    • We absolutely loved our stay here! The staff was lovely and attentive, the rooms were beautiful and comfortable, and the services such as breakfast in the room and the onsen were excellent! Dinner in the restaurant was worth every penny, truly it was so delicious. We would 100% recommend this accommodation!
    • We had a lovely stay at Traumerei, beautifully nestled in the heart of Hakuba. The magical snowy surroundings created a truly memorable experience. We especially enjoyed the daily French breakfasts and the relaxing onsen which were perfect after a day in the snow. The availability of laundry facilities and the attentive, helpful service made our stay very comfortable. Overall, everything met our expectations, and we would highly recommend Traumerei to anyone visiting Hakuba
    • Though is old facility but very clean with nice private onsen(need to pre-book for a 50 minute session)The food is also great!

    Cons -

    • The wifi could have been stronger
    • - Breakfast was merely bread, juices and coffee.- The room could get really cold at night during winter.
    • Lobby area could be cosier- maybe put rugs down

    - Lovely private onsen.- Comfortable room.- Beautifully decorated place.- Staff was helpful.- Location was good but you might need a car to get around.- Shuttle buses right in front of the hotel for skiiers.

    - Breakfast was merely bread, juices and coffee.- The room could get really cold at night during winter.

The service from the staff is exceptional. They don’t speak fluent English but they will do everything they can to accommodate you. I can see snowfields from my room, making breakfast extra special with a relaxing view. They have drying room for skis that are accessible from the side of the hotel. The cherry on top was access to onsen - the best way to relax after a long day of skiing. There are shuttle busses that will take you directly to Iwatake, Happo, and Hakuba47/Goryu as well.

The bed can be softer but I slept through the night just fine during my stays!

    7CassandraPosted on: 2-18-2025

Friendly and helpful staff, included time in onsen, amenities, immediate access to shuttle bus for snowboarding

No access to microwave for food

Unforgettable Stay in Hakuba! From the moment we arrived, the service was absolutely fantastic. Every staff member went above and beyond to ensure our stay was seamless and enjoyable. The daily morning breakfasts delivered to our room were truly a treat—delicious, beautifully presented, and the perfect way to start each day before heading out to explore Hakuba. Without a doubt, this is the best spot to stay in Hakuba. The room was fantastic. I stay at about 20 hotels every year around the world and this is the first hotel I’ve stopped to write a review since the service was so fantastic. We stayed here for 4 days skiing around the local area. I would 100% recommend this place to family and friends!

    Everything really was great.

Good location that the shuttle bus is front of the hotelGood private onsen, so lovely for customer after intense ski!Spacial room!

    7AliciaPosted on: 2-1-2025

Ski resorts shuttle bus stop is right outside the hotel.

It is a beautiful classic building with nice surroundings but it is a very old property. Carpet is faded and only provides one small flat feather pillow. Breakfast is expensive ¥2,000 with croissants ? milk, and coffee served in the room. Private Onsen at basement is creepy.

    8LeannePosted on: 1-30-2025

Great location bus stop right outside. . Great onsen. Very helpful staff.

Bathroom- damp smell and water leak. 730 breakfast tight for 8am bus. It would be great to have 7 or 715 breakfast option.

Beautiful French themed chateau, looked like a fairytale on the outside. Conveniently located bus stop that takes you to all the major Hakuba resorts for snow activities. Biiiig bathroom and two lovely private onsens in the basement you can book for an hour each evening with the front desk. Staff were attentive and helpful with deliveries of our snow gear. There’s a heated equipment room in the basement also with quick access to the outside for getting ready in the morning. Pricey French restaurant on premises with a bar and breakfast service options that we did not partake in. Parking out front of the hotel.

Byzantine maze path of getting to the rooms by going up stairs then down again. Beds were super hard compared to other firm beds I’ve slept in Japan and the sheets were very rough texture. Also the WiFi was unfortunately terribly inconsistent the entire time we were there. Even if you had a strong signal, the quality of the connection was barely usable to do basic web browsing or text. Don’t count on it for video calls. Inconvenient to get to and from the Hakuba Bus Terminal without prebooking a taxi or waiting a very long time for the V2 bus you have to walk to in Echoland that’s busy taking skiers/snowboarders to the resorts because they don’t have a ride service.

