Kobe City Gardens Hotel (Formally Hotel Kobe Shishuen)

Good: it’s very close to the stationNot good: in the first room I slept in, the mattress was so worn and old that I felt the springs in my back. So I moved to the other side, which was so hard that I woke up several times during the night and had pain in my lower back upon getting up. When I went to the reception to request a different room with above explanation, I was told “all beds are the same”, and the only option was a bigger room which I had to pay 2200 yen extra for. I understand that an upgrade requires more money, but the first room was not worth what I’d paid and I feel I received insufficient compassion from the staff. Furthermore, the fridge was so strong that when I took out my food the next morning everything was frozen solid (even though I’d put the strength of the fridge on 2 out of 7) and I had to throw everything away. Although I slept better in the second room (even though the mattress was still hard), this was not the experience I had hoped it would be.

The corridor was stinky. The room had old facilities. Aircon has not been cleaned for a very long time. The bathroom floor is not clean.

Very convenient location near the station. The room was quite clean, with excellent facilities.Would highly recommend for business travellers.

The location was great. It's right near the JR Station and only 15 mins walking distance from the heart of the city. The staff was very friendly and helpful. For its price, I have nothing to complain about.

The furniture and interior design were absolutely outdated. This was kind of expected for the price. However, it didn't cause any inconvenience at all.

Price was affordable. Bed and pillows were comfortable. Most of facilities were in good condition.

Room was quite old. There was no safety box in a room. Also, they have only an elevator and it got some weird smell.

The room was surprisingly warm and I didn't need to turn on the heat at night. For me, the temperature was just nice, and I liked that.

The room is slightly old; it could use some repainting or renovation.

The location is very good. The nearest station is just 5 mins walk and there are plenty of restaurants around. The front desk could communicate in English.

I feel giving a microwave in the room would have been of much help.

I personally like this hotel for its slightly ild fashion style. We had a simple, short stay, and the room was comfortable. It was easy to find the parking and the staff members have been very helpful.

Great Location. It’s near Kobe station and 10-15mins walk to the harbor. The room is clean and the staffs are friendly.
