Pros +
- Room was very spacious, staff there were very nice and friendly.Overall, a great experience.
- The hotel has a friendly and cosy vibe. The room decor can feel quite dated (e.g. retro digital alarm clock built into the headboard) but is extremely spacious and comfortably accommodated a family of 4 (including 2 teenagers). Buffet breakfast (from 7am to 9am) was fantastic and the Japanese breakfast options (e.g. fresh sashimi) were some of the best we had during our trip. The hotel was also conveniently located next to a supermarket, bakery and McDonald's (3 minutes' walk), so it was very convenient to grab some take-away dinner (there are microwave and stoves in the room for simple heating/cooking). The restaurants/food outlets at the Prince Karuizawa mall (15 minutes' walk) closes at 7pm so there are not many food options in the vicinity after that time. There's also free access to the hotel public bath to warm up after a day exploring Karuizawa (the hotel is an easy 15 minutes' walk to the Kumoba Pond, from there it's another 15 minutes' walk to the Old Karuizawa Ginza Street).
- Large room with a kitchenette. Exceptional market near hotel.
Cons -
- Rooms were a bit old
- Hotel is around 900m from the Karuizawa Train Station, it's not an easy walk if you're travelling with luggages. However, taxis are easily available to and from the hotel (which doesn't offer any shuttle service).
- The heater took a very long time to start so we often bathed in cold water or washed our dishes in cold water. If we wanted a warm bath, we would have to run the water for 5-10 minutes beforehand.

Large room with a kitchenette. Exceptional market near hotel.
Very spacious rooms, clean, comfortable, conveniently located near Truffle Bakery and Delicia Supermarket. Parking available.

The room was spacious and clean.
The doors to the bathroom and living area were awkward. if you left the living area door open, you could get locked in the bathroom by the other door. The bathroom had an odor that would persist even with the fan going. I think it was a moldy smell?
Decent OnsenNearby Truffle bread store(recommended)
Quite a distance away from train station, recommended to take a cab (~1100yen)
Clean and the staff is extremely helpful.
The curtains are not black out curtains so it can be very bright when the sun rises.
Size of room and the full kitchen impressed me
There is no charging socket on the headboard The door is difficult to keep it open bcoz you have to take off your shoes before stepping inOther than that the room is perfectly fine
The location was good, close to services and nice walks from the hotel. The room was really big and comfortable.Smoothies and tea time available in restaurant after 4:00 pm.
Very cold in the restaurant, big draft coming in from the front reception doors.
Great amount of space in the rooms, we stayed for 4 nights in a twin room and had a fairly modern room with lots of space. Room had a separate desk and long lounge area. Was nice and warm during winter and good bathroom facilities. Public baths were good, two large indoor baths and three outdoor per gender - one bath was closed in both women's and men's during our stay (but no issue, lots of baths to spare). Facilities are a little dated as its a slightly older hotel but staff were really helpful and we enjoyed our stay!
Hotel was close enough to the station to walk, nice room but a felt a little old. We went to the restaurant for dinner and it was a nice experience, quite private and nice food/wine
Love the space of the room and the little kitchen to heat up simple food and make warm drinks. There is a Mcdonald, bakery and a big supermarket a short walk away. Osen facilities and lounge wear provided. Yayy!Free car park. Best to rent a car to explore Kaurizawa sights.
Only a single lift to serve all guests for all floors. Very busy and need to wait awhile to get on it. At the lobby to reach the lift, you need to carry the luggage a short flight of steps.Should provide dishwashing detergent.
Room was spacious, almost felt like a mini apartment. Kitchen isn't equipped with any cooking equipment or cutlery but at least had a microwave. There is a McDonald's and a Delicia supermarket within 5 min walk, which at least solved our dinner problem. The food court at the Prince Outlet Mall was closed by 7:30pm and the restaurants were on the pricy side so having a supermarket nearby was great. If you don't drive, a cab ride from the train station would cost about 700 Yen. Breakfast was good with a variety of good quality Japanese and Western food, including some Karuizawa specialty (dumplings and roasted beef).Beds were comfortable. Even though my children had sofa beds, the sofa beds had been set up and they were as big and comfortable as full size bed. The hotel restaurant had free drinks during tea time and a live band performed during weekend night, which was a nice touch. Staff were helpful with booking cabs and offering to take photos for us. We appreciated the warm hospitality.
Lack of kitchen equipment, could have provided at least the basic cutlery like tea spoons or forks, given that the kitchenette was quite big. However, the hotel did provide us with disposable chopsticks upon request.
For a family of four, we had a big room that could accommodate 4 big beds and yet there was still lots of space - A living room with sofa and TV, and a kitchenette. There was a also a balcony that my boys enjoyed going out to enjoy the wintry weather. The room was clean and provided the usual basic amenities one expects of a good Japanese hotel. The hotel had a public bath in the basement which we didn't use and provided complimentary drinks in the afternoon at its cafe/restaurant (coffee, tea, juices). The building is situated further from where the crowd is (that would be train station/ Prince hotel area) thus quiet surrounding was much appreciated. There is a MacDonalds and a bakery just across the main road as well, just for those moments when one needs something else other than the wonderful Japanese food. Also, there is Lawsons and Family Mart 7 mins walk away (just between station and hotel).
The hotel is situated a bit of distance from the station. It's about 10 to 12 min walk which is not significant to my family. We did drag our luggage to and fro but flat roads along the way and you can see couple of nice houses. Not a complaint or something I didn't like but just a note for those elderly and with little ones.
It's an old hotel but still well-maintained. Staff is friendly and very helpful.Strongly recommend , will come back again.
Receptionist and most of the staff are very helpful and polite.
Too many steps are very difficult for elderly guests.
The size of the room is spacious and clean.
A bit far from the station
Friendly staff. Excellent food.Great place to visit Karuizawa from on foot or using the bus.

Fabulous buffet breakfast with traditional Japanese and Western options. The cello and piano player in the evening dining room was very skilled and his selection most soothing.Outside bath (rotenburo) eased away all exhaustion from a day of shopping and playing golf in Karuizawa!Amazing value for money.
Big room, partitions create some privacy between different sleeping areasWalkable to Kumoba ike within 20minsWalkable to Karuizawa Chocolate factory within 20minsMcdonalds right across the road
Distance from nearest train station must be covered by foot or recommended to take cab if carrying luggage
