Best Western Hotel River C

A very reasonably priced hotel in the centre of Karlstad. Extremely friendly staff. Very generous breakfasts.

Rooms are rather compact.

Location and breakfast were very good

I booked a twin room with river view. the booking stated 2 bed. the room had 1 bed only.Also, the bathroom had no lock on it which was a very important feature that should be there. The biggest problem was that the river view ended up being a very small window on the non-usable side of the room. It doesn't justify the difference of price to the normal room.

No light in the room, the window blinds fell on my head, and the sope dispenser did not work.

The breakfast was great. The person who checked us in was very pleasant and helpful and pointed out parking options. Also, there was free cocoa (hot chocolate) available 24 hrs., which was a nice treat after driving all day in cold, windy, rainy weather. Close to the world-famous rock bridge.

The room above us was busy, walking and talking late into the night. Also, there was a sound like someone was walking up and down the stairs, very late into the night. I room was very close to the stairs. Not sure if it was someone walking the stairs or if it could have been some other rhythmic, maybe it was a washing machine or dryer? Whatever it was steady and last long after I finally fell asleep. Did NOT like that the booking app asked for a picture of my credit card and it did so spontaneously, not giving me the option to delete it. Hope you don't store or sell personal information. Would have preferred a room facing the water instead of the front step.

We’ve stayed here before, 2 years ago. We chose this hotel again because of location: the close proximity to the city center, while still far enough to be in a really quiet area. This time we had Superior rooms facing north with view of the large river. It was a great choice! Observing the bicyclists across the river was a very relaxing moment. The hotel upholds the same standards as last time, with a good breakfast, modern bathrooms with great shampoo/shower selection, and very pleasant staff.

Only a single elevator for both staff and customers, which can get busy during morning hours due to breakfast, staff cleaning service, and checkouts. We lived at the top floor and had to wait a while before the elevator came to take us down.The stairs are a big no, metallic spiral staircase with see-through holes, very vertigo inducing for those afraid of heights, too narrow to move with luggage.

A bit rundown over all. Shower heads could need a refurbish and update. And the lighting in the room is at cave level. The easily could get a good 8 when they spend a bit on the shower and some light.

Friendly receptionists and kitchen staff. Breakfast included - excellent for plant based diet. Selections of sprouted seeds and range of freshly cut vegetables and fruitLucky to be given a room overlooking water and old stone bridge. Very quiet. Very clean. Very comfortable bed and linens. Lovely walks along bank historic areas close to museum cathedral main square shops and restaurant. Easy 15 min walk to bus and train. Highly recommend.

Personnel, breakfast, location and room perfectly as expected.I was "upgraded" to a nicer room and like this new one really much, except one thing...

The beds were not really comfortable and mine was noisy and is due for replacement.Cause a whole lot of missed sleep unfortunately :(

Biker friendly, ample free parking available for motorcycles just in front of the hotel. Very good breakfast included. Free coffee, tea and juice available 24h. Lift available to reach the upper floors. Comfortable double bed with 6 pillows. Well sized bathroom with good shower and Rituals toiletries. Centrally located very close to the city centre. Fan is available on request. Very friendly staff at check in. Check in and check out is done very efficiently.

Windows of the economy rooms on the ground floor can’t be opened.

The hotel was near a parking lot.

- Air condition was out of service. When I complained about the air condition, the receptionist said:”anyway outside is warm too”- didn’t have so options for the breakfast

Clean, comfortable, and relatively quiet

Lovely location on the riverfront with a lovely river view from our room. Very pleasant room. Karlstad is a lovely town, would highly recommended a visit if you get the chance. Good value for money.

The location and the staff.

The room needs at least a fan in the heat. I thought it had Air Conditioning but didn’t. Left the windows open all night and it worked well.
