    Pros +

    • Beautiful lodge and surroundings. Staff were really friendly and helpful. I booked a double room but was given a twin by mistake which was sorted quickly with no issues what so ever. Another member of staff went out his way to print of a taxi QR code and brought it to my room which was so lovely of him. Room was clean, nice big bath towel (not the small ones usually given), complementary bottled water, views were amazing, breakfast was great (buffet style) which was much needed afger a night of drinking! Would defo recommend this place.

    Cons -

    • Not dog friendly unfortunately which is probably understandable due to the lake.
    • Was not made aware that there was no .facilities available. I had called the three numbers provided and it was never answered, even the out of hours number was switched off.For £165, I expected to be able to get hold of at least one person, disappointed that we were not able to enjoy the restaurant. It was my partner's 30th, if I was made aware of this upon booking I'd have searched elsewhere. We had strict rules about the lake. No swimming etc, as we were leaving two women were taking a swim,
    • The lake has been drained, building works are on-going, toilet brushes left outside rooms on view, no hairdryers in the rooms and by the time you realise, no-one is on site to answer the phone to borrow one, curtains are fully open or fully closed - no option to appreciate the view without being overlooked by other facilities and rooms. Really disappointed overall. Booked for our anniversary and it was far from special. Not good value for money.

Beautiful peaceful perfect for weddings only I think

No staff after working hours , takeaway options didn’t deliver to Canada lodges . When we did find a takeaway we had no cutlery or plates to eat off.

Beautiful views, comfortable bed and room, very clean, beautiful hot tub, looks just like photos

The room was a little complicated to adjust the heating, the room was boiling and we couldn't find the aircon besides one fan on ceiling

Breakfast and the gentleman serving it was very good.

When we arrived there was some sort of panic like we weren't expected. We were half an hour before the official check in time,a lady came out from reception, spoke to another lady having a cigarette outside who then got on her phone to cleaning staff and said"they've arrived already! Put the camp bed away and get it cleaned". We went for a coffee until the check in time and went to the cabin which for £220 per night is ridiculously basic. Underfloor heating advertised, not working, 40 inch TV advertised,24 inch provided, plates and mini fridge provided, nowhere to wash them after, unless you count the sink next to the toilet . Cobwebs everywhere, sticky floors, grubby table, rusty fittings, outdoor furniture covered in bird poo, unfinished building work was the view from the bedroom, traffic noise. We had looked at llanerch vineyard to stay in but chose this for a change. What a terrible mistake.

Absolutely stunning. The view of the lake. Peaceful & calming even in the colder months.

Our bath tub in room 6 had dirty soap ring left in from previous occupancy. Had lights set up on trees & lake but Not switched on in the dark. Lake and trees would have looked beautiful switched on at night. Breakfast at rhodri’s cafe was amazing but we was like squashed sardines. 7 small tables in a line in middle of room no gaps bit awkward when sitting elbow to elbow with a stranger.

Breakfast was excellent. Location was idealic, rural, quiet and fantastic view of the lake. Room was modern, clean and well equiped with a high standard of fixtures. The staff were friendly and professional. A superb stay despite the ominus beginning.

Despite mentioning on booking that we might be a little late checking in, the hotel appeared closed when we arrived at about 5.30/6.00 pm ! Dark and deserted ! Signage was poor and we drove around the site before finally finding the closed reception building with an out of hours phone number on the door. Ten or fifteen minutes later a member of staff arrived to check us in, apparantly unaware of our booking. An awful start to what thankfully turned into a superb stay.

The space and comfort. The facilities were brilliant.

None of the numbers work when you try to call for help. I needed a hairdryer and couldn’t get through to anyone. We wanted to go for a drink together in Rhodri’s, but again couldn’t get through. The curtains were operated by a button which didn’t work. The back door lock didn’t work so my partners anxiety kicked in as we didn’t feel secure.

Great sized room and picturesque views

No lighting by car park for wayfinding, telly broke during the stay and nobody there to open up for breakfast between 08:30-10 and we got there 09:10

    9TonyPosted on: 12-9-2023

Breakfast was really good. Staff were really helpful and attentive (both at reception and in Rhodri's. Site is lovely and the accommodation spacious and well appointed.

Reception is not well signposted. Owner decided to turn off the lights in the breakfast area while we were still eating (and it was still quite dark!!). This was impolite, especially as another guest had only just arrived to take breakfast. A shame as the rating would have been higher without this!

    clean and larg room

just no internet in it , the network is too weak

    10YuliaPosted on: 5-19-2023

Very beautiful place, quite distant but still close enough to the city centre (around 20 min driving)

The breakfast could be served outside on a terrace as well, we were asked to come inside only to make the order

Beautiful location. Room was clean. Fan in the wardrobe. Nice balcony

Room was advertised on booking.com as large double bed however was 2 singles pushed together with single quilts on each. Not a problem but not as described on booking.com

Fantastic location, lovely lodge and really appreciated the basic kitchen bits. Good breakfast too!

Think it was a security light but there was a green light in the living room that was so bright my daughter struggled to sleep on the sofa bed as it was so bright. Few things were broken, needed a bit of tlc but nothing that impacted our stay.

loved all this tranquil hotel had to offer, room was well appointed, spotless clean, grounds are magnificent.

no food or meals available ? no bar available either. :(

Beautiful quiet place in the middle of nature but near Cardiff. Spacy cottage, good breakfast, kind staff.

The restaurant near lake is not working in postcovid times. Poor wi-fi in the cottage ( but in order near the cottage).

    7EmmaPosted on: 7-13-2022

Continental breakfast brought to the room.

Lack of privacy between the subterranean apartments. You can see into your neighbours room from the balcony. Couldn't entirely relax while dressing or undressing. Bigger partitions needed! Balcony are was quite dirty, had to pick up rubbish and a massive clump of hair.

Good location and fantastic scenery. Check-in was quick and efficient. Rooms were clean.

No management or facilities. Portion of the restaurant is used as storage area so doesn’t leave a good impression. Area around the restaurant was still dirty at 9am the morning ( yes there was a small wedding the night before) but you would expect such a facility to be cleaned.
