    Pros +

    • Love the room to ski concerns. Very convenient! Shuttles were a a plus. We really enjoyed our stay. Restaurant for breakfast was great. Will come back with the whole family next time.
    • The ski lifts were right outside the hotel and shopping was great.
    • There is free hotel bus to the outlet and station. There are hotel restaurant and bar.

    Cons -

    • The stores and restaurants al close by 7pm so we didn’t get dinner the first night since we didn’t know it would close so early. The breakfast at the hotel was ridiculously expensive and basically had salad bar and their hot food was served cold.
    • Too small room.
    • There was construction going on nearby that detracted from the serenity. It was not constant and unbearable, but still, not the complete quiet I was hoping for on my city escape.

Great location surrounded by nature, very conveniently located within 10 minutes walking distance of Karuizawa train station and a shopping mall with major international brands. I stayed in the Forest room, it had a lovely view of the mountains and trees. There are also shuttle buses from the hotel to the train station every 30 minutes or so. The onsen was an added bonus.

There was construction going on nearby that detracted from the serenity. It was not constant and unbearable, but still, not the complete quiet I was hoping for on my city escape.

Reception at check in was great, staff explained the facilities well.

Insufficient lighting from reception to cottage if walking

Staying at the Karuizawa Prince Hotel was a truly relaxing experience. The hotel is nestled in a beautiful forest setting, which gave us a sense of peace and tranquility throughout our stay. The room was very clean and comfortable, and we felt completely at ease. The food at the restaurant was absolutely delicious, and the staff were warm and friendly, making us feel genuinely welcomed. I would definitely love to come back again if I have the chance.

Location right by the slopes, private ski equipment area for hotel guests, rental shop was only a 30m walk away too. Convent shuttle bus to get to and from the outlet mall, but its also very walkable/close by!

Slightly confusing instructions on how to get to the hotel initially, but once you got the hang of it it made sense.

This hotel was great! It was within walking distance of the train station, even closer to the shopping center and plenty of restaurants. The view looking out onto the ski slope was wonderful. My favorite thing, however, was the onsen. The indoor and outdoor pools at the onsen were worth the price of the hotel.

Coffee is a necessity. If you drink black coffee, you are all set at this hotel. There is black coffee in the room, as well as in the gorgeous lodge/lobby area downstairs. The coffee downstairs is from a machine, like at a convenience store, but the only choice is black coffee. They didn't even have Blendy Sticks. I'll definitely bring my own next time. Starbucks is nearby, but it doesn't open until 9:00.

The room was spacious and very comfortable. The bathroom and onsen were lovely too.

It was supposed to be ski in and out but the hotel rental for snow gear rental is 10min walk away that we can't do the ski in and out.. ironic..

The East Cottages is like a little cabin. It is not fancy by any means but very cozy, comfortable and clean. Proximity to the ski lifts was fantastic. It was great that there is a shuttle service provided from the cabin to different locations within the property.

The shower/bathroom set up is a little weird because it is right at the front door, but it was fine.

Convenience, close to outlet and Snowboard training place.

Facility very old. Functionable, but some place in the room got high humidity. Bed frame easier to get noise.

I was glad that we only stayed for 2 nights only for this visit.

For the price of the hotel rooms, I expect the hotel services & amenities to be of at least a 4-star hotel rating. Eg: how can hotel especially one that sits in a ski location operate without full fledged room service, room furniture were so worn out & even the chair seat was sunken in. It was a disappointment indeed, worst of all the Karuizawa hotels I stayed in.

    9YingbkkPosted on: 2-17-2025

location next to ski slope. bus circulated provided so we can go eat at Shopping plaza near by everyday. very convenient. there's outlet shopping nearby for shoppers/non-skiers. Ritmo ski school is nice. Our kids had fun.

the ski resort is small. suitable for beginner, kids. for skiers who want to explore many trails, you should find other resorts.

    8KimberlyPosted on: 1-23-2025

The location of this hotel was great as it's right by the start of the ski slopes and rental shops! It's also linked to the premium outlet mall which is less than 5 mins walk. Very convenient! The Prince property is made up of multiple hotels, and we were lucky to book this hotel as it tied in with our skiing plans. Onsen was great, and the room was spacious for 2 large luggage to be opened at the same time.

There is an onsen property tax to be paid onsite, which i wasn't aware of. Breakfast service was slightly slow but that's because we were a big group of 18 pax.

Great location on the mountain so my family could ski in and ski out. The resort so it is expensive because its 20m from the chair lift. we stayed for 3 nights but it was early in December so snow wasn't great. We saved money by going to local food court, wow the food in the resort was expensive.

Cost of food in the restaurants.

Bad experience at Karuizawa Prince hotel East by Ms Zhang

In the first place we were not informed there's a shuttle from train station to take us to the Prince hotel East, we walked n search n got loss in Prince plaza, after a, long time walking aimlessly than we finally found the hotel, I urge the hotel management must make it a point to ensure all guests are aware of the shuttle service from train statuon to hotel. After we found the reception, the Chinese front desk by the name Ms Zhang was not friendly at all, her attitude was very bad, took too unnecessarily long to explain procedures even though she knew we were tired n hungry after walking a long distance to find the hotel, despite that, she forgot to inform us we can make use of the hotel van every each time we go up n down from our cottage 583, all we heard from her was to call #62 when we check out, a van will come to collect our luggage, the most important message she totally missed, she also didn't inform us our luggage can be sent to the train station front desk, all these we have to find out ourselves. About finding out ourselves, I met Ms Zhang on the day of check in when I went back to the room to collect my passport, she went to pick up a guest next to my cottage, I told her my cottage is too high up, very inconvenient, then she told me I can call for pick up,i swear I did not hear her telling us during check in, she insisted she did but my family also did not hear it, I told her n the guest to wait for 10 seconds while I go inside my cottage to retrieve my passport, she, was very unwilling to wait for me and showed a very bad attitude,i insisted that she must wait cos I was already very tired, she grudgingly waited but continued to argue with me in the van. I thought I choosed Karuizawa Prince hotel for the Japanese service standard n hospitality but instead what I got was the kind of service standard so typical of what I get in China, all thanks to Ms Zhang, she single handedly ruined my impression of Prince hotel n our stay.

Nice lounge, onsen, view of ski, walking distance to ski slope, breakfast was good

Lights from the ski slope shone into our room very early
