Pros +
- Hotel employee was very good
- It was fantastic. Every member of the staff was very nice, accommodating, helpful and professional. Our room was spacious, ryokan-style with private bath and modern comforts. The private onsen was very relaxing. The dinner was delicious and great value.
- Friendly staff, delicious breakfast that was carefully prepared, experiencing Japanese culture, short walk from bus/train station
Cons -
- The hot spring smell wasn't like a normal hot spring containing sulfur. This one smell was chlorine like a swimming pool.
- The only thing is that the cleaning staff repeatedly ignored the "do not disturb" sign (which is a different colour than the "make up room" sign) and entered the room anyway. But this is minor, especially given what a great experience we had overall.
- The location is a little bit isolated

I love this hotel, the best is the hotel room, bedding and onsen, they are 5star level although the hotel is rated as 4 star. I am quite satisfied with their breakfast, over than my expectation, valve for money.
The location is a little bit isolated
Very close to the train station and super friendly and accommodating staff. Dinner is a must. The food was absolutely amazing. The onsen was fabulous too.
Room was spacious and comfortable, private terrace bath wonderful. Food was excellent, both dinner and breakfast. Staff was friendly and helpful. Views from hotel were splendid.
Not a complaint, but public bath outdoor area felt a bit rundown/had seen better days
Wonderful stay! Relaxing onsen with great mountain view. Free sake bar. Accommodated a full delicious gluten free breakfast. Even shipped my coat that I forgot in the hotel!
Close to the train station. Provided pick up from the station which was quite welcome on a cold, snowy night. Suite was very roomy and included a massage chair. Private indoor outdoor onsen in room was nice. Service was very gracious. Included dinner and breakfast were fine.
Some parts of the room and facility are showing some age, but everything still functional.
Breakfast and Dinners were great with rotating menus (across our three nights there). The onsens were excellent and quite enjoyable.On-site parking was invaluable given we had a lot of luggage and you will need a car to get around to the various sites etc
Our room (the family room at the end of the corridor) was very, very cold the first night; the hotel provided two space heaters, which helped on our subsequent nights. There is only one lift serving the entire hotel (for guests), which, most of the time, is fine (and better than no lifts!).
Meals were amazing and the location was in close proximity to tourist attractions and restaurants. The best was the sake bar that opened at night for the adults to take a well deserved break. The onsen area even had bath tubs outdoor which were lukewarm that the kids could enjoy.
Everything was lovely.
The property is exceptionally well maintained. We enjoyed the traditional decor, the welcome drink, the classy adults-only sake bar, the very spacious, scenic and clean onsen, and the gourmet breakfast. We enjoyed slipping into the spa culture in our perfectly-pressed yukata robes around the hotel. The thoughtful gift shop and in room bathroom products-everything was thought of. We loved all of it!
The property was so close to the Yudanaka Station and the hotel was amazing. We had a great experience and we did one night of the dinner and the breakfast. The other night that we didn’t eat at the hotel we ate at a izakaya restaurant that was so close to the hotel. THE ONSEN WAS AMAZING!!!! So good. We did it everyday.
Close to Jigokudani. Amazing private onsen. Amazing traditional Japanese breakfast. Strongly recommended
Close to snow monkey Good hot springs bathBeautiful breakfast
Few restraint choice
Loved breakfast and the onsen
The beds were a bit hard
Really cool Japanese-style rooms, option of a private bath (though a bit pricey for families who have opposite gender single parents), and amazing food. The kids meal was huge, even for an older kid (8 years old).
A unique hotel situated near the monkey park and shibu onsen. The staff is very gracious and welcoming, and the high point of the stay is the large, bright room with a gorgeous view along with semi private dining. The food is well done and worthwhile, and I would stay again.
Smallish bathroom box style but it was clean and provided what it was meant to.
The best Ryokan we ever stayed! Absolutely amazing experience and the location is easily accessible by local train, bus station and by car.
The associates are outstanding and both dinner and breakfast were excellent. The place was very quiet
The on sen was mild and needs renovation
The hotel was fantastic. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. The room was comfortable and the traditional Japanese breakfast was amazing. They also provided a huge kids breakfast for our 3 year old. The public bath was lovely and the view from the outdoor tub was incredible.
