Clean, staff were friendly and welcoming, beautiful hotel and beautiful location

I cant find a fault it was perfect

I liked the late check in and the friendly staff. The room was brilliant. Having left the key in the room having someone on reception to help was a load of my mind.

Bit out of the way, car or taxi required to get around nearby villages/ towns. Not on a bus route

So we came down to York because we were visiting a friend, and came along this hotel. Booked this hotel and when we came the staff in the reception were extremely friendly and welcoming, told us where everything was/ open till, after arriving we went to our room and then went to dinner everything was cleaned and tidy We didn’t even know they had a games room, and found a dart board (we love playing darts) Everything/ everyone was friendly We will be definitely coming back

I liked the quiet location , not far from York. The rooms were spacious and clean. The staff were very attentive and the dining was extremely good value for money and the food was of a high quality.

The floors above creaked somewhat but it didn't bother us unduly.

Really nice location, good food options and comfy bed.

Little tired but great value.

All good, plenty of parking good sized room and bathroom, very clean.

Bed was not great quality, ashame as everything else was good.

The location, and food. Service was great

at the bar, even after spending money there my girlfriend bringing half a bottle of coke to the bar almost caused a commotion between me and the attendant.

Room was ok on first floor okay it's was basic but fine

Only bad about the room was as a family with two rooms I was on the first floor and other people was upstairs far away when I asked to be close

The room was cold most of the time The room duvet was very thinThe buffet breakfast was poor for choice

The breakfast was processed food and very underwhelming

The atmosphere at the hotel was extremely bland & i had reason to ask for the duty manager who i found to be smarmy & arrogant. He certainly didnt take ownership of my complaint and blamed my friends for being rude, TOTALLY UNTRUE. Woukd NEVER set foot in this hotel ever again.

Reception, food and general ease all went well. Staff were helpful and friendly

The plumbing could have been a little more modern with directions about how to change bath to shower but that is something to experiment with and isn't a complaint.

The radiator valve in our room didn’t work so the room was boiling when I thought I’d turned it down.The bar lacks atmosphere; ok when several groups of people in there giving background noise but when only a few it’s not pleasant, it actually made us leave rather than have a second drink. It needs background music to make it feel a nicer space to relax with a drink.

Good over priced poor quality not open long enough and breakfast was a joke very little to offer and only warm not hot and again not open long enough. Room easy comfortable but tired and dated would not stay here again as not value for money at all.

Leaving was the best thing

Beautiful grounds and magnificent Christmas decorations. Lovely old building.

The room was very small, cold and the banging and movement from the person above sounded like they were coming through the ceiling

The room was good, but the bed wasn't so comfortable, and the main problem for me was the insulation — I could hear the noise from the corridor, the people on the floor above, and the heating in the room wasn't working properly.
