Lovely staff, great location, nice selection of drinks, comfortable beds
No food is available but we managed to eat down the road
Didn't have my meals so couldn't say.
The bed has a memory foam mattress that now has a furrow running down the middle. Kept rolling into the middle
Great value for money, nice bar and lovely staff
Bed was very creaky, maybe a slat broken
very helpfull friendly owner
cosy rooms
Car park, friendly and helpful staff, very clean, room was warm
Shower didn't work.sure staff can help I just didn't have a time for that
Beautiful location. The room was clean, warm, and really comfy. The staff were helpful and friendly. Had a lovely night in the pub chatting to the locals. Highly recommended.
I just love coming back here each year, I was only sad to stay the one night this time due to a family funeral but the owner always makes you feel welcome, the bedroom is perfect for what I need, clean and everything you need, kettle, tea coffee, towels etc...and I will be back again for a longer stay next time.
Could do either a larger towel :-)
so cute and cosy! we had a lovely view from our room and it was near the Forest of Dean, lovely night away.
hot food there would have made it perfect!
Hotel has clearly stepped down from its former self but offered excellent value. Although the hotel didn't offer an evening meal, receptionist provided options (the nearby Belfry Hotel, or take-aways).
Wi-fi was non-existent in the room (over the archway so quite remote from the body of the hotel). However, the welcome pack referred to wi-fi being available in the public areas of the hotel and this was indeed true.No breakfast provided (although that wasn't a problem as none was advertised, and my required early start would have meant missing it anyway).
The room was lovely and clean, the bed was comfortable and the staff very friendly. The car park had plenty of spaces and seemed safe as it was off the road. The price was fair I'd recommend the hotel and stay there again
The heater was boiling and right next to the bed so I had to turn it off, the bathroom had mould on the ceiling and the shower ran hot and cold and didn't become consistent at all
Staff were lovely ,good price
No breakfast but can get one down the road
We have always liked the hotel. Great staff and warm welcome. Good view.
The room was situated over the car park entrance. The room was so cold I slept in my sweater. I should have for more blankets. My fault. But other future guests may need to bring warm pyjamas! Or the hotel could offer warmer bed linen/ blankets.
There was no food available on site but the bar area was very nice and the staff we saw all seemed friendly. Everything was clean and met expectations
The room was quite hot with no obvious way of turning the heating down (in November) and it was a shame they didn’t do food as the dining area looked really nice.
I made a late booking on Sunday evening, wanting somewhere warm and cosy to rest. The owner was incredibly friendly and helpful, and the single room was very warm and cosy and had everything I needed. I was at the back of the hotel and had a lovely view and was able to enjoy some time outside in the morning before I left. Great value for money.
Some outside areas need some attention, yet I imagine that is on the owner's to do list. I believe they may have only bought the property fairly recently.
Very good value, friendly, easy and comfy. An interesting building too
Room and bathroom clean, nice bar.
no breakfast or evening meals available
Beautiful old building in a great location. Cosy room with a pretty view from the bedroom window.
No real negatives
Poor
No staff to actually communicate with, saw the staff 2 times, not even asked how was our stay. Room initially very cold on arrival, no hot water in the sink. My partner wanted to have a shower, and he was put off with lots of hair coming out from the drain , so we actually didn't have a shower all the stay. Breakfast was advertised but seemed to be only offered to the rooms, which we didn't like. Also, after the bar closed, we had to go out from the front to have a smoke, as the door to the garden was closed. We felt like we weren't welcome there at all. Lack of morning coffee facilities, as the bar area was closed. We had coffee sachets in the room, but it was enough for 1 coffee cup, we ended up buying coffee from the supermarket. Overall, we were lucky to have family nearby for the shower and other facilities. Would need to change a lot for us to recommend to friends and for us to return. We do a lot of camping, and we felt that going camping , we would feel more welcomed.
