- The property is fantastic and exactly as pictured. Each room no matter where you are assigned has a stunning view of the beach/ocean. For the food - every single thing we ate was delicious and the cocktails are well prepared. Be sure to try the gazpacho - it is perfect after a hot day in the sun! There are plenty of places to lounge so you don't need to wake up early and 'reserve' a beach chair - we never had a problem and there are different spaces to sit (chairs, beds, hammock). My only regret is not staying longer.
- The penthouse was fabulous - location on the beach fantastic and staff super helpful and friendly.
- The staff were friendly and helpful and made us feel at home right away. I had forgotten to put in my booking that we had our 1 year old daughter with us and the staff were not fazed at all. We arrived very late but they had thought ahead to ask the driver who collected us from Mombasa to take our order for dinner so there was food for us when we arrived even though the kitchen had closed. The hotel is really beautiful and has an amazing view of the sea. The way the sunbeds and pool is laid out it feels like you are on the beach without actually being on the beach. If you wish to get in the sea it is just down some steps. The staff helped us with all encounters with the hawkers on the beach. It is definitely the most beautiful of the resorts in the area that we saw online and in real life when we explored the area. It looks exactly like the pictures which I have found is not always the case with hotels on booking.com.The food was really good and was much better than what we had been eating on safari and in Nairobi. The highlights were the prawns and tuna. We would have enjoyed a little more variety and African influenced food on the menu but there were daily specials which hit the spot. The staff did seem a little hurt when we had dinner out one night (there's a really good Korean restaurant just at the end of the driveway to the hotel). As the hotel is so small it is understandable that they would want you to eat/spend money with them rather than elsewhere.
Cons -
- There was a mix up with the airport pickup (there are two local airports, FYI) but the hotel apologized and made it right.
- There was nothing we didn't like. This was honestly one of the best hotels I have been to.
- The food the food the food the fooood was so bad and small portions Also its way overpriced for what you get

This place is so serene and peaceful, you relax the moment you step in. Service is impeccable and the staff really are what makes the experience outstanding. Food is really good and the view from the balconies is incredible. Can’t recommend this place enough!
The place is amazing!!! They room as super well decorated with african art. Bed is huge. The room has a huge terrasse with a view towards the beach. The wash room is amazing. It has robes, beach bags, the stone shower is amazing. The hotel has a changing room close to the beach with a shower so you can shower there. The free breakfast is super good and they also offer free snack in the evening. The staff is really really nice. When u leave they offer you a keychain.
Dont book your excursions with them, they are 3x more expensive then if you book them separetely.
The outdoor space at water lovers is fantastic, the views are stunning and the staff are amazing. We hired the villa and a studio, the studio’s are very nice.
We hired the villa as well as a studio. Though the villa is described as open we were disappointed that the 2 beds upstairs had no doors/ protection/ security. Though there is 24hours security guard we had kids in our party and we didn’t feel comfortable splitting up, just in case of intruders, though more of a nuisance monkeys do come in too. So we had to ask for extra beds in the bedrooms. I would also say the kitchen is not fully functional.
We were lucky to stay in the penthouse. Amazing! Very big apartment with a stunning view! Large and clean rooms , nicely decorated. The staff was so kind, always friendly and willing to help you , one of them Ali liked playing football with our son! Football, snorkels, surfboards are available which was fun for the kids! The food is very nice as well, always served with a smile! Very clean beach, there are beachboys trying to sell you things, but they stay friendly and take no for an answer. Overall a great place to stay for a few days to rest after your safari tour.
The property is beautiful and the food is great ( grilled prawns)Staff and management are very friendly and helpful and made the stay worthwhile
Waterlovers Beach Resort is the most beautiful resort I've ever stayed at. It's a small, intimate resort overlooking a fabulous beach. The rooms are charming, spacious and very clean, with breathtaking views. The pool area and beach with its comfortable loungers are extremely well maintained. Breakfast and meals are delicious. But what makes this resort so exceptional is the kindness and professionalism of the staff. The dining room staff were attentive at every meal, the houskeepers in charge of my room was incredibly kind and professional, and I'd like to give a special mention to Abdhalla in charge of the bar, who is quite simply an exceptional bartender and so passionate about his work. He's extremely kind, funny and welcoming. He makes you feel at home and definitely makes you want to spend time at the bar! He is like the soul of the Waterlovers - Thank you, Abdhalla!I so much loved all of this amazing staff that goes above and beyond to make sure we feel comfortable and happy. It just makes you want to stay there forever !
Such a lovely hotel. It’s absolutely beautiful, great pool, bar and staff. Great location near the supermarket, wine shop and some restaurants. Definitely would return.
There were so many beach boys who were really persistent in-front of the hotel which made going for a swim in the sea intimidating. Also some lights of the road leading to the hotel would be good as it’s dark and scary when walking back and forth from the main road.
Nice small resort with a personal touch. Very pleasant and friendly staff. Great location right on the most amazing beach.
Staff was very friendly and attentive! Pool and beach areas have great views and access. My cottage was adorable and very comfortable. My massage by Marion was fantastic!
nice staff
air conditioning not working/sea view limited from the basement rooms
Breakfast was excellent. They offered fresh fruits, and a variety of other options. The only drawback was the bees. I couldnt enjoy my breakfast with so many bees attacking my food plate.
If they could find a way to control the bees, it would be fantastic.
- The design and layout of the resort is beautiful- The staff are friendly, characterful individuals (the place has some soul)- The breakfast spread was excellent and delicious. Not huge but all very nice.- Afternoon tea was also great with lovely homemade cookies!- very family friendly: sand around the pool area for playing in, nice big shallow end to wade around in. Easter egg hunt and a wee goodbye trinket from the lovely manager Valentina.- nice wee collection of things for big and little people to have fun at the beach with: box of sand toys, kayaks, snorkels, body boards...- beach is beautiful and hassle minimal - other comments about seaweed are ridiculous, unless you like a lifeless Mediterranean.
- Fixed menus for lunch and dinner were very expensive for the quality - we were very happy not to have paid for even half board. Asha, next door, was far superior for both quality and value. A real shame as the breakfast was so good and the resort so lovely.- Beach boy was super lovely and helpful though I was sad to see him raking the beach seaweed (and plastic litter) into piles and burying it under the sand. A problem for another day... - Taxi transfer to Ukunda was EXTORTIONATE - 18usd for a 5-10min drive!! And it arrived half an hour late creating a lot of unnecessary stress. The hotel could offer their own car for less and still make money/make the car pay for itself and it would always be punctual!
The room was fantastic, staff were great and the food exceptional. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Our last dinner was amazing with great food, service and with a breathtaking view.
The internet could be improved but this is an issue for the provider. Even 4g was unpredictable. Internet wherever we went at Diani was not the best so it’s not Waterlovers fault.
I never leave reviews but had to this time. Amazing for a couple or family. Staff are super friendly, efficient and cater to your every need. Clean and very well organised. The size of the food menu isn’t big but the food is delicious and have a lot of gluten free options.
Nothing to do with the hotel itself but the looky-looky men on the beach can be very annoying trying to sell you souvenirs.
The property was very peaceful, well maintained, clean and the staff were so nice.
Amazing staff and location
