Grande Roche Hotel

Beautiful location, amazing grounds, awesome spacious room, very pleasant staff, including Carlton - who was particularly helpful and good with our baby :) Swimming pool is nice. Amazing views.

The restaurant is a complete mess. Dinner and breakfast servings were slightly farcical with meals taking hours to appear and food undercooked or incorrect. It was a real shame because the rest of the hotel is amazing. Management don’t seem to have a grip on what’s going on in the restaurant, and the staff are all over the place and complaining about each other and the chef and management etc… All very unprofessional and disappointing. The lunch serving seemed to be ok for some reason, and the food was great.

Service was outstanding, food is delicious, property is beautiful. Our room was super comfortable with lots of special touches - homemade cookies, great bath products, welcome bottle of wine, fresh sparkling water every day. Breakfast on the terrace every day was tasty with fantastic choices, served with an outstanding view. The all day menu has excellent choices for people coming and going - tea, late night snack etc., along with regular meals.

There was nothing we didn’t like.

Great location and well kept grounds especially the roses. Staff were excellent and were well trained in customer service. The rooms do need a makeover, quite dated.

Beautiful resort, very accomodating. Very well trained and friendly staff. We enjoyed and relaxed. Nice rooms, quiet and comfy bed.

There was strange unpleasant smell in the bathroom.

Less clutter on the walls in the rooms. Smell was a bit musty. It has that old furniture smell.WiFi was not great

No complaints

The hotel location is great. The gardens and communal area are beautiful. Restaurant staff and security were friendly. Lovely breakfast spread.

The bedrooms were seriously outdated. Definitely NOT 5 star. Bathrooms were old, looked like they needed a complete revamp, the hand towel ring fell off the basin when I reached for the towel. I would say more like a 3 star hotel accommodation. Receptionist was not friendly.

We had dinner on two evenings. The food was dreadful. The chef should be fired!

Dinner was a big disappointment. Breakfast was excellent

When I ordered dinner my lamb was not cooked as per my instructions to the waitress.Extremely disappointed.

Beautiful setting was a decoy.

We stayed in Room 85. The shower in the bathroom was in a shocking state. The grout was brown and black and looked like there was mould growing. Bedroom was ok, but bathroom was not even one star. For R6000 plus per night it was total a rip-off. Staff offered to move our luggage to a different room. As we were out all day.

Breakfast was very good. Setting was also very good and nice views. Staff were unobtrusive and friendly. Rooms were well appointed and the TV channels were extensive.

Staff member asked me what I doing on the property.....obviously not aware that I was a guest. Not that I mind but the query was fairly confrontational and in front of other guests he was showing around. He should learn the art of being discreet.

Grande Roche Hotel is beautiful and we loved the room.

The bathroom is in need of some TLC and the restaurant is just ok. At night you can hear the neighbourhood dogs barking constantly. Which isn’t the hotel’s fault but takes the peace and quiet away.

The property is a very old elegant vibe. The staff are wonderful

Sadly the price you paying and star rating you expect the rooms to be the highest quality. The staff are loving but the comfortability of the rooms sadly leaves a lot to be desired. The beds are hard. Pillows hard. And you can hear everything your Neighbour above you does. From the toilet to walking, to talking. And at 2am you best know you getting woken up with there noise.

no pool service. had to go to the bar to order drinks and food.

Nothing really..

The room was not what I saw online... Not accomdating at all.. Not able to even check in a little earlier before a wedding.... Breakfast took 40 minutes.. Unbelievable... Worst 1 night stay in a very long time. A complete over paid terrible hotel.

Scenic views

The hotel has seen its best days and needs a renovation. The standard and service is much below same category of hotels in SA.

The scenery was spectacular

The menu,nothing South African on the menu and the same menu.

The location is awesome. The grounds are in immaculate condition.

The restaurant menu needs improvement. More choices will be great.
