- Pretty clean, friendly enough staff
- Large room and bedroom. Pleasant Staff. Perfect location for being close to Piece Hall.
Cons -
- Hotel was very dated, looked like it hadnt been updated in about 30 years, awful plastic shower curtain. Our room was right next to a steep flight of stairs , which was very dangerous.
- Very old fashioned. Could do with a total spruce up, carpets and décor so old and fusty.
- Standard of Coffee and tea facilities could be improved. Haven’t experienced shower curtain over bath for a long time!

Breakfast was average for price paid

huge room, clean and very central location
central to Halifax great room and even Netflix on tv- clean tea and coffee always welcomed and huge bathroom and comfy bed
location
price for room which was supposed to executive,no windows to look out all frosted glass mattress you rolled into the middle bed on an angle you couldn’t get out of one side small tv no glasses on the tray water in the kettle
Not the best.
Poor breakfast had to wait easily 40-45 mins before getting breakfast, poor standard of food.Lumpy uncomfortable bed.
Good location, large tidy room, only stayed one night to attend a wedding but all good, friendly welcome on arrival
Nothing, all good for our stay
it was clean but very dated
comfy bed and nice bathroom
Location and Breakfast Were Great and The rooms were so much bigger on the inside lots of amenities you wouldn't expect for the price especially the iron and ironing board.
Bed was uncomfortable, sunk far too much into the mattress ir was a mixture between a deflating airbed and a hammock
Really nice stay in the White Swan. Room was large, not what we expected. Very clean with a large bed and separate room with sofa and television. Receptionist and Night Porter really nice and friendly. Location excellent.
Some furniture in room a bit dated, could be made more modern. Would have liked a fridge in room for drinks.
Excellent location, pleasant room, very large modern bathroom.
Mattress was far too old and uncomfortable, so a very poor night's sleep. The most basic requirement for a hotel - no excuse for this.
lovely staff
The McDonald’s delivery driver (Mcdonalds was opposite our room) at 4am for 1.5hrs with no consideration of the noise they were making.
the location is great. it’s right in the centre of town with everything easily walkable.
As a local resident who moved away I know this hotel well. it used the be VERY good. it was high end and where celebs doing theatre shows would stay. now, it sits with its unwashed first floor windows in a state of faded glory. if you want to see what a hotel was like in the 90s .. here you go. there’s nothing terribly wrong with it - it’s just a bit soulless and careworn. There was only a handful (literally) of people staying, which gave it a kind of ‘the shining’ vibe. I was expecting to meet ‘the twins’ at any moment, or hear a ghost band play in the ballroom. In fact this hotel will soon be letting out rooms to contractors only. it’s a shame, it could be nice again but it’d take money. so, if you want to stay in a 90s time warp you’d better hurry. Alternatively, if you have a car, I’d suggest staying out of town in the surrounding areas.
Very clean, lovely staff & nice breakfast.
Noise from the high street(mainly the barrier bleeping all night) that kept us awake.Could do with a new window.
Breakfast was good, location was excellent
Property is a bit dated and in need of a revamp
friendly helpful staff, great location, good breakfast
some of areas could do with a freshen up, there were renovations going on upstairs so this might already be ongoing
Central location to Halifax, heritage rich Hotel.
Asked me to pay again despite already paying by booking.com. Turkey bacon and beef sausage belong in the bin!
Location good for centre of Halifax, especially if you are going to Piece Hall for concerts. It’s quite a basic hotel, needs to be modernised inside but for a stop over type hotel it’s fine.
Remember to close windows at night as it is close to a McDonald’s and other places so deliveries in early morning can wake you up but kind of have to expect it in a city location.
