The interior design of the hotel.

The overall style was unique and the location was great. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The breakfast was also good.

The bed was so hard that I ended up sleeping in my car. We had booked a room for 3 adults, and were expecting 3 separate beds based on the photos online, but when we arrived we only had a queen sized bed. The staff ended up bringing us a fold up cot but it was extremely uncomfortable and the pillows were very flat. The entrance was very awkward. To get from the parking garage to our rooms, we needed to walk through a restaurant with all our bags. The room was very noisy and it sounded like there was a rave above us all night.

The location was very convenient. Everything was easily accessible by walking - shopping, restaurants, bus and train stations.The breakfast was exceptional. The hours were reasonable, the selection was great, and the food was delicious.The atmosphere of the hotel was great. It was an older building, but obviously had been completely updated, so it had a lot of character but was very comfortable. The eating area was in a large glass covered courtyard that really added to the experience.

It was super cold.the heating was off and it stayed that way although I have asked for help. Breakfast selection quite poor. At some point there was no coffee for approx 15min.

Breakfast was very typical Swedish which I was hoping for, The buffet style gave a choice of something light, something warm and something in-between.The room service was fantastic too!The Locations was perfectly situated with a 2 minute walk to the Centre of town but still extremely quiet. Great way to fell part of the City without the interruptions and easy to get transport to and from.

I loved it, however the double bed seemed to two single beds brought together so kept gently sliding in between them.

The hotel is well-located adjacent to the city center which has multiple pedestrian ways unfettered by autos. The dining room was open late which was essential since our train was so late.

The hotel needs to improve lighting for reading in bed.

We stayed in a Mystique room, and we really liked the bath tub and the coffee machine. The breakfast was delicious!

Excellent location, friendly staff. A somewhat dark but intriguing interior. Loved the staircase made of recycled wooden items.

No in-room coffee.

A place with an idea. The interior design required a lot of work and certainly makes the hotel unique.

Due to early check-out, I asked if it was possible to get a takeaway breakfast. Of course, the girls at the reception confirmed this option. I was even asked about my allergies and whether I also wanted coffee. It was very nice. So I didn't buy anything to eat. Unfortunately, nothing was prepared for us in the morning. The lady at the reception was surprised. Tragic attitude towards Guests.

Location and staff

1) Wall to wall carpets in the rooms must be removed due to health risks!2) The family room picture which shows in booking.com is totally for marketing, it doesn't show reality. When we compared with the other similar hotels in Umea, the ONLY reason why we choose Stora is:"in the picture all 4 beds are on the ground and room is big". But when we arrived the hotel, another shaped room was given us. Then I asked the reason and staff told me that they have different shaped family rooms and that room which we want is occupied. So We were unpleasant that our only criterion for choosing this hotel was not met!!

Location was great, close to everything we wanted to do and we walked everywhere, breakfasts were good, more than enough to eat and drink and well prepared.

Amazing decor and great breakfast. Like being near the river too. The room was furnished with wonderful collection of items. Coffee machine was great.

Don't stay here on the weekend or public holiday as the hotel faces a night club. The noise from the music kept me awake most of the night. As the building is old there was not a lot of sound proofing of the windows. I mentioned it staff but they responded that I had chosen to stay in the city.

The decor of this hotel was a sight in itself - the style was like mild steampunk, I'd say. Our family of three stayed in a junior suite, which was very big. The beds were huge - also the sofa bed. The bathroom was spacious and lovely.The location was perfect, there was private parking available, the personnel were helpful, and the breakfast offering was great.

There was no electric socket (that I could find) in the bathroom.

Marvellous, unique hotel in the heart of the city. The stylish interior design is meticuously crafted in a historic building. The staff was extemely friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was exceptional in a nice, covered courtyard.

Nothing I didn’t like

The hotel is a rather quirky and personable stay in Umea. The breakfast was fantastic and the room generally pleasant, although the view could've been improved. The staff was incredibly welcoming and kind throughout my stay. The breakfast catered satisfactorily to a vegan diet, but what was there was delicious.

The view was to an opposing office building, no vegan spread at breakfast.
