Pros +
- location & hospitality
- I have stayed here on previous occasions and found it friendly and good value .
- Good location, friendly staff
Cons -
- Room and bathroom furnishings and decor old and tired. Quite expensive. (£143 for 1 night)
- The bar wasn't as inviting as some inns we've visited. The signs for sports nights and video arcade made it seem less cozy.
- Room very hot but they provided a fan and we opened windows but that's what we get for summer time.

This inn is a good jumping off point for hiking and touring. Our room was very roomy and comfortable. The dining room is delightful and had good meal choices.

Beautiful old setting and old buildings with amazing views
Room very hot but they provided a fan and we opened windows but that's what we get for summer time.
Very nice place to stay busy bar comfortable bed staff were very attentive and breakfast was excellent
Good location on common green in Reeth. Cozy pub with two fireplaces. Quiet location.
Many stairs to climb with luggage. Very basic room with hodgepodge of furniture and tired decor.
Excellent breakfast. The staff were very helpful too.
There was an air freshener in the room, which is a problem for me because they irritate my eyes. I was able to get round the problem by removing it from the room and opening the window.
Super friendly and welcoming staff - Quirky yet charming building - Room was great - Food excellent both evening meal in the restaurant and breakfast were fabulous. Great selection of well kept beers and the Guinness was excellent too - (poured with love !) - The bottle of wine I had with dinner was one I had never tried before and was delicious. Just a fabulous stay and great all round experience - Can't recommend highly enough.
Only small gripe is that I couldn't get the hot water to work in the shower in my room - I meant to mention this on checking out - but it completely slipped my mind - probably because I had enjoyed every other aspect of my stay so much and this seemed ever so slightly insiginificant.
Great food, comfortable traditional pub and large room
The shower went from cold to scalding with the tiniest of movement on the dial, I was unable to find a comfortable and consistent temperature
Comfortable, quiet room with everything we needed - perfect to relax for an evening during our Coast to Coast hike.Amazing breakfast as well!
Sandwich ordering menu could be clearer!
Location, homely feel, nice staff. Great pub
Nothing really
Great old hotel with wonderful pub. Great atmosphere with the coal fire burning. The mattress was lumpy and saggy in places, otherwise the hotel was good.
We had a great stay at the Black Bull. We are a group of 8 friends walking the coast to coast trail.. the hotel.was.in a perfect location, with great views from all the rooms. The staff were really nice and helpful, always happy to accommodate our needs
A great location in Reeth which served an excellent dinner and had some live music and a bingo night.
Tiny bathroom.
The staff were warm, welcoming and knowledgeable of the hotel and local area; nothing was too much trouble. We used all facilities, the bar, restaurant for dinner and breakfast, and the pool table. The food was lovely, the bar atmosphere was fab…. It really was a wonderful stay. The room we were in (5) was absolutely gorgeous! A special shout out to Nicola and Dale, both made our stay what it was!
I like it because it is a historic inn with friendly, helpful staff, and the breakfasts are excellent.
Wonderful location very attentive staff even calling to check if I wanted dinner.Hearty breakfast and great old world atmosphere with roaring fire in bar.
Typical Old English Inn. Excellent staff, very clean and great beer in the pub. Substantial breakfast to set you up for a walk in the dales.
Wonderful welcome, very accommodating for our dear old dog too. Comfortable clean room and outstanding breakfast, thank you.
