Calvinia Hotel

Everything was excellent, the staff, the rooms and the breakfast spread was amazing.

We were very comfortable and enjoyed our nights rest after traveling nearly 1200km

The floor in our romm was not washed and when I walked bare foot in my room my feet were black

We travelled with our dog and had a lovely spacious room overlooking the car park - so had room for her to walk. Very comfortable stay for 1 night. We enjoyed dinner at the restaurant but unfortunately left too early to enjoy breakfast.

Double room advertised with fridge but no fridge in room. Quite uncomfortable as we were staying more than one night and had some things we would've loved to keep cool, other than that, we were satisfied.

Location was great on way to Kgalagadi. Bedrooms bed and shower amazing. Off street secure parking for our car and camper. Food was exceptional very large servings.Will stay over again.

We requested a room at the back where we could plug our extension cord to a power point - the room was very modern, neat and clean, and very comfortable. Being at the back it was also quiet.

Our car was parked in the lot at the back outside our room - the staff mentioned the gate would be closed at night with security on duty but the gate stayed open and people off the street could wander in and access our car as well as our room! We had passers by begging. Also, although our room facilities were excellent, the upstairs conference room leading to the roof top "swimming pool" (knee deep) and the area around the pool were filthy with bottles, cans and cigarette butts lying around. A party had obviously taken place but the area remained sticky and unsightly, and the pool water was dirty. Communal bathrooms also not pleasant.

What a beautiful place in such a small town, with a good kitchen. The room was big, yes big, with a fantastic big and very comfortable bed, I did sleep like a prince. The hotel has a good nice by locals frequented bar were we a lot of fun. The boss of the hotel allowed my wife even a midnight swim in the wonderful pool.Good breakfast in the morning made our day.

Get more comfortable beds and better TV

Great hotel, friendly and helpful senior staff. Unfortunately the same cannot by said of the restaurant or kitchen staff. The room was great, spacious, clean, modern.

Friendly staff , always willing to help Neat rooms and aircon in the summer is a big plus !

Perhaps umbrellas or a shade covering over the pool in summer - it’s difficult to swim in the sun because of how hot and burning it is

Very comfortable room, clean and equipped with all the basics. I needed to keep some medication cool and the staff organised for a bar fridge to be brought to our room. Friendly staff. The pool was quite disappointing. It is tiny and very shallow. Certainly not for swimming! Unfortunately, we tried to eat at the hotel and first, second and even third food and drink choices were not available. We eventually went somewhere else for dinner. Breakfast was also not quite what the website promised.

The breakfast was great. A good English breakfast.

We arrived very tired from a long motorcycle ride. After supper we would have liked to have rested and get some sleep. Unfortunately our room was just outside the bar with lots of loud music and customers shouting and being rowdy. I only managed to fall asleep sometime after midnight.

It was average.

At breakfast the staff was not helpful. Everything was self serve. Coffee was not not served.

unfortunately, my experience was far from pleasant. The most glaring issue was the cleanliness—or lack thereof. The bed linen in my room was visibly dirty, with stains that made me question if it had been changed at all. It was unhygienic and extremely off-putting.To make matters worse, the room reeked of cigarette smoke despite being advertised as non-smoking. The odor was overwhelming and made it difficult to relax or get a good night’s sleep. It was clear that proper cleaning and ventilation were not a priority.While the staff were polite, these fundamental issues overshadowed any positives about the service or amenities. I expected a much higher standard of cleanliness and comfort for the price.I would not recommend staying here until management addresses these serious hygiene concerns. Travelers deserve better.

Reception and restuarant staff was friendly and helpfull.

Firstly the fish that my sister ordered was still raw the water still came out of it due to de - frosting. Secondly the bar for the guest is treated as a club for all and our room was next to the bar. Loud music and screaming continued until 1:00 on Christmas eve and I had to go with my pajamas to ask them to stop. We drove 800km that day and had to continue with our journey early morning and could not sleep. I also feel that no guest can feel safe with the front door open which allow drunk people to get in and out of the venue as please due to the bar. We did not feel safe and according to me it is false advetising to say the venue is safe as it clearly is not. My suggestion is to not book guest in the rooms next to the bar if it is being run as a Club the noise is very disturbing. Thirdly the room was full of mosquetos with no insect killer spray. It was very bad. We were full of bite marks. Fourth the safe parking is also not safe for your vehicle as the gate is broken and is not being locked.I will not book a stay again anytime soon at this venue.

The meals and restaurant experience in general were quite poor. Service at the restaurant was not good at all.
