Pros +
- Small but comfortable room, nice to have a bath rather than just a shower. Bed comfortable. Very good breakfast.
- Spotlessly clean and comfortable
- the staff were helpful and the meals we had were good
Cons -
- Restaurant was expensive for what is what $34 for 2 courses. WiFi in my room was very marginal. Usually had to go to reception for a strong signal.
- Heating was far to hot , couldn't sleep as it was to hot kike the time in October far to hot at night.
- The room No 1 was too small for the price we paid. It had a new door and we had to call for help on a number of occasions to lock it and then to open it. The shower was dangerous for octogenarians as there was no railing in the shower, because of the size of the room one armchair was positioned in a corner which made watching the TV most difficult and finally to return to the room after dinner in the dark we had to go outside and the lighting to our room was less then adequate particularly as there were steps to be negotiated. All very disappointing and I have to say that the hotel itself is rather tired and needs upgrading

not much
traditional and old fashioned, dogs and stupid tortoise. Some staff not very hospitable. I’m from Australia and travel a lot and I’m a bit fed of British complacency in the hospitality sector which leaves a lot to be desired.
Fantastic shared spaces throughout the hotel. Lovely big games room for children and adults, lovely snug cinema and a quiet library space. Lots of big squashy sofas to lounge about on. We had an evening meal and the food was very good, not cheap, but worth it. We had a full afternoon tea and it was fresh and delicious and excellent value. And the view from the bar was fantastic.
The indoor swimming pool is very small. You have to cross a road to get to the beach, a 5/10 minute walk away.
The property was quaint and old fashioned - but in a lovely way. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious. And the barman made an excellent negroni!!!
We were so disgusted we did not stay
Everything. The bar etc rooms stank if stale cigarette smoke. The bar staff cleared our table but didn’t wipe it clean. It was filthy. We paid over £1000.00 for a three night stay but the allocated room was so disgusting and dirty we left and went home. The website photos are a joke. We will be posting our own photos and referring this matter to Trading Standards
My son and I go every Yearand he absolutely adores it. It’s a great location on the beach easy access to Swanage and just a beautiful place to stay.
As a single mum, I think it’s a little bit expensive
Quiet and peaceful, lovely staff and plenty of walks.
Choice of food Il
Fantastic 1930s hotel. Being lovingly cared for. We would hate it to change. Fantastic dining room. Great breakfast. Comfortable lounges and library. Lovely gardens. We used the indoor pool and Jacuzzi. Much appreciated. Fantastic views of the sea and Purbeck hills. Easy to reach Poole, Wareham and Swanage. We will definitely come here again.Good WiFi in the main hotel.
Our garden apartment had a few issues. The size of the room was great, nice furniture and comfy beds. But no WiFi and a very small TV. No fridge. Only one plug socket in the whole room.Very nice bathroom. Good shower pressure. We understand that the new owners are planning many improvements, but we hope they don't lose the 1930s splendor, there are plenty of modern, soulless hotels to choose from.We were disappointed that the pools close at 5pm. This seems too early
good location , lovely and big ,good areas to choose from to relax in ,plenty of comfortable chairs ,young lady on reception Sunday around 4pm was exceptionable so helpful.
didnt like the stair Case near the noddy cabinet, the kettle had a lot of black bits in ,maybe worth the cleaners checking them .
Good spa, nice breakfast
Dated decor
Location - right on the doorstep of some of the most stunning and unspoilt scenery in the UK. Able to park right outside the two-bed suite (essentially a holiday cottage with no living room). Gigantic, comfy common areas hark back to a bygone age of UK hotel stays. Games room, sports and pool facilities were really enjoyable. Lovely playground for the kids and extensive walking trails. Dog friendly. Great breakfast.
Bit tatty - needs some TLC. Fire doors in the suite were too heavy for my wife. Wi-fi doesn't reach outside the main building. Limited menu options the same for both lunch and dinner. Breakfast only open for 1.5 hrs on a bank holiday.
Location and staff on point
The hotel is in need of a link of paint everywhere and is wo dated from the 70s no water in the room not good value for money
Knoll House is a pleasant Hotel in a beautiful part of the world.
If feels like you are going back in time to the 1980's - the whole hotel is perfectly ok but is feels old and tired and ready for some Investment to update and place it back into the 21st Century.
The unique character - old - fashioned time warp. The games room and lounges. Balconies and views excellence Dog friendliness Good breakfast. Nice outdoor pool
One glass of Malbec was 10.40 - crazy
Old fashioned, nice paintings everywhere, interesting history, comfortable room (we paid extra for a sea view) lovely walks straight from the hotel.
The bar is a lovely area, but there is no draught beer, both evenings the bar staff were inexperienced and very slow.
Relaxed rustic charm. 3 nice lounges & log fire, games room, sauna, steam room, plunge pool, jacuzzi, outdoor pool in summer, 2 tennis courts, large breakfast. Excellent location for the beach & exploring National Park with stunning Poole harbour views.Generally the hotel would benefit from finishing touches like repairing planters, filling plant pots, bath v small, weeding tennis court edges, better table tennis bats, etc. Hotel needs to answer the phone for queries. Recommend rooms in main house with terrace balcony by driveway for full sun! Would revisit.
Beautiful location with lovely walks from the hotel. Very dog friendly with a dining room where you can eat with your dog. The hotel is a little shabby which I accept is part of the charm. Personally im not a fan of the food here and it’s not cheap. Little in the way of healthy options. Veg of the day was cauliflower cheese.
Good selection at breakfast, dinner food was very good, nice selection of activities (swimming, golf, tennis, games room), great sea view
Game was broken in games room, too few golf clubs and balls available,
