Pros +
- A super hotel run by fantastic staff in a beautiful location. My wife, daughter, and I were made to feel incredibly comfortable from the moment we arrived. Spacious rooms, clean, great facilities. Breakfast is outstanding. Ideal location.
- Beautifully set out and maintained property. Quiet and peaceful.
- Location is perfect and the staff is so kind! Special thanks to Siviwe for feeling us so welcome.
Cons -
- Breakfast finishes a little early and difficult to get a reservation in the hotel’s own restaurant.
- Property getting dated and you can tell they value other properties more (eg, the flagship Leeu Estates). Nice pool, but looks old. Carpet was worn and stained — not what you’re expecting at a hotel for $600/night in South Africa. Bathroom nice, but again looks dated. Overall, it was fine, but I’d recommend going upmarket or staying at a more budget place in Franschhoek.
- Only slight negative. They cleaned the place but we thought the option of not replacing some towels would be good. We could have missed what to do but we wouldn’t have all towels replaced.

Wonderful location right downtown so can walk to restaurants, wineries, etc.) Breakfast was fantastic and secure parking.

Hotel staff were amazing, Conrad and his team went above and beyond to make our anniversary special. Room was so plush and comfy, gardens are beautiful. Dinner at Epice is a MUST! Protege breakfast was excellent.
Everything. The room was large. Bed was very comfortable. We asked for a Bath and Shower. My partner loved the bath and the shower was great.
Only slight negative. They cleaned the place but we thought the option of not replacing some towels would be good. We could have missed what to do but we wouldn’t have all towels replaced.
The property was very centrally located in Franschhoek town that allowed for leisurely walks and shopping.Bedrooms where lovely and well appointed. On arrival the lounge reception and cocktail bar sets the tone of the property
The parking at the back of the property was difficult to navigate when leaving as the electric security gates open towards the vehicle. The bathroom shower needed to be cleaned properly and had black algae. When we left and loaded our luggage - there was only one person around from the team and they did not even get up to see us off or say goodbye. For an exclusive property of this nature the level of customer engagement was very low and concerning
Location is perfect. An oasis just off the Main Street.
Pool is quite small.
A beautiful relaxed hotel in the town of Franschhoek so able to walk to other restaurants. Large comfy rooms. Friendly staff.
Great Breakfast
A dining area for lunch that services a simple menu other than the pool
The property is very tastefully decorated, the rooms are spacious and it is located in town but very quiet and peaceful inside. The staff are also very friendly. The restaurants on site are also very convenient.
Very quiet, comfortable, friendly staff.
central , with excellent service and staff. We will come again
The pool area, views and room were all very beautiful.
We were on honeymoon and upon arrival were informed that a table had been booked for us that evening at the hotel restaurant, we were not given a menu to peruse and told we could cancel if it didn’t suit. We went along so as not to be rude. The bill came to four times that of the next most expensive meal we had on our entire trip in SA. Additionally, there were not enough beds at the pool and towels were not replaced as needed. I had also requested hard pillows in advance of our stay which was not accommodated.
Superb location, supremely comfortable, wonderful staff and one of the best meals of my life in Epice.
I loved everything about it!
Location, friendly reception and restaurant staff. Very good breakfast.
Unfortunately, the restaurant couldn't accommodate our party of 12 at one table for a special 70 th birthday celebration. Having booked one-third of the hotel, I expected a little bit more attention for this special event. Alls well that ends well, since I secured a spectacular venue to accommodate our request including the entertainment.
Comfortable , clean and tastefully decorated
We were unlucky with weather …
Exceptionally good hotel in beautiful surroundings. Could not have been happier of our choice of hotel in Franschhoek. True five star experience with attentive staff, clean, spacious and comfortable rooms. Loved the beautiful bathtub. Pool was clean and whole pool area and gardens really well kept and beautiful. Great location in the middle of Franschhoek.
Nothing not to like, it was perfection.
Calm, beautiful property. Staff were excellent, attentive without being fussy. felt very secure too.
A beautiful, tranquil luxury hotel, right in the centre of Franschhoek. Breakfast outside on the terrace was delicious and we could not have felt more welcomed by the friendly staff. Our room was large and spacious, tastefully decorated and well equipped.
