It is kind of old hotel

Location is great and the room was clean and comfortable. Staff were pleasant.

Although the staff were pleasant there simply is not enough of them. Grossly understaffed. 45 minutes wait for our breakfast that was tepid and shockingly poor quality. The wait then ate into the time we allowed for the “spa”, which actually turns out to be one big swimming pool that is ice cold. The receptionist told us it was because of a known fault but that doesn’t explain why we still have to pay full price. There is no hot tub, and the sauna and steam rooms can only fit a couple of people and were occupied. Extremely overpriced and very disappointing.

I was unable to enter the hotel and stay in it because there were no rooms, according to the hotel, and the amount I paid is still with Booking. I am waiting for them to return it to me.

Location just that

The cleaning of the room was very poor .. cleanliness overall was below expectations The staff are always busy and they take time to serve. The bathrooms had drainage problems during my stay (every day i informed the front desk), and the same issue with the other room.

Location / friendly staff / delicious food / relaxing outdoor sitting area / spacious rooms .

The location is perfect right on the lake Windermere

The breakfast menu and selection was so less and bland they didn’t even have fresh fruit. Give tinned fruit !

The location was excellent. The Spa was good.Our room had a beautiful view and nicely designed.I quite like the atmosphere of old hotels

Our arrival day was cold and the hotel was cold everywhere, especially our room. A small portable radiator brought to our room was useless.We had dinner in the restaurant on the first evening. It was ridiculously overpriced and our beef stew main course had virtually no beef. It was more like soup with mashed potato. At breakfast on both days service was unbelievably slow. I waited one hour on each morning. The self service area had very little variety, few pastries, sometimes no plates, I switched on the lighting.Generations of my family have a long history of living in and visiting the Lake District and the Old England has had a prestigious reputation so this visit with my Japanese relatives was a huge disappointment. Poor service, poor quality food, poor organization and staff who looked as if they wished they weren’t there!!

Good location near the lake, very English style hotel which we really enjoyed, we would like to also thank Hassan who was at the reception for all his recommendations and making our stay as comfortable as possible. Smooth check in with Hassan. Thank you again! Definitely coming back again.

The room and location was amazing.

The hotel was cold. The fire alarm went off and everyone evacuated, but no staff were there to help. When one did arrive, he laughed and said 'sorry there's only two of us on. So glad we didn't have the kids with us.The breakfast was awful, on our second day we drove to Kendal and had breakfast in wethespoons, it was much better. Not great, but better.

Spacious family room, clean throughout the hotel, late check out offered so the kids could use the pool

Good character property, all amenities. Location perfect. The spa facilities were perfect

Never stayed in a hotel before with no window in the wall. Vey dangerous to have to stand on the bed to open it

There was only a small window in the roof and to open it you had to stand on the bed !!Also the shower head could not be adjusted

The location was great and the staff were very helpful. The hotel room was very clean and the bed was super comfortable.

The price for parking in the hotel.car park waa ridiculously over priced. I expect after paying a substantial amount to stay in the hotel that the car park would be free.

Good size rooms and the food was good.The spa is good too.I paid extra for a king room with a view of Lake Windermere.

Rooms are dated no proper porter service and the hotel is generally tired and could do with a makeover.We needed a fob to access the hotel car park but I had to ask for one each day instead of being provided with one on checkin.The car park is charged at £25.00 per day for guests access to the car park is restricted.

Poor service. Queuing for breakfast when reserving a slot. Wrong orders. Wrong information given over the phone in advance.Expensive for what was on offer.

The staff was really pleasant and helpful. The beds were really comfortable and the area was great and relaxing. The spa facilities were also great. Overall it was a good time

- no heating in my room (was not a problem for my stay at the end of April, but in the winter months this would be a problem - one of the lights in the bathroom did not work- outside my room there was a bar across the street playing loud music until the late hours of the morning - the breakfast was really not the best, I have stayed in various places in and outside of the UK where breakfast was included in the booking and this wasn’t very good. The food was not fresh snd the juices too. The continental breakfast options were very dire and limited. And there were separate charges for breakfast options which makes no sense given the booking days breakfast included.- the parking is also very expensive please be aware, it’s £25 a night which was not outlined before - room was also dusty, I had to take my allergy medicine to help alleviate the sneezing.

Setting was lovely

Staffing behind the bar very limited and slow needs 2 members serving not one!
