Richmond Hotel Kagoshima Kinseicho

The rooms were of good size unlike most other similar ratings hotels in bigger cities with rooms that are really small. Staffs were polite and helpful. The coach from Kagoshima Airport practically stops right opposite the hotel. Hotel is within walking distance to Tenmonkan. And, approx 20-25mins walk to the main city.

Practically nothing much that we don't like.

Laundry on 6th floor. Coin friendly. Good sound proof. Good location.

The location is convenient to the ferries to Sakurajima and Yakushima. There are also many nice restaurants that are only a short 10 to 15 minute walk from the hotel. This is the third time I've stayed at a Richmond Hotel and they all have been great. The breakfast is fantastic although a bit expensive.

Good location. Room is clean.

The laundry room is tiny. The machines could not really dry the clothes after washing by its guide. The number of the machine is too small to meet the needs.

The hotel room for 3 people was big and the beds were comfortable. We parked at the hotel for 1000 yen per night. We walked to Tenmonkan, which was nearby. There was also a convenience store across the hotel.

The staffs are very kind and smart. The restaurant they recommended was excellent! The room is bigger than I expected. You can choose if you want to ask them to clean the room and how often. Just in front of the entrance you can find the tram and bus stops.

Around the hotel there are not so many restaurant and they closed earlier. You have to walk a little bit to the city center (Ten mon kan area).

Location, walking distance to ferry and tram in front of door for going to the main train station and to the shopping area. Easy check in. Provided toiletries for self picking, eco room cleaning.

Bed and pillows too hard.

I mistakenly booked a smoking room which had a very strong smell. Unfortunately we weren’t able to move the first night, however the staff were very nice and found us a room to move to the second night.

Typicall Japanese business hotel, everything was clean and great for a short stay. Restaurants and minimarkets around and a good place to discover Kagoshima.

Black mold

The bathroom was full of black mold because the water from the toilet and the bathroom leaked and it wasnt properly sealed. We asked for another room and they gave it to us, but it had the same problem and they had just bleached the visible parts (the smell of bleach lasted for days on top of it) Black mold is quite dangerous for health and we felt sick during all our stay. We were fine again when we left. They need to renovate the bathrooms to fix the problem.

Nice hotel, with nice amenities and central to the port and many restaurants/shopping. Across the street from cable cars that are a 10-15min ride or 25min walk to main Kagoshima train station

(1) The tatami style rooms were amazing, spacious and clean. It had separated toilet and shower area.The shower pressure & hot water was strong & consistent. The furton beds were thick and comfortable. All the furniture & fixtures in the rooms looked new and good. Best of the 3 Kyushu hotels that we stayed during our trip.(2) The room air cond system was strong, working well and quiet. (3) Although hotel guests need to claim some toiletries at the ground floor reception area, the hotel provides a full range of items and in free flow style - not restrictive and no wastage(4) Location - the hotel is right at the beginning of the main cultural & shopping area of Kagoshima city. We walked to all the famous spots and there were plenty of food, shopping available - even till late night (11pm)

(1) It seemed that there was not many parking lot in the hotel garage. We had problem getting a lot for a few times. We needed to park at a nearby car park, then claimed reimbursement from the hotel reception. Not ideal.(2) As our rooms were facing the main street, we could hear traffic noise. The japanese styled windows did not help to block out any road noise or day light at all. Maybe the hotel could add some black out windows/blinds for such rooms.

We spent a week at this hotel, having stayed there 13 years earlier during our honeymoon. While we didn't luck out with a Sakurajima view this time (they must be really rare given the nearby buildings blocking the view), we had a comfortable room for a great value, in a decent size for the price paid. The beds were comfortable and we had just enough room for our medium-sized luggage. We were delighted that the laundry room had 5 newer machines that worked well and didn't cost too much. Best yet, the included breakfast was really great - each day we had a choice of 5 different set meals: Western, Japanese, Chicken Rice, Beef Curry, and (I think) bonito flake rice something, plus a salad buffet. Overall, the location couldn't be beat, and the staff were kind and welcoming. Hot tip: the check-in machines in the lobby doubled as really useful change machines and had other functions.

Minor complaint: the climate control was challenging - it was often too warm, so we'd move it down a degree and it was very quickly too cold.

The location was great, right in the center of Kagoshima. The staff, while hardly speaking English were very nice and helpful. The room was agreeable and price was very attractive

I expected a 20m room to be more spaceous. Something is wrong with design of the room. It felt very small.

It's useful of washing machine.It's same machine of dryer.

The accommodation fee is too expensive.I will refrain from staying in Richmond forever.

I misplaced a neck pillow and the staff found it for me and returned it before I realized I had misplaced it

Great location 12 minutes tram ride from the station. Also, 10 minutes walk from the Sakurajima ferry terminal.Just around the corner for m the Tenkonman covered shopping streets.Friendly, welcoming staff.Booked a larger Japanese style room - lots of space, tatami flooring. Bed mattress in floor & super soft duvet.Had kettle, fridge, TV & toiletries.Bathroom was a wet room style with separate bath & shower.Toilet separate Small buffet at breakfast with choice of 4 different meals types

Breakfast had some buffet choice but mainly it was a tray meal - choice of 4.3 Japanese styles & a western.Would have preferred it all to be buffet (mainly as I don't like to waste food & couldn't eat all that was on the tray) - but it was tasty & filling.

good normal hotel, i think the price is fair. staff was kind at every interaction

not much. maybe some constant noise from ambulance the garage etc. is a very good a bit old style hotel
