Charming and very friendly staff
Our room was very small. Bathroom was very tight.
The hotel is quaint, and old, which lends to its charm and there are great views from the property located in a historic neighborhood.
We only stayed, or attempted to stay one night of the two we had booked. The hotel is in a very old building and pictures paint it as much nicer than it is in reality. It is damp and musty - somewhat rundown overall. You can also hear everything happening in the immediate vicinity... Bathrooms are cramped and somewhat poorly maintained - the water did not even run when we first arrived, though was back on within the hour. The staff was somewhat helpful, but we had to cancel our reservation without staying a full night as it seems I am allergic to the cleaning agent they use to wash the bed sheets - not their fault of course. That being said we likely would have moved on anyway as it simply did not meet the expectations the pictures set and was not what we wanted for a relaxing end to a long trip. To top it off I inquired about checkout and potentially refunding some or all of the second completely unused day but still have yet to receive a response - not that they are in any way obligated, but still, would have been nice to have some sort of dialogue...
perfect stay for a one night trip to Valparaiso. We went for an art exhibition in Judas Galeria which was around the corner. It is a magical hotel because it really feels like entering a house in the past. all the wooden details are intact and the decoration is authentic to old Valparaiso architecture. we have stayed twice, my favourite room was the one with a balcony that we got the first time, this time we got a room on the second floor that was still very nice but not as nice. The staff was super helpful and made breakfast for us super early ( before the official breakfast time) because we told them we had to drive somewhere else. We really appreciated that! I would reccomend and definitely go back!
Location was great!
Room given didn’t look anything like what was in the picture. When shown the picture was told that what we booked wasn’t available, but was supposedly given an upgrade because it had a view. I wanted the space not the view. Other than that the place itself was very nice and the workers were great. You do need to be very careful going up the stairs as the steps were very small.
Location and the architecture of the hotel. The breakfast was really nice too. The views.
The room was very nice but the bed was extremely uncomfortable. Too soft to the point we were not able to sleep properly. The room could also have been a bit more tidy, specially since there were no other guest that day it seemed weird that some details were overseen.
Beautiful character hotel with stunning views to Valparaiso harbour and city. Loved your stay here. Breakfast was superb and pop up restaurant had a lovely menu and served in the open courtyard. Great location to explore the historic area.
Everything was fine.
Perfect locationNice staff
Nice hotel but there are lots of issues with the rooms/toilets/showers
This hotel is beautiful and very charming. The staff were lovely and helpful. Breakfast was delicious. Views from the restaurant are gorgeous. View from our room was beautiful apart from the 1 tower block, but there’s nothing they can do about that. WiFi was pretty dent too.
Breakfast was served to us and included fresh scrambled eggs, hot rolls, avocado, yogurt. Very good and in a high ceiling old dining room with views of the harbor. Location was excellent and the old mansion is beatiful. Very quiet at night, room 1 on top floor was spacious and quiet. Charming hotel. Great staff. Would stay again.
Breakfast was very good. It was a very good location. There were stores and restaurants near. The staff was super helpful and courteous.
It felt a little dusty. It had very old rugs.It might be because everything is so old. I was told it was the first house built in that sector of Valparaiso. Now a hotel. But, it had its charm and the staff was #1.
Location, heritage features
Access to upper levels is difficult, different services for a class of guest, indifferent staff
Breakfast was very nice served by a gentle wonderful woman. I booked this facility because it had a connection for transportation from Santiago. The car service was very pleasant and driver very helpful. Staff provided a very early checkin which was very very welcome after a long journey.
The toilet did no work well. Water cold.
Location is fine, although the town itself has seen better days. Breakfast was the same every day, no choices were available. View was great if you like a view of the docks.
The stairs to our top floor room were extremely steep and probably quite dangerous. The bathroom had a constant smell of drains, not helped by the fact that you are not able to put toilet paper in the toilet.
Good location near the heart of the “touristy” bit of Valparaiso. Everything else is pretty grim.
Re value for money, pretty much the worst place I have been to, and I have travelled a lot. It’s noisy and dirty. The bathrooms in 2 of our 3 rooms were so tiny it was difficult to perform basic functions. The showers were really tough to use and it could take a long time for the water to warm up. The television picture was terrible, the remote control was held together by characteristically dirty tape. Breakfast was awful, the coffee was warm black water. Hunger and thirst seemed a better option. The rooms were manky and just not clean. We were there for 4 nights and the room was cleaned once, we had to ask for more toilet paper. The noise from the disco attached to the adjoining hotel was massive and went on till 3:30am; it may have been New Year but apparently this is regular weekend occurrence. If it were a budget hotel, about $35 per night, it could be acceptable; however, it’s really expensive, the worst value for money I have ever experienced. Some of the staff were ok, most were pretty miserable and begrudging, particularly on reception.
nice flat with a great view - easy check in at the front desk
This is a beautiful historic home well maintained and charming. It is centrally located on the most main Cerro of interest in this lovely city. The decorations and general feel is understated so you can feel very comfortable to wander about and enjoy the place and surroundings - great setting inside and with great views to the ocean. The staff are amazing and so very helpful - many thanks to Claudia and Damien for all their help.
Nothing - this was absolutely perfect and a real treat for us - loved it !
The location was absolutely fantastic! The hotel is a beautiful historic building, full of charm and character, and I loved having a room with a Juliet balcony. The staff were always smiling and ready to help, and the breakfast was really enjoyable. Overall, I felt it was good value for money, and would definitely go back.
Just bear in mind that the hotel is up one of Valparaisos many hills. Make sure you have comfy shoes, and definitely use the funicular if you are carrying your luggage! The only thing I would have liked is a bigger shelf or more storage in the bathroom, because I struggled to know where to put things.
