About
A real Yorkshire castle. 150 acres of parkland. And a lot more going on than you’d expect. Cave Castle has been here for over 150 years — turrets, stone walls, the lot — but it doesn’t take itself too seriously. We’re not a museum piece. We’re a proper hotel where people come to eat well, sleep well, and actually enjoy themselves. There’s three places to eat, an 18-hole golf course, a full health club with a 19-yard pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam rooms, plus an on-site spa. Rooms run from castle chic to contemporary. And the events calendar means there’s almost always a reason to come back. Worth knowing: we host live events most weekends, sometimes running until around 1am. If you’re a light sleeper, mention it when you book.

- I have been before and absolutely loved it! It’s a beautiful castle, gorgeous grounds, spacious, clean and tidy.
- Superbly comfortable, nice clean room , staff very helpful
- Spacious comfortable room. We did not have any meals whilst staying at the hotel.
Cons -
- I was absolutely gutted about the room, the thing I loved best last time was the room with high ceilings and spaciousness. That was a double room on a ‘King’s & Queen’s’ corridor INSIDE the castle itself. This time I had a twin with a friend and I was so sad that we were sent outside the castle into another building (room 122-I think!) and it was like the cheap and tacky quarters like council flats. Just didn’t have the same vibe and not what I expected after the first stay. Spoilt the luxury vibe I came back for. I was going to book with three other friends for April but might give it a miss now, really hoped this would be a regular self-care place for me and friends/husbands as everything else is just beautiful. The food, the staff, Sam’s granola
- None to note.
- Didn’t like a lot of things about the room/property - the room itself was clean but the bed had a large dip in the middle of the bed which made it very uncomfortable to sleep in. The shower did not have hot water despite trying different temps and pressures and waiting awhile - this meant we didn’t have showers/baths. The bar downstairs was not staffed appropriately either, so we had to wait ages to order a drink, when we did we were served fast, but upon ordering an £11 passion fruit martini, he served it in a wine glass with ice and orange - which is not a passion fruit martini, the server explained he didn’t really know how to make it. £22 for 2 rubbish drinks was disappointing.

The idea of staying there was lovely, from the description and facilities available. We liked being able to pop down for a quick drink and that the room was a decent size.

Having stayed several times, me and my partner enjoy the surroundings and local area.
We ordered room service as we often do, but on this occasion the menu the receptionist gave us on arrival didn't correspond with what we were charged as we ended up paying around £5 extra. I emailed the reception the same day once we realised and was told someone would get back in touch, which they never did.We also decided to opt for the breakfast in the restaurant, which we usually dont, and for almost £15 each the food and service was quite disappointing.
We don't do breakfast. But do brunch either in cave bistro which is excelle
Good price- clean and warm room, lots of space , spa was quiet
Wish breakfast wasn’t so expensive
Beautiful place, staff freindly and rooms spacious
Beautiful country house,Big grounds, golf course, spa, gym, two restaurants..not modern, but I liked it,Was clean and tidy I'm thinking of joining the health club,Would definitely go back, overnight price was pretty decent I thought. No complaints from me.
I cant think of anything I didn't like.
The castle and surroundings were beautiful and had brilliant facilities there.
The bath and bathroom tiles were dirty.
Great location. Imposing building. Lovely, decorative touches throughout.
Rooms not in keeping with the rest of the property.Far too hot.Cluttered.Not clean. Poor facilities- no water.
The location was nice. the castle hotel itself was very nice.
I requested by email, a double bed in the room due to my fiancé being pregnant, I also rang the hotel, stated that I was a ex military amputee and that i would require an accessible room, if not, a shower instead of a bath. we ere given the room with a double bed but had the smallest bath with no grab handles so it wasn't suitable.I went down the reception to ask about that and the charge on my card, but found the reception staff to extremely rude. I tried speaking to one of them and the other butted in and tried lecturing me on what I was asking about the sum that they had taken off my card - £188.49 - a very random amount which I wanted a reason for. What he stated to me didn't make any sense whatsoever. I did not appreciate this. I was so upset with the pair of them and the way they were to me that I couldn't even book our dinner. In the morning on checkout the same girl was there and was very abrupt with me when I asked her why the price taken was £30 pounds more than I expected. she stated that we had had breakfast - which we had not. She was very rude and ignorant. but agreed to refund the breakfast - something that i still await!Because of the girl we had to go out elsewhere to eat on a very cold night. a pregnant woman and a disabled veteran...My fiancé and I went to Cave Castle to have a look at the facilities to enable us to book our wedding in its entirety there. a wedding that will have several VIP guests attending from the MOD and government, so we wanted somewhere special. This will not be happening simply because of the bad attitude to myself from the girl behind reception.
Had a lovely big room, very peaceful which was great after a very busy working week. Fabulous surroundings. Everything you’d need from a hotel
Could be a real Bobby dazzler of a place if the common parts were a bit more loved and looked after
Beautiful location, which we are familiar with and used to frequent as dating teens (public bar). Staff were all very pleasant and welcoming. Friendly and willing to help. The price was excellent on this occasion.
Despite bringing a number of issues to the attention of reception after our first night, and whilst there were attempts to resolve most of these, they were not dealt with successfully. I did email after our stay with pictures and details, but have had no response so decided I would, after all review, having been reminded yet again by Booking.com
Lovely stunning setting. Food was nice too
Room had cobwebs in it and bed was not comfy
Lovely location Good size standard roomGood parking facilities
I absolutely love the pool and spa at this hotel. We have stayed several times, usually with the dog and they are very accommodating. This visit we were dog free and able to eat in the main restaurant, the food was excellent.
Everything was great the meal in restaurant was superb and staff very attentive, nice pool and lovely outside area which would be nice un summer
Lovely environment, the spa facilities were great, room was spotless
There was only 1 man of the bar and he seemed like he had more important things to do than serve me, said he would be a moment and after returning to the bar twice and taking bottles of wine to another room, after 10 minutes of waiting at the bar we decided to go elsewhere for drinks. Apart from that the stay was amazing
Evening meal was very tasty and delivered promptly by polite and pleasent staff .prices were reasonable and the quality of the food was exceptional.
