outdoor setting.Hotel staff offers truly Japanese style hospitality!
The dinner and breakfast are amazing and very delicious. The room is spacious and very clean. The staff are friendly and helpful. The overall experience is wonderful.
The ventilation of the toilet room is not strong enough to remove the odours quickly.
Very comfortable check in processHappy hour free drinks is good but I would like the option of more choice even if I have to pay.
I would prefer a proper bed.
We were totally blown away by this hotel. We were greeted by the female staff in Kimono upon arrival, invited to the lobby for check-in for our comfort. The room were equipped with everything we need and more. It was so spacious 4 of us could spread out. The private bath with real hot spring water was placed by the lake Biwa side so was able to enjoy the bath at our timing. We were fortunate to be able to see the beautiful sunrise! Loved the fact we get to pick our own Yukata (room-ware we were allowed to walk around the hotel)! The several drinks were available at all near Onsen and to top it off, during the social hours, the snack and wine was also available. Coffee machine was placed at the lobby and tea and snack were already in the room. The dinner was very scrumptious and perfectly timed. It was traditional Japanese dinner (there are several options for dinner, we picked shabu shabu along with other seasonal and lesional dish) We were more than pleased with quality and quantity of dinner. The breakfast buffet was totally beyond our imagination or expectation. So much to choose from and they all tasted excellent. We also got massage, and it was very relaxing and effective. Ito-san was the one who gave me the massage. I had enjoyed the massage as well as small talked I had with her. It is not exactly cheap to stay especially charge is per person not per room, but it was worth every dime. Highly recommend this hotel with someone who would like special experience while you are in Japan.
I cannot think of anything we were not pleased with. They were great from the time we took the shuttle bus to the moment we arrived at the train station the next day. Make sure to stay at least one night at hotel like this while visiting Japan for authentic Japanese trip experience!
Good location, friendly staff, good selection of food. Nice public and private baths!
Nothing!
We loved our stay here!!! The private onsen on our patio was so beautiful (overlooking the lake), and the whole experience was amazing! The room was so spacious, and the meals were beautiful!
I loved the attention to detail and customer service that was provided. We were traveling with family and the staff were very accomodating and made us feel welcomed. My wife and I were with our Baby and they provided us with an exceptional room with extra space that came at a very minimal difference in pay compared to the other rooms. The dinner was also very impressive with our own private server to accomodate our party of 9 and a large room to ourselves. The private onsen in room were wonderful after a long day of walking and sight seeing, and the public onsen on the premise was beautiful. The hotel is a little out of main Kyoto, but not a hassle when its simply one train line from Kyoto Station to Ogoto Onsen Station, and they have their own private bus that comes when you call it via a cellphone located at the station (look at their instagram for guidance on how to locate and use the cellphone). Overall this is my second time staying here, first time was for my honeymoon, and the family was quite impressed with how luxurious and accomodating everything was.10/10 only regret is we didnt stay more than 2 nights!
i found zero issues with this hotel
Wow! Such an amazing stay!Great experience with a private onsen in front of the lake. The room was very beautiful Japanese styled, and super clean. The breakfast was one of the best we had!
The dinner was traditional local dinner. It was very well-prepared and carefully crafted, but the flavors were not to our taste. Yet worth trying.
Private room onsen, lovely kaiseiki dinner
Breakfast a little disappointing.
The food selection was great and very fresh, the bathing area was clean and well kept, and the staff were very friendly.
A little confusing to navigate
I liked how friendly the staff was and how many things there were to do at the facility! We did onsen (in our room and the public onsen), walked around the grounds, did karaoke, and enjoyed the multi course dinner!
Everything was great! no complaints
I reserved 3 Japanese-Style Deluxe Rooms with Open-Air Baths along with the dinner and breakfast. The rooms were all nice sizes and the futons were comfortable. The dinner was definitely a unique experience and is something you should do at least once. The breakfast had a great selection and was very good.
What we didn't like was how small the open air bath was in the room. Based on the photos it looked like it could have accommodated 2 to 3 people but only 2 fit at most (it depends on the size of person). The only other issue was not having a large enough yukata available that would fit one of my kids.
Pristine property, wonderful amenities, good atmosphere. We took the boat tour from behind the hotel one of the days and it was great, and we went over Mount Hiei another day on the cable railways using the hotel shuttle and really enjoyed it. It was fun to plan our days around snack time, and it was a great feeling to come back from the crowded city or outdoor activities and relax with complimentary wine and a lake view. While Kyoto proper had a ton of foreigners that kinda lessened the experience, the hotel was far enough out it didn't feel crowded, and less than a third of the guests seemed to be foreigners. Also larger baths than I expected!
We got the traditional room with a private onsen for the 4 of us ($700ish per night, but nice since a member of our group had tattoos), and while it was very cool and unique, we'd probably do a cheaper tier of room or a hotel walking distance to a train station if we did it again. And maybe we came with the wrong expectations, but the area around the hotel didn't have much accessible on foot. The nearby roads didn't always have sidewalks, and had enough higher speed traffic that they weren't that pleasant to walk on. The hotel shuttle was pretty useful but it wasn't that easy to coordinate - we had some language issues as english speakers, and we weren't sure if we were abusing it - it might be better to allow people to send map pins for pickup and make the policies clearer.
Beautiful rooms overlooking the stunning garden and Lake Biwa. Would recommend this for anyone with any special occasion
Really liked the onsen. The staff were great really friendly and helpful. It was a relaxing day and night for the family.
There was nothing to complain about.
* The room is quite good and one can see the lake from the hall.* Breakfast had quite a lot of seafood and the grilled seafood was especially tasty & generous.* Friendly staff.* Good onsen with coconut water to drink after. There was sauna as well.* Shuttle pick up and drop off were very useful & convenient, I was able to make the call from the train station upon my arrival (useful since I didn't have Japanese phone number).
* Dinner was decent, not as tasty as expected. There weren't any outstanding dishes except one of the appetizers.* Quite limited places to visit around the area.* Ventilation in the restaurant was indeed, not very good. I recommend taking shower after eating, else your hair would stink.