    7JUSTINPosted on: 1-27-2025

I liked the location of the hotel, it is close to Echoland and the eateries there. There was also a hotel shuttle that you could negotiate to pick-up and drop off at the local bus station, and if you miss the city shuttle to the slopes the staff will take you there (Hakuba Goryu or Happo One). From the exterior, the hotel is also very stately.

The suite was large in square feet but not all that functional. The lounge area has a tv but it is arranged in a funky manner that doesn't inspire relaxation and the only seating present are upright chairs. The mattresses were very hard and lumpy in some spots, I had to fold the comforters in half to use as a soft pallet to find comfort while sleeping. The bathroom is generally fine, but does hold on to moisture and the presence of mold in corners and on the ceiling was evident. The breakfast is very basic and does not change. You have either coffee or tea, milk, 2 pieces of bread, a pastry, and a very small portion of fruit. I was hungry after each breakfast. Finally, the staff was very nice and accommodating but there was a language barrier with very limited English being spoken. It wasn't make or break, but just something to be aware of before you get ready to ask for recommendations or answers relating to your stay.

It may have a old cottage rustic charm but it gave very bad vibes once the night set. The room was eerie and I didn’t feel safe. I constantly felt like somebody/something was watching us and couldn’t sleep the whole night. After one night we had no choice but to check out. The whole place seemed to be run solely by one woman because that’s all we saw. When I tried explaining to this lady, in whatever japanese I could muster, what we went through, it was impossible to do so. All she did was smile in a non-apologetic way and kept saying “yes yes yes” in Japanese. We were simply too spooked out to stay longer or to negotiate. At the end of the day, we just had to leave even without any assurance for a refund. We effectively paid 4 nights stay even though we only stayed for a night. It almost seems like the proprietors are using the usual Japanese politeness charm to take advantage of guests in such circumstances and to get gain an unfair enrichment. 4 nights room prices on a peak season for offering just 1 night’s stay. We tried getting booking.com to help us contact the hotel to try to negotiate but the platform was useless. All it was simply tell us that they MESSAGED the hotel and got no reply. Not even a call was placed. That’s of no help. But even if message is a usual feasible way, I’m not surprised that the hotel didn’t respond. We tried texting on several occasions after check in but they never responded. I’m really not sure if the hotel is manned by humans or something else. Anybody with a heart would have sought to listen to our woes and tried to resolve our issue. Not this hotel, not booking.com - you paid and we say no refunds then too bad. We don’t care if you had safety concerns or if you are guests, you are just money making suckers to us.

See comment. It was cold and creepy. Clearly run by unfeeling animals.

Breakfast was great, staff were courteous, and private onsen was fantastic. Shuttle car was provided, just had to call the hotel when arrived at the station.

No lift so luggage had to be carried up the stair to the first floor. Most of the surrounding restaurants required reservation but there was a 7-Eleven and a few food trucks in the nearby area.

Breakfast in the room was fantastic. The hotel was beautiful, amazing aesthetic and very comfortable. The staff were super friendly and very helpful. Private onsen was incredible after long days on the slopes.

The only very small complaint I had is that the pillows were quite thin and a bit too soft. Otherwise, Traumerei is amazing and I would recommend.

    * The host was extremely helpful* They, probably, have the best onsen

    * slow WiFi* unbelievably overpriced dinner* no outlet sockets near the bed* poor breakfast* no proper ventilation (apart from windows of course), CO2 levels were high (around 2000)* tiny bathroom

Old hotel, good service and good food, but waaaay too expensive for what it offers.

Everything about the stay was amazing! The hotel is super cozy with a traditional feel. The staff were AMAZING and made the whole holiday. They helped us with everything from hiring snow gear, transport and restaurant recommendations. They even gave us a ride into town a few times!!!

    Nothing, everything was brilliant :)
