The staff was very rude and communication was uneasy. The hotel is old and outdated.

The hotel did provide umbrellas, which really convenience if it is rain or snow fall. The room is quite big compared to majority hotel in Japan.

Customer Service was fantastic and facilitated our requests. Located is a short walk from the main Nagano Station. Also able to rent bikes from the facility, which is a great day activity.

Quiet and clean room Room size is big Daily replenishment of coffee and tea capsules as there's a coffee maker in the roomHeater is strong so we do without it and opens the window to let the cool air in and close it before we sleep. Location is good. About 15 mins straight walk to the temple and 10 mins walk to Nagano stationStaff are friendly and helpful. Right after we checked out from Hotel JAL City Nagano, we sought the staff help to call another hotel (which we are supposed to travel and check in that day) to arrange the complimentary transport service on our behalf as we were unable to do so because the other hotel staff can't communicate in English. There's a great pizza shop right at the corner of the hotel.Across the road has a supermarket.

Nothing much really. If really want to nitpick, probably is the toilet system which needs to ensure the flushing system can handle the very limited amount of toilet paper otherwise it will be stuck. Just need some tender loving care and all is well.

the location is good in the city centre

we couldn't adjust air conditioner temperature. it was set at 28c degree which is hot. we try to endure with it sleeping without a blanket. then at 5am the air con suddenly stopped working. we couldn't call the staff with in-room telephone so we have to go outside of the room to report the staff. the staff couldn't fix it and gave us a fan to sleep through the night. we have to end up sleep with a fan and open a window for air flow so that we can breathe. it was terrible.

The location was great and the room was fairly big and clean.

Our room was so hot- they had the heat on when we would have preferred the air conditioning. We went down to the front desk to ask them to turn off our heat and they really couldn't do anything. We had a hard time sleeping because of this. We originally booked a room for two nights that could be canceled for free one day before. After we checked in a realized the room was so uncomfortable, we asked to check out one day earlier and a refund for the second unused night. Although booking.com tried to get us this refund, the hotel refused to honor us a refund since we already check in. I think they should have given us the credit since it was still one day before the second night ( which follows the cancelation plan of one day prior). The bathroom is also very tight even though the room is fairly big for Japan standards.
