Pros +
- Cosy accommodation. Friendly and helpful staff. Pleasant atmosphere. Neat and clean
- Location close to Rachel Finlayson Pool for SA Masters Swimming Championships.Restaurant/bar facility in the hotel. Prices very reasonable.
- I liked the way stuff accomodated us with all possible needs. I did some mistakes with booking, they sorted it out. Every day someone was coming and cleaning our room to the best standards. I forgot my cosmetic bag and came back in 5 hrs time to collect it . I felt as at home . Could also cook and enjoy fantastic view. We also enjoyed a reptile show and spa on yhe 5th floor. Parking facilities are good and convenient. And it’s reasonably close to Ushaka Marine World. I loved everything about this hotel.
Cons -
- The inconvenience of having to go 5 floors down to have a smoke. As a smoker it's not enjoyable
- Only one lift working about 50% of the time. Had to use goods/maintenance lift once.External wall broken outside window on 11th floor - Dangerous to passers by.I killed a cockroach on the bedroom floor.Towels, bathmat not replaced one morning. Only one towel available that day.Extremely noisy (Staff ?) from 5am. Sometimes earlier.
- The room small, no balcony and I asked for one when I booked. I will never stay there again. Will not recomment

Only the food
The room small, no balcony and I asked for one when I booked. I will never stay there again. Will not recomment
The staff is welcoming and helpful
The rooms are soo small.Linen is old and torn. The TV channels are minimal and live streaming is not allowed. Not breakfast buffet..The shower gels and body lotion wasn't enough for 2 people, only 1 set was available.Reallly I didn't like the place. The sales people from booking agents on 4th floor were annoying and pestering
The food was good
The beds and from day 1 we struggle with our door to open and nobody was willing to help
Nice break accept for shower and basin was leaking we did report to reception but no 1 came 2 fix And room is abit cramped up otherwise overall was a good stay
There hotel is very old, the furniture looks like it has been there since 1994. there is nothing to like about itThe air conditioning is those old ones that have one controller for the entire apartment as a result the "main bedroom" was not getting cooled while the other rooms were freezing
The restaurant is horrible... One time we got served rotten food and there waany even an apology. The stuff doesn't seem to know what's going on and are not trainedThere was mould growing on the shower ceiling. The chairs had rust. The couch had bed bugs... The room service comes knocking at 8 to collect towels so she can wash n return them so the towels are old. This hotel is not 4 star maybe it was buy not anymore.
The view was out of tis world. We could see the beach from our room. The day we didn't go we could see the kids from our room. The stuff was lovely. The breakfast was delicious. As a plant-base person the menus/meals did not really cater for us . The improvements must be made to cover all groups. Will surely come back.

The location close to the beach and uShaka Marine
The room allocated first of all it was a paraplegic room, lights not working by the lounge side and we were told that they know about it and it was okay fir them while we pay for the facilities to be working perfectly fine. That was room 1805. The extractor fan in the bathroom never worked and it was smelling pretty bad. Balcony was never cleaned and the patio chair never wiped or cleaned.
1.The property’s location is nice,it is close everything and everything is in walking distance to everything.2. The hotel staff was always friendly we had Zanele was our cleaner and she has amazing and a young called Nosipho and the restaurant at Pesto always so friendly and served us with the smile.3. We arrived early before the check in time and we got assisted very quickly and we got a room early and that was THE BEST THING THEY COULD DO.4. I like that when you check out they can keep your luggage for you for the rest of the day until later on at night free of charge.5. The common area( the 5th floor) is amazing and you have access to it the whole day. 6. The pool is great too.
1. The blankets that were kept in the wardrobe didn’t smell nice, the need to be washed every time guests leave.2.The blinds on the second room with the twin beds was not working well, it had a burnt spot and wasn’t working and made the room full.3. My bookings include breakfast, they don’t have a breakfast buffet but they gave us a budget of R130 per person but you have to pay a Vat of 15% with your meals so basically everyday I had to pay after eating breakfast.4.they usually gave tea/coffee sachets everyday after the cleaning but this time they only provided it once on the day of your arrival and when I inquired the said they it’s a self catering hotel.. they don’t provide them anymore.5. We booked for Christmas week and we were not told about it as guests and when we went for breakfast were not rushed to finish as they were preparing for the lunch, it was not a nice feeling having to be rushed to finish your food.NB: I have stayed at The palace 4 years again and they were a lot of changes with the system, which could have been communicated before we get to the hotel. It’s a nice place but I don’t think I’ll be coming back.
Underground parking .
They took very long to bring a TV remote en there was no towels in the room. No breakfast was included.
The ocean view, the food was amazing the staff was friendly and respectful
A letter under the door 1st thing in the morning like we being chased away
Fantastic location. I had a spectacular room with a Terrance to see both the city and the sea view. The kitchen was fully equipped and there was a large fridge so I could feel like living there.
Bath room water was cold. Mot heating up.
The view
I booked this for my gran for a wedding. She loved the hotel, it was very spacious and clen, the view was great and the service and staff were wonderful.
Had to pay for parking I guess, but it really wasn't even expensive so not that bad
The Spa facility was very good. Frindly staff.
The bathroom could do with a revamp.
Good location Decent aestheticPrevious stays were good..
Hotel rooms are EXTREMELY small Phone in room wasn't working Bathroom light not working (and bathroom has no window so was dark if door was closed) Bathroom ceiling was moldy Passages to the rooms had a funky smell After numerous calls and complaints, the manager kindly upgraded our room at no extra costOn arrival at the new, better room- it was dark and had to wait for maintenance to go and buy power for a prepaid meter to get electricity. Overall, really disappointed
Good
That we expect balcony in our room and the TV channels were 3 and it's only for news
Staff very friendly & welcoming Beautiful view & location
Did not receive wakeup call.Bathtub very difficult to get in & out of, due to placement of glass & toilet.
