    Pros +

    • Had a very home-y feeling. It was cozy and the staff made the experience amazing. Monika, the owner, is incredibly helpful and super friendly. She answered all of our questions and helped plan our trips to the slopes. Snow gear can be stored on the first floor and rentals for certain shops can be left there once you’re done with them. There’s a shuttle that picked us up from Hakuba station, really helpful since we weren’t able to find a cab late at night.
    • Excellent hosting from Monica & Keita. They were very accommodating & offerred assistance whenever possible.
    • Amazing staff! Great Onsen

    Cons -

    • Improvement suggestion1) make it possible to push twin beds together for couples & make space for bigger luggage2) make English live news (international) & some movies available3) pillows were too flat
    • Very firm beds
    • Rooms can be tight so we booked a 3 bed for two guys and it was perfect; Add more spirits/mixers to enable the bartender to offer more common cocktails. If you go to see the snow monkeys and museum from Hakuba plan for a whole day of travelling to and from the park if you don't have a car.

Keita and his wife are great hosts and hoteliers. We enjoyed the facility, location, and staff of Hotel Yamano. I would recommend this hotel to any family that is looking to ski Happo One and the Hakuba Valley.

Likes: Great breakfast buffet each morning and the Jura (bean to cup coffee) was da bomb; Location to Happo One (could walk or the hotel will gladly shuttle you there) plus Hakuba 47 and Goryu shuttle bus stops right in front of the hotel; Friendly and helpful owners (husband and wife) plus staff always ready to help and offer helpful suggestions; Ordered the hotel's custom hotpot in the morning for dinner later that night which was excellent and very delicious "oiishi"! The heated ski room is helpful as you can stash all your gear there each day and gear-up in the mornings to give you more space in your room. Bartender Jack was great and helpful to suggest local foodie spots and makes great craft cocktails nightly. On site Onsen and spa wonderful and very convenient after a day on the mountain.

Rooms can be tight so we booked a 3 bed for two guys and it was perfect; Add more spirits/mixers to enable the bartender to offer more common cocktails. If you go to see the snow monkeys and museum from Hakuba plan for a whole day of travelling to and from the park if you don't have a car.

Absolutely Amazing Stay – Feels Like Home!If you’re looking for the best home away from home accommodation in Hakuba with five-star hospitality, this is the place to stay! From the moment we arrived, Monica and Keita went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. They are the most genuine, caring hosts who truly love what they do, and it shows in every little detail.Nothing was ever too much trouble—whether it was early morning drop-offs, late-night pick-ups, or just helping us plan our days on the slopes. Their kindness and hospitality made our trip unforgettable. And the breakfast? Simply the best! Fresh, delicious, and the perfect start to a day in the mountains. The entire staff are just as wonderful—friendly, helpful, and always ready with a smile. This place has such a warm and welcoming atmosphere, it felt like a home away from home. If you’re visiting Hakuba, do yourself a favor and stay here. We can’t wait to come back!

Great onsen within the hotel and very friendly and helpful staff. Boot room was nice and spacious for ski gear

    10KaiyuPosted on: 2-26-2025

Exceptional facilities, big room, in-suite bathroom. Onsen is just amazing. Hotel manager and his wife’s help and local recommendations were really helpful.

15 minute walk away from the nearest restaurant, but a close walk to Nakiyama Slope and lift makes up for that. Fair trade off I would say. I’m here to ski, and the food in hotel’s restaurant is top-notch anyway.

We really enjoyed our stay. We were skiing and the ski room was super... well heated and organized ..Good food and coffee.. great hours and easy, The rooms were nice with great mountain views

We booked late (only a few days prior to our stay),we were happy to get a room anywhere in Haukaba but we thought it was expensive

    10NadenePosted on: 2-20-2025

Very homely feel to the hotel. The location was perfect, just a small walk to the slopes. The staff were so helpful and friendly.

    10DanielPosted on: 2-17-2025

This place is excellent. Super close to the base of Happo one, the staff go above and beyond with a shuttle service to help get you around. The breakfast in the morning is great, private onsen and sauna are super nice, and the facilities are perfect. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Brilliant hotel with great staff and convenient amenities. Breakfast is exactly what you need before a day on the slopes. Free shuttle from hotel door to Hakuba 47 and Goryu.

    A bit more room space

    9LynseyPosted on: 2-3-2025

The view, the wonderful duvet covers, the onsen, the helpful staff and the shuttle bus, great breakfast and loved the free massage chairs and ice candy !!

The toilet in room could use a lid as it’s quite compact and easy to drop things into. Loved everything else

    9JarradPosted on: 2-3-2025

Great facilities, spacious rooms and the staff were so friendly and accomodating. Massage chair, onsen and sauna were a much needed combo post days on the slopes.

The beds were a tough sleep

The Hakuba Yamano hotel and staff were awesome! The breakfast was delicious and very filling before a day on the slopes. I tore my ACL while skiing and was on crutches for half of our stay; the staff could not have been more kind and accommodating for my situation. They picked us up and dropped us off wherever we wanted to go and they were super helpful for booking reservations at restaurants around town. The hotel is in a great location being a few minute walk from the ski lift and has great access to tons of great restaurants and cute shops in the town. I would definitely recommend staying here!

Very clean and cosy hotel, with traditional Japanese experience. Delicious breakfast buffet and great dinner restaurant. Very friendly and helpful staff, English speakers, who provided everything for us, including rent of ski equipment and ski lessons in the most convenient way. There are also a ski equipment room, massage chairs and even an onsen inside the hotel! It was a great family experience for us!

    9ShanePosted on: 1-28-2025

Breakfast, Dinner, Onsen, Bar all onsite. Hotel Shuttlebus provided. Close to slopes. Large rooms and beds. Unbelievable for the price.

    10LevonPosted on: 1-28-2025

The breakfast items were great, and the staff was attentive. The onsite onsen was perfect after a day of snowboarding. The hotel also provided shuttle service to the bus stop and is located near the bus stop for all the resorts in Hakuba. The hotel staff also helped scheduled a pickup for our snowboards as well.

The bathroom did have a distinct odor. Most likely from the cleaning solution used.
