    Pros +

    • The grounds were pretty
    • Convenient location. Lovely room although very hot. Signs said don’t open windows. Nice big bed.
    • Good location for London cruise terminal, friendly staff easy check in/out

    Cons -

    • It was a long confusing walk to our suite. The water for the bathroom was cold I guess as it’s a long way from the boiler. The TV was wonky. No choice of suite we wanted the William and Mary room I guess. Messy walkway trays left outside rooms for our entire stay. Didn’t like having to walk through the spa area to access the lift to our suite. If I was a customer I wouldn’t like guests walking through with luggage.
    • Too hot in the room. One pillow was incredibly lumpy.
    • When using the spa facilities we was only given a towel where everyone else had bathrobes, obviously I now realise that I actually hadn’t booked a spa break as I had thought, but this was because there was no spaces to rebook treatments

Lovely decor and situation. Staff mostly exceptional, breakfast delicious, meals in the cafe sartoria also v good.

One or two staff not quite as exceptional as the rest. Nobody was bad by any means.

We were given a suite, which was great. Love the grounds which are interesting even in winter

Food in the Cafe was not as good as usual - fish was sweated

Room was lovely and much larger than expected - was pleasantly surprised. Also bathroom was lovely and clean and bright and will equipped.Staff were very helpful and pleasant particularly the bar staff at the evening birthday function we were attending. Liked option of breakfast in Cafe Sartorio and being able to have an alternative to a full English breakfast served in the main restaurant. The food in the Cafe was nicely cooked and quite reasonably priced. It had a really nice relaxed less formal atmosphere. The very impressive hotel building and grounds surrounding it are beautiful, especially for weddings and special functions it is the perfect setting with plenty of parking for guests and would return again.

High up rainfall shower only option in our bathroom rather than having a rise and fall shower bar to be able to adjust the height of the shower head to suit the person. If a shower cap was provided this wouldn't have been quite so much of a problem but I could only use the shower on trickle as I didn't want to actually wash my hair again the same day we arrived as I had only just washed it at home earlier that day! Also when the sliding shower door was closed it left a gap to one side of the shower and water leaked out.No central light in room only wall or side lights and a dim table lamp beside the dressing table mirror which meant it was hard to see to use a hairstyler at the dressing table. Was just lucky my hairstyler had a long lead to stretch it from the nearest plug socket to the full-length mirror near the door. The checking in procedure was one I have never come across before anywhere else to be honest. Also there was an unexpected £50 deposit required which was deducted from my bank account as well as the full payment for the room at the same time and I am especially not happy that it will not be refunded until a few days after my stay.

Orsett Hall used to be the premier hotel in the area, expensive but worth it. I needed a hotel in Thurrock and immediately booked Orsett Hall and thought I had an absolute bargain at £90.

£90 was £30 too much. It is now very run down, broken bed, no heating to speak of, ended up with an electric heater in the room but so did most rooms as the heating system is poor. Holes in wall, carpets are dirty and ‘baggy’. Curtains hanging off. I know the property was sold recently and can only assume the new owners are running it down for a reason.

Nice big clean room and comfortable bed.

I booked the spa, but I think I ended up paying for it twice. There was a charge on my card and I paid at the spa.

    Lovely rooms and great setting

The breakfast let it down it was cold and way to much sauce I had eggs Benedict and couldn’t eat it which was a shame because the rest of the stay was nice

The place is strange really - you go into a big car park not too well lit but not sure which way you are to go - the Big Mansion house Hotel looks impressive and its the annex that we stayed in so could not rate the main hotel but all looked very good from outside and entrance. The Annex has a leisure side which we did not have time to try but looked very good and the staff in the annex (bar area) were very attentive which made it great for our stay there.

it's a little confusing on which way to go, the annex at the rear of the main building was okay if not a bit quirky with low ceilings or sloping aspects and veluxe windows, I got a room change as my one had a strong smell like carpet cleaner as they may have just been cleaned but staff were helpful and found me another room, The TV did not work too well as with heavy rain the Wifi reception was poor so it needed better signal to make the TV work as it kept clicking off - We had full breakfast which was back around the front hotel maybe a 7/10 (pretty average really breakfast really) and it just has a feel of an older property that needs a refresh and better breakfast ingredients, but it would not stop me / us staying again

    Worst stay at a supposed...

I booked this stay for my wife and I . Due to our 18mth old son being ill I was unable to go. I suggested my wife take our 10 yr old daughter instead as we didn't want to lose the money and the hotel claims to be "family friendly " On arrival the reception staff were rude and unhelpful and wanted to charge extra for our daughter. My wife refused and asked to speak to the manager. After explaining the situation the manager accepted the receptionist had been wrong and offered 2 free breakfasts in way of apology. My wife accepted. Following a sleepless night due to 2 parties with loud music going on till 3 am then the guests in the room opposite drunkenly screaming shouting and arguing, my wife and daughter were woken at 7am by the same guests arguing and shouting. Despite asking the hotel to deal with this ,they did not. Breakfast arrived at the room at 10am ,barely warm ,eggs cold and hard boiled instead of poached and generally unappealing. As they started to eat what they could of the breakfast a cleaner barged straight into the room at 10.15 despite checkout being 11am.To add insult to injury when my wife went to check out the cost of the breakfast which she had been assured was free had been deducted from her card..£47.00!!! When queried the receptionist claimed she knew nothing about it and no manager was available. Absolute disgrace. Staff rude unhelpful liars. Food poor at best. Cleaners rude. Will NEVER stay here again.

The stay was OK. But I was asked a deposit of 50£ that was not mentioned anywhere during the booking process. And I still have not received them back after nearly a month.

Loved the cleanliness, loved the look of the room, and the handsoaps were gorgeous (espa)

At 5.50am either a room was being set up or a loud delivery or something, there was absolutely loads of banging and scraping which woke me and a few other guests up. Quite careless of the venue considering our function finished at 1. Similarly about 2am all the bottles were put into the bottle bins again waking us all up.

This was a shot in the dark and got a balls eye. I took 17 of us to this wonderful hotel to enjoy my wife’s birthday. The staff were accommodating and friendly the food was great too. The rooms were a good size and comfortable

The bar closed a bit to quickly and it would have been nice to have the bar open a little later or at least served us in the adjoining room
