Kagoshima Sun Royal Hotel

It's close to the ferry terminal (about a 5min drive), they have a convenience store inside the hotel and across the street and they have a nice udon noodle shop across the street. They also have luggage storage if you arrive before check in times and you can store your luggage after you check out if you're waiting on the ferry.

I rode a motorcycle there and used the paid parking on site (it's a reasonable rate), but ran into an issue when leaving with the ticket reader. The ticket reader would not read my ticket so I had to pull off the side and allow the cars behind me to go as I called for help (press the "HELP" button on the machine and someone from the hotel will come outside to meet you). This was a bit time consuming and a little embarrassing because the locals in the cars behind me we're probably thinking, "Stupid foreigner can't even use a ticket reader correctly." HOWEVER, the hotel staff made it right and let me leave without paying to say "sorry about that."

Awesome view of Sakurajima from a 'volcano view' room. I thought the car parking was down the road, but is on site which was good.

The location and the hot bath at the top floor are amazing.

It is far from the main city center.

The staff was gracious. The hotel has an old world sophistication and air...I loved the breakfast which had variety; both Japanese and Western style foods were offered and so many choices of each. You left breakfast satisfied! I also loved the onsen with the beautiful view of Sakurajima. It was a heavenly experience luxuriating in the hot water while eyeing the allure of the Island.

The hotel was a distance from train station. Although a shuttle was provided, it only ran at certain times. Also, if you have large luggage, know that you'll be lifting them on and off the bus with steep steps.

Excellent breakfast buffet with Japanese and Western choices.Convenient shuttle takes you to train station and main shopping area.Hot spring on 13th floor and half the rooms have great view of Sakurajima.

Rooms are dated but clean.

-Convenient paid parking 1000 yen per day, you can take your car out as often as you wish. -While rooms are not modern, they are big, clean and spacious. Ours had an excellent view of Sakurajima.-Staffs speak English and are extremely helpful - they helped us with all our luggages.-Excellent onsen with lovely views of Sakurajima.

The view was amazing!

Location was a bit away from central Kagoshima but the hotel has a courtesy bus. The staff didn’t immediately inform me of this option and seemed to want everyone to stay and eat the hotel.

All was good. The Spa was nice, separate man and woman (which is standard), but on the leaflets a lady and a man were in the same pool, what we hoped for.Braekfeast excellent literally 100 different optionsParking very efficientView magnificient

(extra to be paid no issue)And the doublebed has access only from one side, which is a problem for more elderly....

Good room good service good onsen

The view of Sakurajima from our room was fantastic. The staff were kind and helpful. The free shuttle bus was good because the location wasn’t near a train station or the main part of town. There were restaurants and a grocery very close by and the breakfast at the hotel was very good with a lot of choices. The room was comfortable, clean, and quiet. The spa was lovely and also had a great view. The staff was wonderful on the day we left because they arranged the taxi pick-up for us and gave us a box breakfast in exchange for our pre-paid breakfast which didn’t run early enough for us to have.

While the shuttle bus was convenient, the timing wasn’t always. It ran every hour so you had to plan ahead to catch it. And it didn’t run early so if you have an early flight you have to walk 40 min or take a taxi to the airport limousine bus stop. Also they didn’t have a laundry facility to use.

Internet is poor .

The staff is very helpful, particularly in the Information corner. There is a free transfer to the station and the city center (but it has like 1 bus per hours with a pause around lunch time). Sakurajima view from the window is amazing (even though in our room you have to sit to admire it, I add both photos for sitting and standing view). Some hairs were seen in the bathroom.

Overall, we felt disappointed because probably the photos have raised our expectations too high. The view from our room was nice but as it was the lowest possible level, it was not that amazing as on the photos of the hotel. The Onsen upstairs is a big delusion, very tiny and with the fogged up front window (not really like on the photo here).

Old school goodness. Although hotel facilities are a bit dated, the excellent service from the staff makes the stay a delightfully memorable one. The view of Sakarajima from the room was awesome. We also loved the dinner and breakfast buffet spread.

This hotel not far from Kagoshima Chu station. Just walking distance to seaside can see Sakurashima and also can see from the hotel room view .

Keeping it in goods service

Good location. Nice to see Sakurajima from my room. Had a nice meal at the Sky Phoenix restaurant. Good location for shopping.

Breakfast could be a lot better. Much of the western food was quite bland in taste, especially the omelette.

Very helpful and friendly Staff. Our room was very clean with a great view. We liked the Spa with the view of the volcano Spa. Convenient for shops and outside restaurants.

The Japanese restaurant was cold and soulless! The hotel felt a little "dated" and the room was a bit smaller than expected.
