    Pros +

    • The food was really nice
    • The view, territory, parking, receptionist. Everything is picture perfect
    • The hotel was beautiful and the bartender Sylvester was really polite and friendly. Food was great in the restaurant and again, staff were lovely.

    Cons -

    • It was freezing cold my radiator didn’t work in my room was dirty and outdated
    • I paid to stay in a junior suite which had a big bath directly under the windows, which was a beautiful room. I was happy with everything apart from, the water to the room was lukewarm. The bath we had run was barely warm and the shower was the same. The shower had no pressure either. I called reception as I felt this is one of the main features to the room which in my eyes should be warm to hot water, not cold to warm ish water. The receptionist lady said we have no more suites available but you can have a standard double with a shower. I said it’s not quite the night I had planned if I go to a normal room without a bath, which I’ve paid for. She said we have no maintenance men on site and this is all we have. You can talk to the manager tomorrow. She came across very dismissive and slightly rude. I felt disappointed from that moment on. Everything else with the property was delightful and I would go back, but maybe next time to a different room with more hot water.
    • Would have liked a bugger room. But even with one of the smaller rooms, it has a beautiful patio area.

Staff were so friendly. Was a very busy time for them, but they still had smiles on their faces and were able to accommodate our needs.

Would have liked a bugger room. But even with one of the smaller rooms, it has a beautiful patio area.

Within half hour of Heathrow, this made for the perfect stop over following, and in advance of, a 200 mile drive from Yorkshire. All the staff were friendly and helpful, the room large and comfortable and a comfortable bed I found easy to quickly fall asleep in.

Old buildings often bring with them creaking floorboards and Stoke Place was no exception. Felt guilty walking around the room at times because of the generated noises and potential impact on people sleeping directly below

Absolutely beautiful. Staff were very friendly. Room fantastic. Food wonderful

We ẁere only staying one night

It was a lovely property but very tired

Bedroom was very tired needed lots of work to bring up to reasonable level. Blind not working, missing door handles to dresser, noisy toilet and other rooms when flushing, no English breakfast tea bags to make tea with, hot water Luke warm, lime scale and not clean to acceptable standards.

    1LisaPosted on: 2-18-2026

    Bad

The bed was hard as rock and the room was very small. There was a glass window at the front of the room by the bed and door with only curtains for privacy.

    1JonathanPosted on: 2-16-2026

    Staff were friendly and helpful

Bath was rusty, counter top in bathroom was water damaged and peeling, no heating/very cold.. dust was being blown across the bed from the heating vents.. no privacy from the hallway as the bed was visible from the door

Parking available . Friendly staff good evening meals in the bar or restaurant . Nice grounds and great location. Breakfast was awesome. With special mention to the lady server who was so helpful.

The only thing I will say is the room I was in must have been a large storage cupboard at one time as the entrance door was very small and I almost fell in due to the step

Very spacious room and bathroom. Breakfast excellent. Very pleasant staff.Liked the complimentary drink for not having our room cleaned.Lovely house and views would love to be staying there in the summer to fully appreciate the grounds.

Hot tap in bathroom exceedingly hot to the point of being dangerous. No plug for the sinks made washing and shaving very difficult.

    Good

The evening meal in the restaurant was questionable not to my tastes put it that way overly salted pork, burnt burger slow service but they were dealing with a wedding at the same time. But in complete opposite the breakfast was nice good selection good service.

    6ColaPosted on: 2-3-2026

Room was reasonable size, bed was comfortable and large. Breakfast was the best and service for this was very good. Attentive but not intrusive. Quality of food was very good and a good selection. Portion size was not for the faint hearted, with the full English breakfastQuite a trek to the room with cases and no lift available, which the details do say when booking.Overall atmosphere was good. Only used the bar one night but service was pleasant.

Bathroom only heated by one small towel rail which meant it was very cold. There was also quite a draught coming in throught the sash window joint which did not help. If the door to the bedroom was left open it drew the heat form the bedroom adn made it quite cool as well.

Lovely location, staff helpful & friendly.Room was nice, clean and comfortable. My husband was so impressed with the shower in the bathroom, he would stay there again just for that.

Only downside was that the lights in the corridor outside were on all night and you could see this as there were gaps around the door that let the light in. We suggested that maybe they had sensor lights in these areas.

    Superb

Room didn’t get very warm especially in the morning, plus why have full length curtains in front of the radiator?

    4AnnPosted on: 1-22-2026

    I wouldn’t stay there again...

The property needed updating I was in a garden room . To get to this room in the dark I had to manoeuvre potholes full of rain water . Very little lighting. No bottled water in the room . I very outdated heating system . I had to call maintenance to get the shower working . Very poor toiletries. No curtains at the window and no carpet on floorboards . I ordered the steak for dinner which I had to return , it was so tough I couldn’t cut it , the second piece was not much better . The breakfast was good .

Breakfast was nice and the staff in the restaurant were helpful and polite. The building is pleasant overall but the rooms are dated. It was easy to find but the car park is a clearly a security risk.

I stayed at Stoke Place on the night of 19/11/25, and my visit was completely ruined when my car — along with others — was found with its window smashed in the hotel car park. What made the experience even worse was the hotel’s response. When I reported the damage to reception, I was simply told “there is nothing we can do.” No offer of support, no guidance, no reassurance — just complete dismissal. The fact that multiple cars were affected on the same night made me deeply concerned about the level of security at this hotel. While I cannot comment on how often this happens, the lack of security and lack of responsibility shown by the hotel left me feeling extremely unsafe and unsupported as a guest.I will not be returning and would strongly advise anyone considering staying here to think carefully, especially if you plan to leave your car on-site.

Beautiful hotel with so much character. Lovely staff, very helpful. Rooms are all very different but some are more recently decorated and are tastefully done. I love the roll top bath. I had a very large bed with excellent quality bedding and decent pillows. The food was very good and the breakfast was amazing. There is a lovely bar hidden away which had a nice atmosphere.I would definitely recommend staying here.

Beautiful, private hotel away from any hustle and bustle with lovely grounds. Dog friendly which was a huge bonus. The staff were so nice. Each morning breakfast was set up in a different room so we could eat with the dog and the staff bought him his own sausages for breakfast. So so lovely

    10PaulPosted on: 1-18-2026

Great location and lovely hotel. Sylvester was or waiter for the evening and he looked after us very well. Always on hand when we needed drinks etc. Also as a dog friendly hotel Reef our border collie was treated like a VIP with sausages for breakfast.
