About

Expect the unexpected in this new concept guest house, just 1 minute's walk from Lake Windermere and its beautiful bustling village of Bowness-on-Windermere, the heart of the English Lake District. The owners have established something fresh and exciting at The Cranleigh. The atmosphere is friendly and informal, while the accommodations has all the cutting edge style of an expensive boutique hotel. The lounge is classic style, with open fire place, leather furniture and mellow decor; a great place to relax with a glass of wine, champagne or one of the local ales. Hearty breakfasts are served in equally stylish surroundings. Bedrooms are simply stunning and totally contemporary, each with an individual style from a professional interior designer. All have luxurious goose-down duvets and fine cotton sheets, iPod docking stations, large screen TVs, DVD players (with free access to a large collection) and free WiFi access. The fully tiled private bathrooms have designer fittings by Villeroy Boch, heated floors, mood lighting, dual-fuel towel rails, spacious shower enclosures and bathrobes. Those with air spa baths have a mirrored TV at the end of the bath for utter indulgence. Please note that the hotel is nonsmoking throughout and is unsuitable for children.

    Cons -

    • The bed was a double bed, not a queen. Late night revelers walk past the place so you do need to wear earplugs which the hotel supplies. The room was very warm and we opened the one upper window that opens but we were never able to get the room cooler for sleeping. Also, it would be nice to have a place to put toiletries rather than on the floor.
    • The room Room 13 was very disappointing small and Dingy, really not worth the money for what it is Apparently that was the superior King ( How on earth ) It’s very basic May as well stayed in a travel lodge for half the price Very disappointed Staff on front desk very abrupt and found rude when pre phoned a few days beforehand.
    • Disappointed that a member of staff (hotel manager apparently)barged in our room without knocking for no reason at all i was partly naked and when I asked why at reception i was given a feeble excuse of checking guest numbers no apologies at all very disappointing especially when it's such a nice hotel and location I would of been happy with a genuine reason especially when she's the hotel manager and should know the room was occupied for 2 nights

Location, breakfast was great. Staff were nice and helpful.

Room was noisy. Could hear the room above.

The Room was fantastic, view of Windermere and the hills. The staff were friendly and helpful. the location was excellent, only a few minutes walk and you were in Bowness

The room was on the top floor, so difficult to get you luggage upstairs. The bathroom was huge, however the shower could do with upgrading s the brass fitting were starting to show green colouring. the parking was a bit of a pain, in the days we stayed there we couldn't park on the flat part at the front, so had to park behind which meant more steps.

Really good location, room was very nice and clean. Also the breakfast was lovely.Would definitely stay again.

We stayed in the Seductive Suite, it was a beautiful room with the decor, lots of space, beautiful bathroom, we loved the mood lighting and the bed was so comfy. We loved the special touches like the vanity area and the under floor heating and the tv on the wall in the bathroom. It was the best hotel that we have ever stayed in and it was my boyfriend’s birthday as well. We will definitely be coming back.

I loved everything, it was perfect.

The room was beautiful, lovely big bath with TV. Close to Bowness, a lovely short walk. Fab location.

Centrally located with free parking, this comfortable, clean accommodation, with excellent staff and delicious breakfast lived up to my expectations.

All staff were a pleasure! Rooms and facilities were excellent, along with a lovely morning breakfast. The location too was perfect, only a short walk down to the lake, with plenty of pubs to visit!Would highly recommend here if you are visiting.

Location, clean, comfortable beds, the quality of food at breakfast and the staff were very friendly.

    Nothing, it was great.

the 2nd room was what we expected. We expected a superior king size room

at first we were shown to a room 13 which was not a superior king size bed. The receptionist was quite rude regarding our concern of the size of bed The manager theed and showed us to room 2 which was a far better room

    9PeterPosted on: 8-22-2024

Location, breakfast, free parking, building and decor.

Couldn't find Terrestrial tv. Radio and Netflix only.

    10RuthPosted on: 8-12-2024

Upscale, comfortable room. Great staff, good breakfast options.

Breakfast area a bit warm, needs fans or better ventilation in hot weather

Comfortable rooms lovely bathroom, nice shower, good breakfast

The room and hotel was great

Room was a little stuffy and unable to open windows fully so noisy fan was on to circulate air

Important to us is that the property was clean which it was not only in our room but in the public areas too. We were also impressed by the staff who were exceptional. Breakfast was very good fresh and hot also the poached eggs were cooked to perfection.

Great Place to stay. Great location. Breakfast is lovely, and we like the discount voucher for sister venues. We'll be back for sure

We have stayed at the Cranleigh on 2 occasions. Both times we have arrived early. The receptionists, (who are always lovely), said on both occasions that they would let us know by phone when our room would be ready, but they have never called to let us know. Not a big problem, as we know we were early. We love our stay there, that's why we are going back again. Our chocolate brownies were yummy! ?
