- A classic "Old Lady" steeped in history. Rooms were comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful, especially Cindy.
- I enjoyed the historical paintings, photos, maps best. What a jewel!Staff went out of their way to make me feel comfortable.
- What a gem (pun intended, given the diamond history)!! Beautiful, grand old clubhouse that now cheerfully welcomes visitors of all types. If you (like me) appreciate history, this has it in spades as well as being a comfortable room with a lovely breakfast. If you’re visiting the Big Hole nearby, this is also the ideal compliment, as the club was built together with the buildup of Kimberley’s diamond industry. Highly recommended !!
Cons -
- It is an old establishment, and does require a bit of maintenance. It is located in the centre of town, so may be a bit noisy. We were initially given street front rooms, but were later moved to inner rooms on the recommendation of the staff, due to the expected Saturday night noise!
- Nothing to complain about.
- All historic buildings have quirks. The only minor issues here were the time it took for the water to get hot and the finicky doorknob.

An absolute delight and a step back in time. A beautiful, well maintained hotel that takes you to a bygone era. Just a pity that we were the only people there for our first night and another couple of people there the 2nd night. Would be fabulous to see the hotel bustling with people.
Bar and dining room service a bit slow, but considering we were the only people there, one cannot expect them to have staff sitting in the bar hoping someone will pop in
The room was not clean and the sheets has some stains
The must change the bedding
History , check in restaurant
Paint peeling from wall. Toilet didn’t flush.
the friendly staff made extra effort to ensure my 17th anniversary were unforgettable! the rich history is also intriguing
even though the surroundings might not be what it were100 years ago, the secure parking more than makes up for it
What a fascinating place - almost like stepping back in time! Packed with artefacts from a bygone era and full of history. Very comfortable bedroom and spotlessly clean.
Located in CBD isn’t the most attractive setting. While the dinner menu was wholesome I felt it was more akin to ‘bar food’ rather than a restaurant. While the website refers to a ‘fine dining’ experience I presume this is for other more formal occasions rather than the routine day-to-day set up that I experienced.
Place is very luxurious beautiful with all the history. Very peaceful and quite. Very friendly staff had a great time. Rooms were beautiful.
Breakfast was not that great, had a blackish color with bitter taste, and the pillows need to be replaced it's very thin.
Didn't have breakfast. The place is history brought alive
Bedsprings need oiling!
Faded grandeur
It’s a bit tired very noisy floors and beds
The history of the property is exceptional. Beautifully laid out. Good bar and restaurant. The staff were very accomodating.
They should lean more into the incredible heritage here (there was a signed photo of Queen Elizabeth II behind a coat stand which was a shame). There are few staff about and they seemed to be running between the bar and the reception to cover both a lot.
My gripe about “golden oldies” is that the properties are usually run down with its history being used as an excuse for lack of upkeep, not so with Kimberley Club. We walked into what felt like old time glamour. The property is such a gem. People who love history will definitely love this, plus on how comfortable the bed was and how absolutely spotless the room was.
My only gripe was the shower. Water came out of only one nozzle resulting in a single stream of water during the shower.
Old world charm and personal service. Feeling of history
Uneasy about neighbourhood especially after dark.
I think both staff we met were very friendly and helpful. The reception manager/barman/waiter (boxer in spare time) was an exceptionally good host. No doubt a very valued member of staff. The history of the hotel is so interesting and hopefully will be nurtured by generations to come. The evening meal was delicious - we had lamb.
The room was fine although could have had some drinking water and a tumbler available. Nice balcony and bathroom facilities.
Chance to stay in a historical property was amazing and see all the artifacts of bygone days. Staff are very friendly and helpful, food was delicious (breakfast and supper). Secure parking at back of hotel even though in centre of town so definitely worth the stay.
Interesting history, beautiful rooms.
Unfortunately, there was a wedding taking place, and this establishment appears not to have the capacity to look after guests while running a function. We sat down to dinner at the agreed time of 7:30 and placed our order. After an hour and a half of waiting, no food arrived, and we literally went to bed hungry. (Other guests in the dining room had been served earlier). There was no one around to speak to - the place appeared entirely empty (apart from the wedding taking place behind closed doors). We called out to try and get attention, but nothing.. Eventually, the waitress emerged and was apologetic, but it was too late. When we woke up the next morning, there was no water for a shower. All of this is unacceptable on a long car journey. The place was recommended to us by family but we were sorely disappointed. Also, there were no vegetarian options, which in this day and age is ridiculous.
The property captures the history of yesteryears. Would have loved to stay longer for a tour guide and story telling. Strolling around and seeing pictures and historical artifacts was amazing.
Historic building with interesting features.
Poor location. Could not sleep with music blaring out across the street till 1 AM. Drag racing in the street below our window. No assistance with baggage up the stairs. I was asked to fill out a form upon arrival but there was not a single pen or pencil at reception. No fridge in room although it was advertised as such. Coffee, sugar etc available but the room had no kettle! Food in restaurant was good but took far too long to prepare and side servings very small for the price.
Room was spacious and comfortable. Bathroom and other facilities clean and also spacious.
Location is not for anyone that wants to walk anywhere. It is in a dodgy area. Outside the Hotel it was very dirty, papers and rubbish everywhere. Even inside the hotel there was a function the previous evening and it wasn't cleaned up yet. The restaurant service was slow and our first two orders were not available from the menu. Had to re-order after we received incorrect menus. Aircon wasn't working in the dining area and it was hot. There was zero atmosphere with no music playing in dining area or Bar. On arrival it seemed like staff was playing their own music.
