Candeo Hotels Nankai Wakayama

Modern facilities, clean, location. Room toilet and shower were fairly western and not claustrophobia-causing. The breakfast buffet was the best I’ve had in Japan (I’m vegetarian, so having more than 1-2 items to eat was a plus.

Like most Japanese Hotel rooms, the rooms seemed small.

The location - it’s so close to train & bus station. Plus there’s a great supermarket drugstore and restaurants nearby.

The cleaning crew need more supervision. When they are cleaning the hallway has an unpleasant smell probably from the cleaning rugs they use.

This hotel was a great place to stay at after my Kansai flight and before I went further south to explore the Wakayama area. The bed was so comfortable, and I absolutely loved the onsen. There’s both an indoor and outdoor bath. The breakfast is buffet style and a great mix of Japanese, Asian, and Western options. Such a relaxing stay and great way to recuperate from the flight to recharge for my trip!!

Rooms are outdated, but clean.Breakfast was a catastrophe, the options were limited and what was supposed to be hot was lukewarm, which is unacceptable in a buffet.No cold cuts/cheeses or varied breads, just basic bread.

Great location, only steps away from the Wakayamashi Station so it made it easy to return to from a days travelling by train. Room was a good size and comfortable, I especially liked the built in couch / lounging area. Staff was always polite and very helpful, and spoke English to a very well and able to explain more complex topics easily. Breakfast was very good and the view from the restaurant overlooks the city and the station. There is a food court in the adjacent building that offered several options for dinner as well as a specialty market too. The rooftop public bath was also a relaxing end-of-day treat, too.

Although the food was good for the breakfast buffet, most of the dishes were the same each day, with only some slight variations: it's not that bad of an issue, but it is worth mentioning if you're staying more than a few days. Although well maintained, I think the hallways to rooms could do with some new carpeting. However, nothing said here wouldn't stop me from coming back again to this hotel if I'm ever in the Wakayamashi area.

The location is right in front of the Wakayama station. The access is great from Kansai international airport. After a long flight from Europe, this hotel is easy to access to rest to recover from a jetlag. Their spa with sauna is also very nice for relaxing.

The hotel's views are stunning, with a vast riverbank. The location is very convenient, right next to the high-speed rail station, where there's a convenience store and supermarket. There's a shaved ice shop on the second floor of the supermarket that I highly recommend; the matcha shaved ice is delicious. ? The public open-air bath was also our favorite. I'll definitely stay here again next time I go to Wakayama. Thanks!

Lovely rooms, great location

It would be nice if the offered coffee without having to buy the full breakfast, but there is a coffee shop on the ground floor.

My second stay at Candeo Wakayama!I love the comfortable window seat as a place to look out the window and dream. Rockstar Farms grocery is also right in the station and had great takeout delicious food. The rooftop bath is wonderful. The location is perfect for easy access to Kansai airport or the Shikoku ferry.

Great location for a quick stop over to rest, after a long flight to reach OSAKA, before we begin our travel in Wakayama. Simple and clean rooms, we got a Queen and a Twin. Twin has little more space vs the Queen in term of room size. No connecting rooms, so the hotel arrange for the 2 rooms to be closed to each other on the same floor (Thanks). Good breakfast in the morning before we start our day. Hotel is location next to the train station and on top of the city public library. Also offer good choice of good in level 2 connected to the public library. Great Onsen with a cool outdoor city view when you are in the hot Onsen enjoying the moon.

No big issues here. Just the access to reach the check-in lobby. There is no lobby or drive way for this hotel at ground level. You need to park at the public parking space for this building (House the Hotel, Library, Restaurants) and walk over the link bridge at level 2 or 3 to get the a lift that brings you to the lobby at level 11. Instructions was not given as we did this via Bookings, these are available if you contact the hotel and look at their official website regarding access.

The design of the hotels from bed linen to curtains and the room design aesthetic was beautiful, sleek and modern, with an overall art deco feel to the rooms. The onsen and sky lounge area on the top floor was beautiful and lotions and shampoos from the hotel were gorgeous. The outdoor pool overlooking the city, the river and the bridges and railway tracks was a great vista to overlook while outdoor bathing. The place was super clean and the staff were always friendly and very helpful. A very relaxing stay and the hotel is located over the municipal Wakayama library and the railway station which is a fantastic connection to Kansai Airport. A lovely stay was had by all in the Kandeo Hotel in Wakayama.

Great location, view and Onsen

Not the best location for night life without having to travel a little but a wonderful hotel with it's Onsen on the top floor with great views.

Location being connected to the train station was very convenient. The onsens were lovely with an amazing view. Staff were friendly. Room was clean and comfortable albeit a little smaller than I expected from the pictures.

The parking is not on-site and can be hard to find without assistance from the hotel staff, but it’s a level walk to the hotel. The restaurant offers wide, pleasant views, and the room is comfortable and clean.
