Security level of safety. Extremely polite, professional, and helpful staff at check-in, restaurant, and throughout the hotel.

I loved everything abou/ the hotel;the extravagant decor, cleanliness of room/hotel, bar/lounge DJ, and ambiance of the hotel.

Suites was huge, well decorated.

Hotel and room was tastefully decorated and was pleasing to stay in. Complimentary breakfast came with room and it was fantastic. Location was perfect, getting around was a breeze. Compliments to the hotel!

Room was modern and clean. Hotel located in the perfect spot. Breakfast was fantastic too. Staff were exemplary. I would most certainly recommend this hotel.

Unfortunately it was quite noisy due to the crowds visiting the Christmas light display in Melrose Arch. Otherwise, I'm sure it would have been fine.

The room , location and breakfast were all spectacular, they were as described the staff do go above and beyond especially since we had a 11MO baby with us. Every interaction with the staff was pleasant the, room overlooked the Christmas market which was so lovely since we couldnt go out at midnight with the baby, we were also able to see some lovely fireworks from neighboring areas from our room.

The Finding Nemo dish - we ordered from Room Service, the dressing was unpalatable and the plate was drenched in it, almost making is a waste of money, no matter how hungry you were, I couldnt bring myself to eat that salad which is half the dish. For my husband and I, there was only one pair of slippers, and only 1 gown.

I felt like a king at Protea. I love the old Hollywood theme and appreciate the inclusion of Black celebrities in the decor! The hotel is very elegant and in a fantastic location. Very upscale. Now the staff is next level. EVERYONE made me feel like I was the only guest. From the porters and housekeepers to the dining staff, everyone engaged me in convo and made sure I was having a great day. But then there was Smangele! My little sister made sure I had whatever I needed…from great recommendations to a big smile and greeting each time she saw me. She is the model for customer service. I’m not sure if she’s in management but she should be. Overall my stay was perfect and I will be returning on my next trip.

Location, location, location. We could walk everywhere. Area felt safe. Near several restaurants and shopping. Hop on the big red bus in front of the hotel and sight see. The staff is friendly and helpful. The breakfast which is included was out of this world!

Loved everything about this hotel.

The room was clean, comfortable and felt spacious . We requested a baby cot and they also included a bath which was extremely thoughtful and useful.

Placed perfectly in centre of Melrose near restaurants… pleasure to walk and safe.

Not able to cater to muslim patrons.. frames etc couldn’t be removed as we cannot pray with picture of annimate objects around!

The pictures all over of musicians, actors and pictures depicting USA whilst we are in South Africa. I did not feel at home because of this.

The location is beautiful and central for business.

The rooms are tiny any way below 5 star stands.The hotel is overpriced. It costs more than the four seasons at the westcliff without any of the 5 start luxurious treatment. Sandton in Sandton and Rosebank are far cheaper and superior in quality of the rooms and service.It's definitely not worth the money.They change you in full for breakfast with the rooms and still bill you a full separate fee for the same breakfast if you choose in roomservice. The roomservice staff is extremely rude too, if I was not forced to be there for a conference I would have checked out. I don't recommend this place if you respect yourself or value good service and 5 star treatment.

Directions of where to park. It was not explained properly and I was very far from the hotel. My frustration was trying to find my car. At least 20 mins each time and ran late due to this. I was looking for parking numbers on the pillars, was not aware it was painted on the floor, and each security person gave different directions for parking for your hotel - even though I told them it had to be B2 - wherever that is. Also l assumed parking was included in the hotel fee. Not a bit deal, but at checkout the parking was not mentioned. I came back from my conference to be told that I need to pay the hotel R75 to get my parking ticket sorted. I dont mind the cost, just that it should have been mentioned at checkout to save me coming back to ask.

Staff were very friendly. Room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. Only downfall was room service dinner - Caesar salad was small , boring and overpriced
