Location was perfect and grounds were beautiful All staff were so helpful and friendly

A fantastic venue in a breathtaking location. Easily accessible to the local tourist attraction.

You can hear through the walls and it was very loud whilst trying to sleep.

The property was clean, tidy, beautiful and traditional, I was blown away

The breakfast really spicey and not a lot of choice like we have had in past plus we couldn’t have breakfast in bed because we was in main house which was disappointing as it’s a treat for us !!!

We liked everything about the property, the building the location , the surrounding area .. lovely

Room was,very comfortable, immaculate. Staff were very helpful and polite and food delicious, good choice.

Excellent lakeside location, friendly and helpful staff. Spacious and comfortable room. Hotel has lots of history and lovely grounds. Really enjoyed relaxing by the open fires.

It is a old building built in 1797 which we love staying in these kind of places, the interior has been kept original as much as possible and it is nicely decorated giving it a warm cozy feel and a nice atmosphere with low lighting it gives a lovely ambiance in every room,the food is excellent and very tasty

The only thing I found was the way reception was set out, as you walked through the front entrance you have a front desk straight in front of you which is absolutely fine,but to the right of you at the back of the room there is another desk to me just looked out of place.

All the staff were fantastic. Very helpful, attentive & friendly.

Location and ambience amazing… staff were wonderful at all times… the food was of the highest standard… breakfast the best I’ve tasted for as long as I recall…

Lovely Location and lovely staff in the restaurants

The staff at reception on our first day weren’t friendly or helpful, and the bathroom in our room smelled bad for the entire time we were staying, even though the fan was on, and there was no lift to take our suitcase upstairs. The hotel was listed as a 5-star hotel on Booking.com, but it is actually a 4-star hotel, and the service did not meet 5-star standards.

All the staff were extremely courteous and helpful. The hotel is in a beautiful setting, breakfast and dinner both were very good indeed. I would highly recommend it and would definitely stay again

Luxury and service from a bygone era right on the shores of lake Windermere. Beautifully furnished hotel comfortable large bedrooms and bathroom with attentive staff.

The location was stunning. The bathroom in our room was really modern, and the Bistro was a lovely contemporary touch for dinner. All of the staff were very friendly, and breakfast was plentiful.....

The building was looking a little tired, and the constant emails asking for dinner bookings got a little tiresome and came across as desperate. But apart from that, we thoroughly enjoyed the stay.

I liked everything, from the beautiful room, staff, food and particularly the breakfast which is the best hotel breakfast I've ever had.

There was nothing I didn't like. Everything was perfect.

Set in a beautiful location. Large, comfortable bedroom with great views overlooking the lake. Breakfast and the evening meals in the Bistro were wonderful and couldn’t have asked for more friendly & helpful staff throughout our stay. Two lovely large drawing rooms to sit for a coffee or to have a drink in after dinner at night. Overall a fantastic 3 night stay and would definitely recommend.

The wonderful staff - couldn't do enough for us

Its disappointing that the (busy / popular) bistro menu isn't available in the main dining room - which was all but empty when we stayed, such a shame.
